    Trouble Getting X-Pole Up: It's Been 7 Days Since I Got It !!! :(

I have tried to resolved this on my own; I now come to you for advice.

I got my pole on April 9th. Today is April 16th and part a & b are lying on the floor, separate from their base and dome. I am extremely frustrated, regretful and wondering if I might be able to put this thing up after all .

We have erected it 5 times, and 5 times taken it down.

First I needed a (better) stud finder. Then, the sections were not tight enough and it was crooked. Then I needed a level because both our ceilings and floors are not level and the ceiling seemed to be sinking upwards.

Finally, we put it up, everything secure and give it a spin. The mutha budged on the first spin. Retightened it.

Everything secure and level, gave it another attempt. This time, there was a clanking sound: "Clunk, clunk, clunk" when I put it in spinning mode, so I figure it's too tight. Loosened it, but still - same thing.

I am wondering; What else can I try ?

P.S. I also tried a .5" board under the joists between them and the dome, but the dome slipped, and it seems you can't tighten the pole with too much pressure because then it will have a bend to it, which is probably why the pole goes "Clank" in spinning (?)-

The LAST thing I want to do is bend it!

    I'm frustrated ! {Sigh} . I would appreciate any suggestions.

I got a little Mynx pole and my boyfriend had to go up in the attic and nail a piece of wood to two studs up there, because he said eventually if you only connect it to one stud that stud will begin to weaken and crack the cieling
    Good Luck ^^

beautifulxxdisaster, thanks for the advice. Tried your board suggestion but a feeling kept nagging at me so I (triple) checked the ceiling with the studfinder and discovered AC/DC running along the ceiling .

Needless to say, drilling / nailing went out the window, but thanks as it was a great suggestion if not for the hot wiring .

And Glamgirl, you were right. The thread and coupling were scratching against each other not allowing to be tightened well enough (Pole A, B + all extensions)...

I got wicked tall ceilings which was what was giving me the problem. Had to get it tight.

However, being stumped inspired a brainstorming session from which, I recalled the anecdotes my dad would share while I'd work on the cars with him and it came to me -

    "Lube!" <Giggles> .

Got some Vaseline and smeared it along the threads: "Smoove like buttah; Fuggheddaboutit ."

Got it up last night <Tee hee>.

Went at it creatively and with my Husband's literal manpower, Voila! - It now stands proudly, beautifully and securely in the middle of our living room...

    Good times!

    Thanks beautifulxxdisaster & Glamgirl.

its fairly easy, it is best to have someone to help you but ive managed to take it down on my own a few times in about 10-15 mins, i used to have major problems gettin the poles unstuck but i bought the new things to undo them easily and they just make a lot of hard work very easy

yea, haha, be careful! i was doing a party and they told me they had a "standard" 9ft ceiling (i hear that soo much (standard 8ft, standard 9ft etc.. lol)...well i get there and the ceiling is like 12ft at least! of course, she didn't have a ladder for me to stand on, so i had to stand on this tall glass table! you know, the kind you put behind your couch...then i still had to reach way up to tighten up and almost fell a few times....

and thus ends my totally irrelevant thread jack for the day hahaha
