Default going to vegas...where to go...what to do???

as some of you read in an earlier thread, my husband and i are going to vegas may 9-12th (can i get a YEAH!! lol) we are staying at the stratosphere i'm pretty sure.

what are good things to do at this time of year? any shows we HAVE to see?? restaurants we MUST eat at???

and of course, i NEED to know where all my sw girls work so i can visit you!

and last but not least...what are the sc "rules" there?

Fave clubs - Pure, Tao, Tryst, Body English, Jet, Drai's
Restaurants - Nobu (amazing sushi), N9ne, Boa, buffet @ the Wynn, Aureole (if you're into wine), Corsa Cucino, Prime

I love shopping at Fashion Show Mall and Forum Shops. Mandalay Bay also has some really nice and unique boutiques. I would definitely try to hit a few of the pools, esp at the Hard Rock and th Wynn.

As far as the sc - Light touching is mostly allowed, some girls will let you touch boobs or more. Ladies must have a male escort. A lot of the girls will probably ignore you since you are a couple or may just plop right on your man's lap w/o acknowledging you, so be prepared for that. I'd check out Spearmint Rhino, Scores, Sapphire, and Seamless.

This is true. I went to Vegas with a guy friend of mine and not many dancers approached us. They probably assumed we were a couple. I liked Top of the World restaurant on top of the Stratosphere. There are probably many restaurants where you can get just as good of food or better, but I really liked the view of Vegas all lit up at night.

The Secret Garden at the Mirage is one of my favorite places. They have dolphins, a lion, tiger, and a few other animals.
LatinaRose pretty much covered the rest, and I agree with ehr on SC visits. Couples do tend to get ignored a lot...but just go to the stage, and ask the girl to come over, and she probably will. Oh....if you go to Spearmint Rhino, and they have no tables, tip the bouncer, and he'll get you a table. Its either that or wait an hour. Same goes for getting into nghitclubs. Dont wait in line. Just go up and tip the bouncer. Of course, if its you and 10 other hot chicks, just go ask the bouncer to let you in, and he will. Actually...Rum jungle will comp a bottle to groups of 10 or more girls, btu your going with your hubby, so Im getting off topic here.
Pure nightclub at Caesars is the #1 rated club in the US right now.
If you go to Drais, watch your drink closely. They have a huge problem with girls gettign drugged. I found this out the hard way, and only learned later that they have a problem with this.

As for shows....Mystere at TI is the best. O at bellagio is good, Zumanity at NYNY is just strange and boring.
If yrou into this kind of thing...fashionistas show at uhh...cant think of the name, but its a gay bar. well, its an alternative lifestyle bar. Anythign but straight. But anyway, there show is pretty damn good. Can be a little odd, but has the best dancers Ive ever seen in Vegas.

Mandalay Bay's pool is really nice...go to Hard Rocks pool on a sunday for Rehab, or Palms pool on a weekend night...Downtown, the Golden Nugget just remodeled their pool and it is really really nice. They got a shark tank in the middle of the pool with a water slide that goes right through the middle of it. Its awesome.

TO's making his list and checking it twice too, since I'll be in LV for Memorial Day weekend

Don't know if you're into the spa thing, Summer, but the Canyon Ranch day spa at the Venetian is probably the ultimate of all the Vegas resort spas. I believe they have the widest selection of side-by-side treatments too, if you want to drag your hubby with ya

As for restaurants, my favorites are Gardunos at the Palms (Southwestern), Isla Mexican Kitchen at Treasure Island, Circo at the Bellagio, Delmonico's Steakhouse at the Venetian, and for the 24-hour cafe fix, Lucky's 24/7 at the Hard Rock Hotel. Places I might try on this trip are Samba's Brazilian Barbecue at the Mirage, and either of the restaurants at Paris (Le Provencal or the Eiffel Tower).

Shows - I liked Blue Man Group (at the Venetian), and I'm hoping to catch Monty Python's Spamalot (at the Wynn) on this trip, at the very least.

I went there when i was in vegas in june...a bit overpriced(but what in vegas isnt!)but very nice. Make sure you make known exactly what you want though....I got talked into an aromatherapy massage, which was mostly the girl talking soothingly while rubbing differant oils on my shoulders. Nice...but with my knotted up back, I want serious MASSAGING when i go in....

Next time i want to try the rock wall..it was SO cool!

I like AquaKnox (seafood) or the Valentino (they have a cafe too which is less expensive and casual) in the Venetian.

Picasso in the Bellago, it's fixed menu and I think Oceans already mentioned Le Circo.

Take a pass on Postrio though, it's gone down hill the last few years. The last time I was there, the couple next to my table went to the restroom like 3 or 4 times and finally left before they finished their dinner. In fact, I had to run to the restroom too right after my meal.

BTW Oceans skip the restaurants in the Paris . For a French influenced place, the restaurant couldn't even make a decent dessert. They whole dessert tray selection was very plain at best.

The Strat is a little isolated on the north strip. Rule no. 1 is bring comfortable shoes and nothing is as close as it appears.

Depending on your budget and likes, you can do the upscale over-the-top Vegas experience, or with a little digging you can still find the cheesy, tacky Vegas. Want to spend $500 pp for dinner? Try Joel Robuchon. Want to spend $5? Go to Ellis Island and get the off menu, complete steak dinner ($4.95) and a house made root beer or micro brew ($1).

There are a few things in the Strat itself if you want to stay close to homebase. There are thrill rides at the top of the tower and they opened a Polly Esther night club last month. It has four rooms each with a different decade theme. Sort of the anti-ultra-lounge. Blondhottie's description of Top of the World was right on.

If you want to spend a lot of your time mid-strip, you'll either be taking cabs or you can ride the duece (double decker city bus). I don't know how access to the monorail is from the Strat.

If you care to give some ideas of what your budget, interests, or expectations are I'm sure you'll gat plenty of helpful info.

well, we rented a car...we learned our lesson from that the first time we went to vegas! lol

$500pp for dinner...HAHAHA...that's funny, lol (if you knew me...you would know I am WAY too cheap for that!)

Our budget is probably middle of the road. We'll probably only go out to one nice dinner. Honestly I don't find the food THAT great in upscale restaurants...i'm more of a "hometown dinner" kind of person.

and HELL NO will i ever step foot on that roller coaster or the sling at the strat! last time we went, i got vertigo just going to the top of that thing! lolol

god there's sooooo much to do i can't choose!!!!!!

i know i definatly want to do some shopping for clothes this time around...maybe a corset from ms guen???

what are some fun active type things to do??

    cameron...where's the rock wall??

i wish we had more time there!

LOL. I say this all the time! It cracks me up when I hear guys in a casino saying, well, we'lll just walk over. Its only next door. Nothing is as close as it appears in Vegas!

the Stratosphere is a bit secluded from everythign else, but if you got a car, its all good. Oh..that reminds me!
Make sure to go downtown and check out the Freemont street. I love it there.
I'm sure you know all the free shows on the strip to check out, btu if you want a fun night free, start at the begining of the strip and work your way down checking out the free shows. Most of them are very good.

    Bellagio water show
Bellagio garden( not a show, but a free cool thing to see)
TI Pirate show( the best! well worth seeing)
    Mirage Volcano
    Fremont street light show
    Am i forgetting any?

Make sure you sign up for every players club at every casino. Not only will you get free slot play and good coupons, if you gamble enough, you may get your room comped. We NEVER pay for rooms when we decide to spend the night somewhere for fun. And if you already paid on your credit card, they will refund your card for the nights you get comped. You will also get free buffets comped as well. Just after you play for awhile, ask the pit boss if you can get a dinner comped. They will usualyl do it without checking your play. We NEVER pay for dinners anymore. Whenever me and my boy go out, we just pick a casino and ask for a free dinner. We are never refused. At some casinos where we have higher play, we have been comped $200 dinners at steakhouses.
If yrou going to gamble, get your moneys worth and get as much free stuff as you can!

The rock wall is at Gameworks, where the M&M store is, i believe.

Here are a couple of restaurant recs:

Lotus of Siam (Thai) 953 E. Sahara It's in a strip mall but don't let that fool ya. If you're not overly familiar with the food put yourself in the hands of your server and you can still control the amount of heat in the dish (on a scale of 1-10). Rezzies for dinner a good idea. Maybe $40-$50 pp. Some people say this is the best Thai restaurant in the country.

Cafe BaBa-Reeba in the Fashion Show Mall. Spanish Tapas restaurant. Good Happy Hour. 4-7 I think. $3 app plates and half-price sangria. Get the SO feelin happy then wander through the mall spending his money.

The Peppermill lounge has almost ok food and you get alot, but it's really got old school Vegas atmosphere in the Fireside Lounge.

By the big coke bottle there's a 24 hour food court with a Wendy's, Panda Express, a pizza place, even a Wienerschnitzel. Nothin better than staggering back to your room and stopping by for a couple of chili-cheese dogs at 6am. Unless it includes waiting in line with all the "bar girls" grabbing a bite after "work".

You can drive out to Red Rock Canyon or Valley Of Fire one morning and hike some of the trails. Bryce or Zion are a bit of a reach.

If you have the money you have to check out Delmonicos or Mesa Grill!!!! Probably two of my absolute favorite restaurants right now!!!! And the locals bars have some of the best food at great prices if you hit up the right one!

You'll have to PM me when your trip rolls around and I'll give ya the skinny on my club and nights I work, I'd LOVE to see ya!!!

For Restaurants I like Le Cirque, Olives and the buffet at the Bellagio. I also like Shibuya at MGM Grand for sushi. And I had a sea bass entrée at Diego, the Mexican restaurant at MGM Grand, that melted in my mouth.

Both Le Cirque and Shibuya will set you back a few dollars (unless you get the meal comped).

You picked a good time of the year for a Vegas visit. The weather should be just about right, in the high 80's and sunny. So you have plenty of options for outdoor activities, especially pool time.

You may want to check out the Ghostbar at the Palms or Voodoo Lounge at the Rio. Both on the top floors of their hotels and offer outdoor patios with a good view of the city.

My favorite SC's in LV right now are CHII & Spearmint Rhino. Sapphires is too big and sterile for my tastes, and Scores didn't really appeal to me.

Default Re: going to vegas...where to go...what to do???

I don't like the Stratosphere or Spearmint Rhino (especially unfriendly girls in dressing room). I think the best lounges I've been to (and not for how busy it was) were Tabu @ MGM and Whiskey Sky @ Green Valley Ranch. I love Mystere. There is good shopping at some of the small stores in Green Valley too. I also like Belz. The big casinos have nice designer stuff, but I'm not so into that bs. I like cute clothes, not big labels. I'd say to for sure Check out Scores and Treasures, bec/ they're amazing. The other clubs are busy, but these places are beautiful inside and out. I guess it depends on what you want. Crazy Horse II was always busy, but I hear they've been in a lot of trouble again lately. That's the last place I worked, and only bec/ Scores (what use to be Jaguars) was in limbo. Definately change your hotel though, or you'll be in the middle of the ghetto. Try Luxor for a good spot on the strip and lower prices than surrounding hotels. Well have fun!!
