i just havta feel that tingley feeling, but now its not really working very well its like im becoming imune to it or something iv switched brands like 1,000,000 times because that tingle fades awaay

I don't know if it's "bad," but I'm addicted as you are.

If I forget my chapstick at home and worry that I'll need some before I get to and from where I'm going I'll stop at the store and buy some. Yes, I go out of my way for chapstick!

Start using vaseline on your lips. Since it doesn't have so many ingredients, there is a smaller chance your lips will get irritated and crave the chapstick. It also is better at sealing in moisture.

omg earlier this evening I was thinking of doing a search on this and forgot totally about it!
i don't recall my lips being chapped so badly, but after using chapstick regularly the last few months, I CANNOT STOP USING IT! I wouldn't call it addiction in the form that you have it, at least not to that degree, but My lips are NEVER healed and it's so irritating. like, instead of buying the yummy flavors and stuff, I'm always buying the medicated ones...yucky.
I'm going to try the vaseline, hopefully that will do the trick, I want to rehabilitate my chapstick-addiction!!

Watch the vaseline. It is a petroleum chemical product, so I would be careful about using it too much.

My drug of choice is all-natural Burt's Bees beeswax lipbalm. I have them stashed all over the house.

but do you NEED them all the time? LIke, do you have them everywhere bc u have a chapped lip problem? I'm just trying to get away from chapstick bc I think if I didn't start "trying to soften my lips" a few months ago, I wouldn't even need it.

My boyfriend took my last tube to work (I guess I got him hooked), so right now, there's this Burt's Beeswax moisturizing cream on my lips. It's in a pot, so I'm assuming it's for lips, but it feels nothing like what I'm used to. And it only soothes temporarily, as it seems to wear off quickly.

Yup, it can be addicting. The body will stop producing the moisture naturally when one uses chapstick all the time. Its similar to being addicted to visine or nasal spray. I've gotten dependant on it before. You need to stop cold turkey and the body will regulate in a few days. The tingly stuff like Carmex are the worse culprits!

    lol .. ^^
So stop cold turkey? I swear my lips are going to break and bleed for the next few days if I do. I'm so afraid of the consequences, but I really want to break this cycle.
(This sounds so ridiculous, I feel like I'm dramatizing it to be life-threatening or something .. lol)

Okay, bye bye chapstick .. I'm so scared!! My lips hurt already.

I don't need the Burt's Bees every day---even when i don't use it, my lips aren't chapped. I just like the minty tingle! You can find Burt's Bees everywhere---it is a wonderful, all-natural line with a bunch of cool stuff. The lip balm is usually available at health-food stores. Ingrdients: beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower seed oil, peppermint oil, vitamin E, lanolin, symphytum officianale root extract(some type of herb, not sure which one) , rosemary extract. Oh, and they do have a moisturizing cream, but it isn't for lips. The lip balm comes in a tube or tiny tin pot, but it is the same product.

It's real for me! I have...uh...3...tubes in my purse right now! My lips start to hurt when I don't use it and I get totally cranky and start searching around for it

Sounds stupid, I know. I seriously can't go anywhere without out it...like I said before, I'll stop and buy some if I forgot it and know I'll be without!

Since I started taking oils like omega 3s and vit. E internally, my lips are rarely chapped. So I don't need chapstick anymore, but if you do use it I'd switch to something more natural like cocoa butters or something.
