    why cant we keep girls?

my club is fairly new.. it existed before but by a different name and totally different style. Back in November we had a grand opening as the new club and went from a dump to a "luxury gentleman's club". Our prices are a little higher but still stays in the same price range of the other clubs around. We have probably 4-5 other clubs in the area and although things have been a little slow lately, from what I can tell they are at all the other local clubs too. So here's my question.. why do we constantly have girls walk out and leave us, complaining about how it sucks after a shitty night? The other clubs all have shitty nights.. but their girls are loyal and stay with them, not even complaining. We have the nicest club around.. and 11 girls on schedule? I don't get it! I've never worked at another club so I don't know if we're doing something wrong compared to everyone else. Our house fees arent too extreme (30 on week days and 60 on fri and sat) but the nicest club near us has about the same.. and they have about 30 girls working for them. I'm really confused and want to help my club get back on their feet.. can anyone clue me in? I had just started working there over this summer.. but I almost feel like girls were happier in the dumpy club...

Ashlee, it sounds to me as if you are a manager, (who may not have experience as a manager in the first place) and are asking these questions. Because IMO there is no loyalty in the stripping industry. Money pays your bills, not being loyal to an empty club.

A lot of customers might even feel loyalty to the clubs as well. Even if a club is dead, it might not be AS dead as other clubs. I would tell the manager to get a REALLY good promotions guy. That always helps buisness.

this is true.. but we have more good nights than bad nights. Some nights are slow but other nights we have more custys than any of the other clubs around. haha i guess I do sound like a manager.. but I wanted to maybe help them if I could learn anything here because theyve had a lot of conversations with the few girls we do keep and I'm personally fed up with being overworked cause we cant keep people. The girls who have stayed with us for a while make good money.. but it seems like new people who come in either cant make money there or make more in other places? I dunno maybe I'm dumb for feeling loyalty to a club that probably wouldnt do the same for me. Think maybe id figure it out if I tried somewhere else?

HOnestly, yes I do honey. Let me tell you, my first club I LOVED IT! I loved the money, the girls the management. We had alot more slow nights than fast nights, but like you I was so loyal. I took a trip to FL to visit a friend of mine and I worked in a club for about a week. It blew my mind the amount of money I could make! I made it in less time than my usual 7-8hr/shift at my home club too.

When I came back to my homeclub, it was like I saw the light. I fought hard to stay at my homeclub, but I knew that (after making $$$, real $ for a change) that I deserved BETTER! My manager started to change on me, acting like an ass. That too led fuel to the fire because in my mind, he knew the truth, that I had gotten a taste of what REAL STRIPCLUB MONEY was all about!

I went to greener pastures and I've never looked back.

Where is the club? You just say northeast, but don't specify.

You are new to the business, but the girls coming and going are not. In all honesty, a lot of newbies are okay with making a certain level of money that regular dancers are not. I'm not sure what you find acceptable, but you might see a girl making $200-300 and think it's good, but she may not be happy with it knowing she can regularly break that elsewhere.

Also, having a lot of customers isn't really as important as having quality customers. If you are in NYC, you can have a club with 10 Wall street guys or 50 college kids. Where would you rather work?

It's also more than housefees. It's club's cut. There is one club in Philly that a lot of girls like because it has lots of customers, but you have to pay such a large percentage of your earnings (on top of housefees). I don't want to work there. My club always looks "dead" but if I can get a guy to spend money (and I'm fairly experienced, so I usually can), I keep the large majority of it.

one club i worked at traded low customer count for high customer count. the problem was that when they had fewer customers, average customer spending was 100-300$ for stage tips and dances (mostly on dances). so to the girls, the club was full of good customers despite only being at say 30 percent capacity.

management just wanted butts in seats, so they lowered the cover and got a packed club most nights of the week.

customer spending dropped down to 20-50$ average (not joking) and suddenly it was hard to make money despite the club being 'full'.

so those girls at the 'slow' clubs may be working at slow clubs with spenders. and i have to say, a club where every guy comes in expecting to spend 100 or more is a pretty nice club to work, simply because you are unlikely to have a crappy night even with only 30 or 50 guys in for the night.

Many clubs want seats filled (read door fees and opportunity to sell drinks), sell drinks (moreso in liquor clubs - how many juices can you buy?), stage fees/tips (read more dancers, no house salaries), dance sales (read house cut), and lots of dancers (read more dance sales). This of course leaves out the income of the dancers which is only secondary to many clubs. This is just business as usual. Dancers will begin to want more as they get more experience and talk to dancers in other clubs. Maybe they think the grass is greener there.

I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.

Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

NOTE: anything I post here, outside of a direct quote, is my opinion only, which I am entitled to. Take it for what you estimate it is worth.

Offer low/no house fees for a couple of months, and dancers will try the club out. Once they are established in the club they will stay if house fees are added back in in the future.

It is that simple. Dancers need an enticement to step outside their routine, just like every other human being on the planet. Once they have a routine established at your club, they will stay on.

Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

Like Paris said, no housefees and no schedules. This is how you attract dancers. Oh yeah, no 2-4-1's or merchandise. Unless the stage shows generate a good deal of income, only have the girls go up every 1-2 hours so that they can work the room and sell dances. Most importantly, give the dancers respect.

To attract customers, do features, offer drink promos (but not on pitchers --> college kids), advertise.

I have a feeling I know which club you are talking about. You have to consider that other dancers know that a club with few dancers is problematic for the dancer. It means that dancers may have more stage time and less time to work the custies. Also, they may see a lot of people come in and leave again because they don't see a lot of dancers.

Bottom line is, the dancers are looking for greener pastures, and your club is not out doing their home club. In your home club, you are a lot more comfortable working, so why should they bother getting to know a new crowd.

OMG this is such a good point. My club rarely gets very busy, but the regular dancers don't really complain about it all that much, because overall we make good money there.
