    Default LiL Mynx pole

Once I got my pole a few months back I was pleased, but now that I've had it, and practiced on god knows HOW many other poles, including the poles at class, work etc..........

    I've decided.

This pole is shitty. It has no grip or stick whatsoever.

If I can hang upside down gripping with only my thigh on about 5 other poles at 3 different clubs/locations - but can't even comfortably SIT on this pole - there's something terribly wrong. I just bought the standard, non rotating stainless steel pole.

Has anyone else experienced something like this with their Lil Mynx?

I found some pole reviews thru google:

LIL'MYNX STAINLESS STEEL, BRASS AND POWDER COATED (black, pink, red or white):
    (My preferred pole)
    Pros:
easy to install, variety of surfaces, fast delivery, lightening quick to put up and take down, non-interfering base, can use in multiple locations with extra ceiling mounts, great customer service, ceiling mount is small and discreet
    Cons:
weight limit of 180lb (Lil Mynx more generous with their weight limit), cannot use the top portion of the pole if your ceiling is over 8 feet, rubber feet may cause some wear in carpet (use a second carpet scrap or IKEA mini circle rug to protect), rubber feet occasionally need to be re-screwed in if you take it in and out on a carpet a lot

Lil Mynx has a rotator pole that can also be stationary. I demo'd this model just briefly and not long enough to have a real impression.

They also have a completely removable 'Pro Pole' (no ceiling hardware) which comes apart in 2 pieces and has a case for easier transportation. As with any 'no-ceiling hardware' pole, it has more limits and safety issues.
There were also some reviews at

Lil Minx stainless steel the same pole I have. Its slippery because SS has no grip to it.

I can't hang upside down by the thighs on it either. Spins and such can be done, it just takes some getting used to. After a while you learn to grip harder.

A tip Alena Downs posted on SW is to use a drop of shaving gel for grip. I've tried it and it really makes a difference. Wet your hands, apply a little gel, then rub that stuff on your hands and inner thighs. It'll give you some grip to work with until you start to sweat.

    Next time I'm getting brass.

I dont have a lil mynx but this is the problem u will find with most poles in the home. I have a stainless steel one at home and it is not as grippy as the one at the club or at my pole school. I figure that the reason for this is that the more a pole is used the more grippy it seems to get. We use stainless steel ones of the same brand and make at my pole school as i have at home yet there is a huge difference.

Try cleaning the pole with a rag and metholated spirits each time you use it and try to use it as much as possible.

I know exactly what you mean! I spent 300 dollars on my pole(rotator powder coat finish) and it has no grip at all! Even w/ my boots on it's still hard to climb...I am really disappointed w/ my pole! It wasn't worth the money

honestly i really don't think the usage of it matters at all. at my pole class, when michelle first started teaching, we had a terribly shitty pole and had to go so far as to buy a different one for better sticking - and the new pole was automatically much easier to grip, practically right out of the box.

it just seems like there's an entirely different coating on this one than that of others.

i'm thinking it may be due to the fact that these poles weren't really designed with high quality or advanced tricks in mind, i think they were just thinking about the average consumer who wants to give pole tricks a try - not someone who can really work a pole.

advanced tricks on this one are mostly impossible, and simple tricks should not be this difficult. its interesting to see i'm not the only one....

thanks for the links, i'll probably just opt for chrome or brass next time. i was thisclose to getting brass the first time around, but silly me said "don't learn on an easy pole, learn on a HARD one, so you can do any pole!" ha, that blew up in my face.

but i'm defiantely going to be ordering a platinum stages brass pole+stage when i move out. That's a coffee table, stage and stripper hamster wheel 3-in-1!

i have a client that has a lil mynx stainless pole....i actually find it quite grippy...kin of between a mirrored polished stainless (like the ps superpoles) and a brass. and i have very slippery skin.

i think it's a matter of really using your pole a lot too. learning how to adjust your grip and such. also, using the shave gel recommendation.

if i get too slippery, i also wipe the slippery skin parts down with rubbing alcohol, that seems to help too.

My friend has the stainless steel one and I havnt had a problem... Alenas poles are stainless as well...

Clean with rubbing alcohol... wash hands before use and put a drop of alcohol on them or use shaving gel....

You lean to grip any pole with time... I can climb and hang on any material... but when I first started I could only climb and hang on brass...

It takes time but it will happen I promise.. just keep trying different grips and different ways to position your body

I have a mnyx stainless pro pole as well. As my grip has gotten stronger I can hold on longer but still not as well as brass. It's obnoxious that i have to wipe it down so frequently as it messes up my "flow" when Im dancing to a song. I still wonder why the choice is so limited...I want a brass pro pole. You would think if enough people complained to the company they would make a brass one...it is the best material. Just makes absolutely no sense to me.

I have the lil mynx rotator pole and it's stainless steel. It sucks that it has no grip and I bought some gymnasts chalk at Sports Authority to help a bit... It's still not the same as brass, though. I'm just going to sell it and buying a brass pole this summer.

After reading alot of reviews for Lil Mynx here I decided to get me one. I have the white powdercoated stationary pole. There isn't a day that I regret my purchase. I just wish my ceilings were higher.

The grip on mine seems fine. I haven't had any problems. And the best part is there are no more girls putting their lotion or oil on my pole to make me slip!

I have a Lil Mynx and have had no problems. In fact the pole at my club is more difficult to grip than my Mynx. I think it has to do a lot with grip strength. I use the mindset..if I can do sweet moves on a difficult pole I can Definitely do them on the pole at work.
