I know it depends.
But like...how long on average will a synthetic wig last if you wear it almost everyday?
Because I found my dream wig and am thinking of stocking up for the next 2-3 years whilst my hair grows out.

Depending on the style they last me about 6 wks before they look freyed.
Anything past that and the Trannie jokes start in the dressing room.
^^My old roommate used to wear wigs a lot. I'd say 4-6 weeks, depending on the wig and how well you care for it. But damn, near week 6, I'd tell her to leave it outside cuz it stunk like bar sooooo bad.
I was actually pondering the idea of wigs today....I've never worn one, especially at work. I was wondering how you get them to stay on while dancing? I'm trying to grow my hair and be alittle less obvious of who I am at work so I was looking into the whole wig thing...

I've thought about it too.....
Do they just let you try them on? I've always felt scared to ask....

Damn, 6 weeks isn't that long...
Wigs are fun. They stay on if you bobby pin them well. As far as trying them on, just stride into the shop. They give you a wig cap that's like a little stocking cap for hygiene reason and you just try them on. They'll usually help you with adjusting it, finding the right one and so on.
4 to 6 weeks but if you get some of that wig spray and shine serum they will last a bit longer.
Actually, most wigs can be washed and restyled, so they should last much longer than 6 weeks.
If you're doing it all yourself, be very very careful if you use curling irons and such on them...too much heat will melt the wig fibers!
Sorry to sound so stupid :0) but is there anything I should know about where to buy wigs at? Does that matter? In my local mall there is a hair place that sells hair products and also has a decent section with wigs....should this be an okay place to buy one? What's the going price?
Also, (because I'm seriously considering this) how do customers respond to the wig thing? I've been at my club for awhile so it'd be obvious if I wore one and for those who don't know me....wouldn't they feel the wig if they touched my head? (it irritates me....i don't know why guys insist on touching my head! LOL!)

It gets hot from time to time at my club and when I sweat alot my syn wig takes a beating. Once the wig gets too ratty underneath I immediately switch it out for a new one. My syn wig will last about 2-4 weeks if I'm lucky. I have the spray and styling gel, but if I've sweated the wig out it's no good to me. The newer the wig looks, the more real the hair looks and feels, and the more manageable it is.
I don't let customers play with my hair, for obvious reasons, but you can run your fingers through it and shake it all around with no complications. I don't recommend washing syn wigs. They're cheap and it's a time waster because IMO they never regain their original luster, shape, and style once washed. My wigs will run about $25-$50. I've never had one fall off and I'm known for doing pole tricks. I secure it with 2 large bobby pins and some wig companies make them with hair combs.
Always try a wig on before you buy it. The key is to make sure that it looks like real hair. It shouldn't look fake. My syn wig looks like real hair, very few people know that it is a wig. Many just think that I'm wearing extensions like the rest of the girls or they just think that it's my own hair. Choose a color that's complimentary to your skin color and be careful of the wigs' style; straight wigs are easier to maintain then curly ones.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
Usually in different conditions I will try different style of hair wigs that to match with my clothes and and also the situation as well and now to make it more easier ususallt I will use the hair wigs to help reach my goal and last month I have just gained a for the next party and match with my clothes I have bought.

For the question of where to buy wigs, I don't know where you live but I'd you have black hair stores around you, check them out. Lots of wigs, lots of colour sand styles. Knowledgable staff.
I'm in canada and I always envy the American wig stores because they price is right.
I wear wigs for medical reasons and I can pump 2 months out of synthetic wigs because i am meticulous about washing, combing and trimming them. Not always possible with all kinds of synthetic wigs but I usually go for lace fronts. I'm used to wigs and have no hair so I don't find them too hot, but it would likely be worse if I had hair under them.
Hope that helps

Id say if your careful about a couple months at best. but a wig with clips is your friend. so are headbands and scarves, things you can use to break up your part a little bit for the most natural look

A few months. Curly wigs last much longer than straight ones. With curly wigs do not brush but pick the curls with your fingers. With curly wigs even with a little or a lot of perspiration they wont loose shape and the older they look the better it looks. I wear one that is pulled away from my face with two bobby pins at the top of my head so it looks almost like two small pigtails but no. I look like a little babydoll and kinda fluff the hair out a bit. Straight hair can be beautiful but tedious becuase of the constant brushing. Look for wigs made with kankelon fibers they can be flat ironed to a certain temp. With straight hair. If I am perspiring I will pin it up or pull it into a ponytail and change into a sexy dress so it coordinates more. After I have cooled off or made some more money I will let my hair down. When you find a favorite wigs alway buy a few.

Yeah I buy mine 2 at a time, they last me about 6 weeks if I wear them alot of longer if Im working less.
