Default a natural beauty is better? rantish...

Congratulations. You are a natural beauty.

You don't need to diet or cover up flaws or die your hair or fix your nose or buy some boobs.

But that doesn't make you Superior.

We ladies who do choose to alter our appearance, even drasticly, and still just as good.

A lot of times I feel like I'm looked down on b/c I choose to be a blonde and cover up my dull brown. Or treated like I'm stupid b/c I chose to have my breasts done. Or called fake b/c I wear colerd contacts and acrilic nails.

And it's not only irl or itc that this happens. It happens right here on SW.

"I'm so natural", certain girls say in almost every post they make. "I'm so proud that I look younger then I am, and that my hair is beautifully glossy without coloring it, that my natural 34DD's are perky and full"

And then there's the whole rediculous thing when anyone wants something changed. not everyone who has 3 or 5 or 7 procedures has BDD , and telling them they're fine and shouldn't do it? well, it's their decission!!!. Yes it's out of concern, but it happens to much. Like, if I started a thread about how I'm planning on getting lipo, 9 of 10 replies would be on how it's unneeded and I'm already "perfect". Well thanks for the support

so what?, you won the gene lotto. Good for you. But you don't need to act like it's SOOOO much better to be real. This whole superiority thing I've been noticing is seriously sad. We should be suportive of eachother, and as long as everyone is healthy and safe about their choices.

I don't realy have a point. I just wanted to say this.

I feel you babe...I do. I had so many people say to me(when hey heard I was getting my boobs done)..dont do it...you look fine..you dont need boobs...
Well..DUH..of course I dont NEED them...nobody NEEDS them...people arent running around the ER yelling "get me a pair of 420cc implants STAT"

    I WANTED them.

And what REALLY bugs me is when celebs who OBVIOUSLY have had work done and/or work out 100 hours a day give interviews wher ethey say " I hate excersize...I just sit around all day eating doritos and ding dongs..I m just lucky"...yeah right. thats why you have a 6-pack... So the rest of us are supposed to be all upset that we didnt win the genetic lottery?

I have so much more respect for people like Carmen Electra who readily admits she works out and diets like a fiend and has had a ton of suurgery to look like she does.

Guess what? We ALL won the genetic lottery in SOME way...I have good skin and pretty blue eyes. The rest of me needs constant work...Not to mention that those of us who are "fake' may have won the lottery in the brains or personality department.

Real or fake....beautiful is beautiful. If you roll out of bed looking like a supermodel....lucky you. Some of us arent so lucky

When SW girls say that they're "natural," do they do so to make modified/ improved/ enhanced/ whatever-you-want-to-call it girls (such as yourself) feel bad? Or are they only pointing out what they've got going on for THEM? I ask because, as someone with minimal appearance enhancements/alterations/ etc., I would of course describe myself as fairly "natural" in appearance, but in no way do I, nor would I, (nor have I, if I've ever called myself "natural" on SW) mean such a thing as an insult. Rather, I'm simply describing myself and my own appearance, and trying to take pride in what little I've got going on.

I'm arguably not the best judge of this kind of thing anyway, as I (of course!) color my hair, and I have tattoos. And I wear makeup. And fake nails to work. And push-up bras the rest of the time, etc.

(AND because I'd love to buy myself a pair of giant boobies someday, when school is over and I can focus more on work and myself. When that day comes, Lola, we'll have to talk about your plastic surgeon, because you look lovely and, dare I say, natural )

I think that's true. There is always something on everyone that someone else looks at with envy. I love my natural eye color and my height. I need a personality augmentation though.

As for the girls bragging about their natural boobs. Go for it. I wish I had great natural boobs, but yeah...genetics, time and fluctuations in my weight have not been so kind to them. Even the best big boob genetics can't fight time.

But that's why god invented plastic surgery!

Hrm... this is an interesting post... thank you Lola....

I both agree and disagree... Yes, I think it's certainly our choice to seek out whatever mode of self-enhancement we desire, and we shouldn't automatically say "yay" or "nay" depending upon our views as to natural/good enhanced/bad... it's not black and white like that.

Personally, I disagree with cosmetic surgery, period. But again, that is on a very personal level, meaning I'd never get it for myself. Do I think other women look terrific after their procedures? Sure. I would only share my arguments for/against in a women's studies class or if someone actually WAnTed to debate the subject. At the same time, I cannot call myself completely natural, either... when customers ask me, "You're so small and wiry! You must have such a fast metabolism! You barely weigh over 100 lbs! You're so lucky, etc."

What am I supposed to say to that??? That it's not natural, that no with these hips is REALLy that skinny, you dumbass?? That I've been sticking spoons down my throat for 8 years and totally paying the price for it now? so I somewhat understand the debate, though I am offering up a different perspective.

This thread makes me happy. Like, glowing-happy that someone would come out and say it.

I color my hair, wear contacts (though not colored but instead of glasses, so I guess for cosmetic reasons), wear makeup (sometimes, gasp, LOTS), diet, spend too much time at the gym, tan, get fake nails, laser off scars, and am scheduled for boobs. And I like it. I enjoy enhancing myself. Do I think I'm ugly without it all? No. But why not make a good thing better?

I think alot of the "oh you don't need it" is just support. If anyone is nasty about others looks it's jealousy, be proud.

Only little girls are natural beauties these days.

I wanted to clairify, I'm just starting a discussion. I'm not pointing fingers or getting angry, just making observations on what I see..... I thought it'd be an interesting thing to learn others point of views. When I said this is rantish, I mean b/c it's pretty free form and stream of consciousness.

and it's so interesting how people will praise the natural so much, but they prefer a woman shaved, pluched, groomed, madeup and all sexified. It's a huge mixed message. Or the treads I've seen on here of how he loves the implants even though he said he hated the idea!

And I do have some natural beauty. As was pointed out, we all do. But it's not untill I put on the lashes and the red lipstick and the heals and the makeup and dye my hair blonde that I get noticed and approached and bought drinks for..... By the same people who love the natural!

And personally, i love a true natural beauty. A person like nicole kidman that was just born beautiful and statuesque and wakes up looking like a goddess. But, in my like, I've only knowna handful of those. But I've known countless "work-at-it" beauties.

This reminds me of something. In class a few weeks ago i was admiring a girl that really looked like a natural beauty, Like she just rolled out of the gym, came to class, and looked so pretty in her face. The next week i see her...ah that was not the case so much, she must have just really did a good job at the "natural" makeup look.
And no i am not saying this to be mean...i still think she is a very pretty girl, but even the ones that seem like such natural beauties have their moments where you would not recognize them.
I understand this post completely, i get real noticed when i "doll" up to the tee.
I was blessed with nice clear skin but i have to work at eating right and proper hydration to get that great glowing fresh skin look. I need a bottle to have the glowing "tan" look.

I went out to dinner with my sister and her roomate. Her roomate was stunning. A total "natural beauty" and I was so jealous! At first. then I learned what she does to keep that natural look, and I wont go into long boring details, but she deprives herself.

K, So I'm not natural (although I hate being called fake. It's not fake, it all looks, feels and tastes real to me!) but I'm happy, and really, that's all that matters damnit! Me! Me being happy.

And as it turns out, this fantastically gorgeous natural girl was jealous of my great big fake bewbies and colored hair!

I'm guilty of bragging about my natural perky 36D boobies from time to time hehe. But I have nothing against implants and I plan on getting mine done once mine don't look so nice anymore. It's important that we look good in our business, and I see nothing wrong with getting plastic surgery, coloring our hair, tanning, getting acrylic nails, etc. I think Pamela Anderson is one of the prettiest women in the world and whenever I mention this, most girls are like "Ewww no way! She's so fake looking! Angelina Jolie is soooo much better. Her lips are real and her tits are real." I'll take Pamela over Angelina any day.

    Hm-

    Interesting.

I'm into the natual thing, so may be guilty of 'boasting' about it, I dunno. I definitely don't think of myself as better because of it, but for reasons of convenience, I am happy that I don't have the need to alter my looks. (ETA: within this, I'm fully aware that many enhanced girls are considered more attractive than me, which I'm fine with).

It's not an 'I'm so pretty I don't need surgery' thing (far from!), it's a 'I don't have the time, patience or money for surgery, so phew, thank god I don't want it'. My looks aren't usually a priority of mine (I don't think of this as good or bad...just neutral)...so really, I'm natural by default.

It's an interesting topic, I hope we get some good discussion going here.

Keep in mind that no one is perfect and we all have our flaws.

And as long as it looks good, who cares if it's real or fake.

But I think there is a difference between enhancement, and a total 360 change. You can change certain things and still be recognizeable. But either, whatever makes you happy that's what it all comes down to.

I think there's some degree of jealousy in the women that brag about being naturally beautiful (not all, but most). It's kind of like they're concentrating on what they percieve as a negative in other women in order to draw attention away from their own insecurities. Does that make any sense? A woman who is truly secure with herself will compliment others, and not do the "I've got something you don't have" thing. So to all the enhanced/made up/hair colored/gym buffed girls, take the bragging as a good thing

Very well said! It's funny how if a girl gets implants, she's looked down on. But if a girl gets a reduction thats ok?!?!

I think, and this is being honest and not boastful, I did win some kind of genetic lottery with my breasts. Which I never knew until stripping, where so many are boob experts and told me so.

But I hate like, almost everything else about my body, except maybe my ankles and my navel. heh

What I can't stand, personally, are skinny people telling me to shut up and love myself. Or, that sounds harsh, but people who have never struggled to lose five pounds, and are just effortlessly slender, expounding on the values of self-love, at least body-wise. And I know that's messed up because anyone should be able to say that stuff if it's true...but I can't help but think "you don't get it...your stomach is so flat, your thighs are so thin". Don't tell me how easy it is to lose weight through self-discipline if you've never had to starve/ run four miles a day and still not be skinny. Ehh, but that's my neurosis. I'm not saying it's right, it's just how I feel.

I think, at the end of the day, a person's body is her own business...even if she does what some might consider reckless things. I'm all J.S. Mill about that stuff. I think people should try to offer help to those who are sick, but it's not something you'll ever be able to forcibly change someone's mind about.

Word, lady. I feel you. I think it's one thing to be confident, and another to make self-love some kind of moral authority. Like, don't hate on me if I feel fat. I don't need to be feeling guilty about feeling fat, since I already feel bad enough just being fat, thankyouverymuch.

Just out of curiosity - why not?
I don't ask that to tick you off - but I do wonder, since at SW we make "beauty" in general some kind of moral authority. If looking good makes you somehow superior, why exactly would not those who look the best with the least effort be the MOST superior?

I realize that not everyone here does this, and that, in fact, nobody does it all the time. But I think it is there enough.

I agree with you 100%. Even though I haven't read all of the 'I'm a natural beauty therefore I'm better than you' threads; I would think it would be just pointing out what they have going for them and like you said, just describing your own appearance and trying to take pride in what little you have going on.

Like you, I'm natural-I have my natural hair color and no surgical enhancements at all. I was definitely not blessed in the bewbies department and have to admit that I'm a little envious of those those that either won the genetic lottery in that area or bought some great boobies!

I definitely don't think that I'm any better my any means-quite the contrary, actually. We work in an image-based business, and if you're born perfect, great and if you get PS to enhance your body, hey, why not? I'm all for making yourself as hot as you possibly can. Hell, I'm about 90% sure I'm going to start saving up for implants.

But if people are going around trying to say that they are better somehow because they were 'born with it', I definitely don't agree with it at all and think it's quite rude.

We are all here to support each other, it's a community and not a place to gloat and try to say that you're better than anyone else. We are all beautiful in our own way and people need to stop being so petty!
