    Guy SC's understaffed- normal?

Just got back from La Bare Dallas's 29 year anniversary party, woo! Had a good time and all, but MAN what a diff world from our side. As already mentioned it was a special event, and the place was PACKED with ladies, and to satisfy this ginormous 300+ crowd how many dancers would you guess there were? ... 20 TOPS I tell ya, if I'd been scantily clad on that stage I'd have been fearing for my life lol And hustle, HA! If you wanted a dance you had to hunt the fella down, literally grab him, and defend your prize enroute to the dance area. It was insane to the point I felt supremely lucky when my dancer took the extra *minute* to escort me back to my table when our time was over. Just wondering, is this ridiculous dancer-custy ratio normal for guy SC's?

And P.S., some other things I thought were weird; stage rotations had no apparent rhyme nor reason- some guys were on side stages practically all night, while others hardly ever went up, and it didn't seem like they were bumping in any order, or at all really, just utter randomness. And the songs were ALL butchered- the DJ was spinning like it was a remix contest; half a song here, a catchy chorus from another there, then audience sing-along from something else for a verse or two, on and on and on. Kept the energy high but it also made me apprehensive about getting dances as there was no reliable timing.

P.P.S. Angelo, I salute you! rowwr

My honey used to dance at LaBare Austin and the ratio was usually 10 guys to 20 woman ALL night. Those Dallas guys have it easy : ) Their stage rotations are really weird though. Which stage you could dance on was a matter of seniority and favoritism, but there was a rotation. Going on the main stage is a major priviledge for those guys since they made the most money there.

LaBare Houston is just like that. Some guys stay on side stages only because they are new and don't have a "routine". Its apples to oranges when you compare it to a female SC. As a matter of fact, modern day male SC are closer to what our industry was like 20 years ago. As Melonie states, its more "show business" than "sex business."

Sadly, I never made it to the LaBare in Austin before it closed, doh! That theater on Congress and Riverside is cursed I tell ya!

20 bucks and a trip to Dallas is all it takes Dottie ;]

And that's interesting to hear they roll like we used to 20 years ago... gotta say I think their way is better, it definitely felt more like entertainment, a party even!*gasp* I wish we could bring it back, I should do my part and put together a theme or something.
