    Prescription weight loss

Okay girls don't freak out at me. I trying to lose weight... yes I know diet and exercise.. and I'm willing to do that... but I want a boost to help speed up the process. I'm looking to take a prescription weight loss pill... I mean if you need a prescription then you know it works. I'll probably make an appointment for sometime next week. What pills should I ask my doc about?

Something you girls have heard of or have used yourselves?

Doctors will not prescribe weight loss drugs unless you're very overweight, and judging by your avatar, you arn't close to overweight.

^^She's right. They'll tell you to go to the gym and eat better. You have to be *obese* to get pills from the doc.

Some dr's will prescribe pills like Meridia even if you arent obese...IF you are otherwise healthy and diet and excersize arent enough for you. I asked my dr about it last time i was there....he would have prescribed it for me, but I have a pancreatic condition and there are no conclusive test results on it's affect on the pancreas. So he didnt want to take a chance it may affect me adversely. If I was otherwise 100% healthy...he prob would have given it to me because I am trying to lose 20 pounds and even he noticed that every time i go to him(every few months), despite all my efforts, the scale keeps moving up.

If thats you in your avatar...and if you see the scale moving down(or you are losing inches) through diet and excersize alone....leave it alone. If you can do it yourself, even if it seems slow..then you dont need drugs.

You are better of taking over the counter weight lose aids. My favorite is Hoodia the appetite supressant. You can also try thermogenic weight loose drugs like Lipo 6, Staker 2 etc. They should be used short term and in conjunction with proper diet and exercise.

I thought that most of those script diet pills were amphetamine based...or similar. Did you see Requiem For a Dream?

You could just get Tonalin CLA from your local GNC if you need a boost. Prescription weight loss drugs tend to have nasty side-effects.

Some are, some aren't. Not only have I seen and read Requiem, I've had a nasty experience with Duramine myself. I don't recommend amphetamines at all. They can actually cause brain damage, and they definitely turn you into a nutcase.

Not all are uppers...Meridia is an appetite suppressant, so it's not supposed to make you jacked. It makes you not want to eat, but it doesn't speed up the metabolism (from what I understand).

You can get diet stuff from docs without being obese, but it's rough. It's hard to trick a doctor. Once they think you have drug seeking behaviour, you're S.O.L.

Mine thinks I have an eating disorder, so that's that. I think your best bet will always be just pushing your cardio workouts, and reducing calorie intake. The results vary, and it's a damn sight harder for some unlucky souls than others (which is why I get so frustrated when skinny people tell me to 'love my curves' or else 'just excercise more). But really, an hour of high intensity cardio every day (really getting the heart rate up...which takes time in itself to get your body fit enough to handle that much exertion), plus strict calorie reduction- it will make you lose weight if you keep at it diligently.

I have to confess it's true. I love dexedrine, and I admit I'd take it again if I could. Still, it's better (I know) to not take that stuff...If I took enough of it, sure I'd run for hours straight on the treadmill, but I'd start to see strange shadows in the corner of my eyes. That shit made me hallucinate, and never sleep. I was twitchy and out of it. Skinny, sure, but you can't live that way.

Nothing made me anti-drugs like experiencing the fucked-upness that goes with weight loss amphetamines.

In requiem ( if you read the book. ) it was based on when they gave just the classic speed to patients.

And melissa, there is no diet, pill...Eating disorder that will make you wake up thin. Everything in cluding ANA takes weeks if not months to show.

And anything that causes you lose weight super rapid is bad for the heart and nervous system

God i shouldn't even read these threads ..I wanna get preachy with it

which is sorta like jiggy but not as flashy

lol I just got white girl with it ^

You lose the weight crazy fast, but you're all fucked up. So yeah, you're skinny, but you feel like shit all the time, and the weight ends up coming back. My sister is a hard core drug addict, and she struggles with her weight all the time. Even she says it's not worth the BS that comes with being skinny on speed. She would see shit all over her barracks room and apartment.

Drugs are scary! We're leaning all about them in school, people comming off of drugs get extremely paranoid and sometimes feel like bugs are crawling under their skin so they dig at themselves. People who are on concaine end up either dying from it, eventually comming off of it and gaining a ton of weight, or they just disintigrate. Next time you want a drink of alcohol put two shots in a glass and then break an egg into it, eventually the sides of the egg cook (imagine what it does to your brain). Sorry, I just find this stuff extrmely interesting. Substance induced psychosis is a very common thing.

OMG, I'm sorry to be a mom here but your mental and physical health are WAY more important than a few pounds! This is your life we are talking about, instead of cheating your way to weight loss how about trying hard work first. Sorry to be a bitch.

Melissa, get off your butt, get away from the computer and go for a walk.

Diet pills DO NOT WORK! Trust me, when I was 180-190 I tried them ALL! I had to lose it by getting off my ass and runnning. Took me a year to drop to 120, but I did it. Now until you are the size of my mother (320 and 5'3") dont even think about going to your Dr for a diet pill.

I have 5 kids and genetics (my whole family is obese) to deal with. So if I can get off my ass and drop a hell of a lot of fat, so can you. If thats you in the avatar and you want to lose pounds, you have issues you need to deal with first. Trust me, I've been there.

    don't do it.

i've tried pretty much ever diet drug under the sun - both legal, and illegal. there's some that work, there's many that don't. the ones that work will fuck you up. you will shake and you will have trouble sleeping and they make your heart beat really fast and they send you crazy. the only one i found that REALLY worked for me, nearly killed me.

so weigh up your options. you might find a dangerous substance that will strip you of body fat, but it also might make you drop dead. what do you value more? life, or being able to lose a few extra pounds without putting in any effort?

just get your ass to a gym and work out every day, and stop eating crap food.
