    Default I have to lose 10 kg quick!

    Went to the doctor today, and boy was it depressing.

    I have to lose around 10 fairly quickly, to control my condition, or I may never be able to have children.

    I cant fast/soup diet etc.

    Im limited in the exercise I can do (nothing heavy on upper body, not too much impact) as I have a slipped disc.

    A trip to a nutritionist is planned, and Ill start swimming more as soon as school goes back in (its horrible to do laps with kids in the lane messing about, and the lifeguards dont do much) but I really need some more advice on how to do this safely, but quickly.

    Ive always liked being curvier, but it might prevent me from having kids-which is important to us.

    If you need to lose weight in order to help your reproductivity, then doing it fast isn't the best way to do it. Any fast weight loss usually is not permenant or healthy. Since you need to do this to become healthier, than you need to do it the healthy way. 1-2 lbs per week.

    Best way? Portion control. Eat 3 meals, 2 snacks per day, maek healthy choices, lots of veggies and fruit, make sure you get lean protien, drink lots of water. Cut out ALL beverages that contain calories. No more soda. Just water. Drink your coffee in the am, then water all day. Aim for a gallon a day. Make sure you get plenty of fiber, as it keeps you feeling full, and keeps you regular. Try for 30 grams of fiber per day.
    Cut out all junk from your diet. No fast food, no hoho's or refined sugar snacks.

    If you eat healthy, you will lose weight without a "diet" Just a healthy eating change. This is much more important that a crash det, because you will lose weight, keep it off, and become healthy enough to support a pregnancy, since that is your goal.

    And while your at it..start taking a folic acid suppliment.

    why can't you do a juice fast?

    You won't lose the weight quickly without something drastic, and a juice fast isn't as bad as it sounds.

    I have PCOS too, and I know that for some women the condition will go away if they lose the weight (not for me though...i never got obese). I know how hard it is to lose weight when your blood sugar starts working against you. PCOS is the only condition besides thyroid that can make you gain weight uncontrollably...it's also one of the only conditions that nutritionists actually suggest an atkins like thing- no carbs to make yourself go into ketosis...it has something to do with the the way the condition fucks up the blood sugar. I read a well respected nutritionist who said that she usually doesn't recommend such extremes, but that for polycystic women it sometimes is the only thing that works...I will try to find a link.

    I mean, if that is the case. It just sounds like it.

    I wish that I WAS obese, so much easier to lose weight, after being sedentry rather than just a few kg, when youre quite fit!
    Im in the 'overweight' bmi, but Im muscly and athletic. I prefer my body thicker. I actually had to PUT ON weight a few years ago, cos I didnt have enough body fat. I have a 5kg window that I HAVE to be in. If im heavier OR lighter than this window my health is at risk.

    Im hourglass figured tho, so theres hardly any fat on my middle, which is good for my heart.

    Yeah I have problems with my blood sugar, I make too much insulin, and have to control what I eat to maintain my levels, or its nasty. Odd, as my mother is diabetic, and Im the exact opposite!

    So a juice fast or meal supplement isnt possible.
    The nutritionalist has reccommended 6-8 small meals to maintain my blood sugar, and if I eat more often, ill be less likely to 'starve' and grab junk.

    You could do something like South Beach phase 1. Basically lean protein and green veggies. If it were me, I'd probably just have steamed greens like bok choy or chards, plain salad leaves and a very lean protein source like shrimp, chicken breast, etc.
    Everyone I know who's done that has lost weight FAST which is what you need to do. And, it's not a fast. Plus, some doctors do recommend south beach style diets for things like PCOS...so you might find something you can stick with in the process.
