Would you do this? I don't know if I could. I do work with a girl that eats only 1000 calories a day but she looks good. She is really tall and has super long legs.

This diet was designed for very obese people, not girls lookin to lose 20 lbs. Its for people who are hundred of lbs overweight. It is also dangerous...need to do it under a doctors supervision. As the website said, it will put your body into a state of ketosis.
I'd never do anything which requires food suppliments. I'd rather eat my calories than have them compacted into a shake or bar. It's also uber expensive; you can do on your own for free. Plus I love to do intense work-outs which you can't do on that diet which I think is ridiculous. You'd end up being a skinny fat person, all soft and flabby even though small.

It will all come back and then some when you finally go off the diet. Not worth it.

Has anyone read this "Diet for Dancers" book? http://www.amazon.com/Diet-Dancers-C...7103817&sr=8-1
If I personally eat more than 1100-1200 calories a day I gain weight, but I only work out about 3 hours a week. I'm pretty petite though and I must have a metabolism like a slug. I've never been one of those girls who can eat for days and not gain weight.
I was thinking about ordering that book. The descriptions make it sound like it offers tips for eating a low calorie diet but doing so in a nutritious way.

All that medifast food looked gross. Like reconstituted barf. Although it does have good portion sizes in place I might give it a try sans their gross food but with my own food.

i try to only eat 1000 calories a day, and i weigh 145![]()

^^Depends on what that 1000 of food is. If its 1000 cal of high calorie high fat foods then its not helping. A 1000 cal of fruits, veggies and vegetables in good portions is the exact same number of calories in a healthier easier to digest way.

mainly lean quizens, whole wheat pasta, energy drinks, and smoothies. i havent had fast food in 2 weeks.

Not to be all nit picky just stating okie. But smoothies unless homemade have alot of extra sugar in them. I consider a smoothie homemade though made with only fruit, little juice and ice. No sorbet or extra sugary anything.

I could probably gain weight if I ate 50 calories a day.. but I work out so I'm able to stay in shape. I used to be so fit and so toned, but I think my metabolism has slowed waaaay down.As far as this diet, I don't like meal replacements. I can't get full from them, even if I feel 'full', I guess just mentally, I need to feel like I've eaten. That's why I could only do slimfast as a quickie breakfast before school and stuff. But if I could eat like this to maintain weight, I would .. I just love food too much..
srry...ketosis is...??
edit: okay, I realized I have the power of google, srry for the stupid question.
Actually, that sounds a lot like my regular eating... I probably eat a grand total of 1,000 calories a day but my weight loss is still SO slow!
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
The body will eventually slow the metabolism. It's hard-wired to avoid starvation, and by eating so low under your RMR and daily burned calories through normal activity and exercise, it feels like it's going to starve. Kick it up to 1400 as long as you're doing some exercise 3 or more times per week.

thank you, sexkitten. so many women think it's the calories and that eating less is the way to maintain weight. but it's not so much the amount of calories as what one does with them (and of course the kind of calories they are). exercise that is consistent and regular pretty well means one can eat just about whatever they'd like to eat.

You're eating too little that is why you are unable to shift anymore weight ( I assume you are trying to loose?) I would add an extra 500 to your diet.
You should be eating little but often. 5-6 small meal's every few hours is ideal. You probably need to add more protein to your diet also.
Btw energy drinks are loaded with sugar hun.

i eat around 1000 calories a day... but on the days that i work, i only eat 400, if that.
it may not be totally healthy, but i've lost 20 pounds, and 10 more to go![]()
Not that i need to even be in this thread or giving diet advice
But there is such thing as the 2,4,6,8 diet. So that your body doesn't freak out and or pile on weight and cling to excess calories.
but agreed it all depends where that 1000 calories comes from and when you are eating it.

I wouldn't do it, but I'd switch to include more protein, fruits and veggies. If you do this, you'll find you are easily satisfied anyway.
Tall people need more calories. If she's a dancer, she's burning a lot of calories, not to mention the basal metabolic rate is like, 1200 for an average sized woman. Basically, she won't be able to keep that 1000/day for long if she's going to be healthy...

Egads. I couldn't even wrap my brain around such small caloric #s as that. I'll stick with my 2k a day thing.![]()
