Default What can you put on a stainless steel pole...

To make it grip better? Is there anything?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, or if it's already been asked, and mods please feel free to move it into the portable pole sticky thread if you want.

I am about 75% certain I want a Superpole from SassySummer, but I want one that will be easy to move with. I love my beautiful mountain cabin style loft apartment, but nothing's forever, and also there's NO CATS ALLOWED, lol!

The multi-piece pole is best for moving around, but it only comes in stainless steel. I don't mind the idea of working with a more challenging pole, but I'm just still not crazy about the SS when brass is so much better in so many ways.

So is there some substance, sealer, spay coating--anything--that would make the grip better, but not fuck up the finish completely?

If I could rest assured I could find something, I'd probably go ahead and order it. The other option is to get a length of brass pole and make my own mounting, then modify or cut it down when I move somewhere else--but from what I can tell so far, the cost would be about the same, and the hassle much greater. I have more than enough money, and I'm getting tired of waiting, lol...

SassySummer, I do appreciate your help, you have been very patient and very kind. I'm almost ready, unless I find a really cheap pole around here suddenly (there might be sometrhing with our club's expansion coming up, you never know). I don't want to lead you on though.

I kinda doubt it...SS is a really resistant metal. Someone on here will probably know better than me though. But anyway once you strengthen your grip it doesn't matter so much what metal you're using.

My pole at home is ss and i use metho on it each time before i use it and i find that helps to make it more grippy.

I have also been told that you can get them polished to make them more grippy - like a matt type polish.

Well, after I got used to it at that one club, I never had a problem, but it's been over 4 years since then and I've gotten spoiled again, I think--actually I haven't even tried a SS pole since then. I do remember we would always use the metho on it at that club, though.

    Thanks for the replies...

black emery buffing compound will make the pole climbable. it will take the pretty finish off, but for home or private/practice use, that is not a big deal overall, as the finish can be restored if desired with red jeweller's rouge.

Just keep it clean with iso(rubbing alcohol)

If you use a proper grip you should be able to dance on anything... and I mean anything... fuck i've danced with any material you can imagine with a pole lol.

Rosin/gymnastics chalk works well. You can buy spray rosin (a.k.a. rosin mixed with alcohol), which won't leave a chalky mess everywhere.

    And...um...aren't you forgetting something, Djoser?

(Hint: there needs to be a video of you doing pole tricks on YouTube. )
