Hey, I'm trying to fix a tat, but the costs seem to have sky rocketed. Are there reasonable cost places?

Sometimes for quality you gotta pay a pretty penny. I got a 30 dollar tattoo that totally looks like it cost that much >.< The same thing at a REAL studio would probably set me back 80 bucks.
Tattoos do seem to be crazy expensive.

I got my rose on my back at a place on McLoughlin for about $85, now they want about $130 for the same sort of JOB>and they want 1/2 the money down to schedule you out for like 2 weeks in advance! That's crap..

sounds like when guys complain about the cost of dances.
ill pay out the ass for a good tattoo, becuase its forever.
i guess if lapdances were, guys would too. lol.

Good tattoos aren't cheap and cheap tattoos aren't good. Prices have gone up over the past few years. (I speak as the wife of a tattoo artist). Half down does not surprise me, if an artist is busy and booked it's pretty much standard to get half to make sure the client will show for the appointment, if they don't that's $$ out of the artist pocket.
There are certain things in life that price should bot matter, anything that's permanent on your body is one. you should feel comfortable with the artist doing your work and that may or may not come at a price that you aren't used to. Don't get me wrong, you shouldn't pay $300 for something that could cast you $150mbut don't be turned off by the price. Look into other artist and see what their work and prices are for the same piece.

Price really shouldn't be an issue, like Susan said, it's a lifetime piece. Even if you're looking at twice the price at a different studio, that money is peanuts over the course of a lifetime.

You could always date the tatttooist to get a discount...heh heh....
(I'm such a cheapo)
Or you could offer to advertise the tattooist's shop on your G-String at work in exchange for free work.

Ya, around here, a good artist STARTS at 100$ an hour. and it only goes up from there. AND!!! thwy don't even perform nude!!!
(maybe if I tip real good)
it als depends on location. I wanted a small butterfly on my lower tummy. In Vegas, they started at $100. I went home to Pittsburgh, and got it done for $30. Its very small, but I still got a deal. Turned out, the guy who owned the tattoo shop was married to my best friend in high school.

^I'm sure location has a factor in prices too, just like anything else. Any services are dependent on the market price.

you get what you pay for.
Please learn from the mistakes of someone who has a few cheap tattoos, and pony up the extra $$$ for a good artist.
There's some independent guy(who doesn't have a his own shop) a woman recommeneded. I totally think I'd not go there. I'll get a few quotes from other places though.
