My most beautiful girl,
I remember the first time I saw you, now nearly two years ago, standing in the bar at the Casa del Mar in Santa Monica, illuminated by the Pacific sunset and radiant in every way possible. You were on your cell, talking to me, while I was watching you from 20 feet away. We had never met before. You said, "Where are you?" I said, "Twenty feet to your right." You instantly looked left, which caused me to break out in a broad smile. My wonderful, inspiring, beautiful, irresistible ADHD girl. "Your other left, baby." And that was the beginning of something so wonderful I can't even begin to describe it.
It would be some time before I came to understand the depth of your generosity and kindness and devotion to those who are important to you, those you have committed to, and not surprisingly those who may have had fewer choices in life. Never, ever have I seen you waver in your dedication and commitment to the people you have chosen to be part of your life. And you never, ever disappoint.
The generosity of spirit at the core of your being may very well have no equal. The only possible competition may be your unwavering physical passion, intensity and insanity, unbounded and endless, overwhelming and powerful, often driven to the very edge of human endurance. It's the sweaty, powerful, embracing struggle between control and submission, a gift that in your hands is a beautiful manifestation of perfect compatibility. And kindness.
My sincerest wish for you on your birthday, baby, is that the world around you wakes up to the joy you bring to all our lives, and for one single, special day allows you to bask in that very special warmth we always feel in your presence.
Happy Birthday, baby!
