Default The strangest thing I ever heard......

....come out of a stripper's mouth!

(I think this post would belong here, if not, my apologies).

I am always reading stuff in this part of SW about diets, fat burners, dancers tracking their progressive weight loss, et. Ok, yeah, I get that and I work on my body everyday to stay thin, fit, toned and healthy.

So, there is a dancer that I work with who all of a sudden started balooning around two months ago. She figured she was preggers. She even got married because she thought she was preggers. She has gone from 125 to 155.

She has had a blood test and urine test and they both say negative. She is having an ultrasound tomorrow.

But this is not the point. At around 5'5" she tells me that if she is not preggers she only wants to lose about 5lbs.!!! Mostly because her boobs look great.

But damn!! Most of us work so hard to fit and toned and I hate to say but she looks like a big, white baby whale.....and she likes it!!!

Ladies, is there anyone here that would aspire to go from 125 to 150 at that height? Do you think it would be a good career move? Seriously??

I don't know, it just shocked me.

Depends on what it looks like on the person. 150 isn't BAD for her height... but every person holds their weight differently. I'm at 146 right now, at 5'3" and I look good. So it's really hard to say yes or no until you see yourself AT that weight, and see the fat ends up.

If she feels more confident with the extra weight on then yes maybe it is a good career move. Ive seen plenty of larger girls bank anyway, good on em. plenty of guys like bigger women. (-:

I guess you're right, but she did look better before. She was already kind of soft and voluptuous. It's not a firm weight gain, either.

But, I guess if she feel more confident, then more power to her.

well, it sounds like she has a health problem if she isnt preggo and not stuffing her face(?) like crazy to get to that big white baby whale status lol...but hey if she is comfy with her body, good for her...

Ohh... forgot! Was/is she on any medication? I went from 120 to 165 thanks to medications. I gained it real fast too.

Paige, what were you on? Was it any sort of anti-depressant? One of the bartenders who works at my club was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease last Dec. She is now on some sort of steroid to help counter-act her condition. It has increased her weight as well. She was getting a lot of print modeling work.

But my friend, no, not that I know of. (OMG!!! Totally off subject but she was SMOKING CIGGIES TODAY )

One of them was, yep. And I was also on two types of meds for sleep problems. I've always hated my deression/OCD meds for the weight gain. But I've been hitting the gym so I'm down to 146 from 165! I'd like to get back to 125, honestly. It's a proper weight for my height, and I liked how I looked. Yanno? Still had the curves but didn't have the tummy.

well, that's all good for her if she's happy...but then there are other factors in our business besides being comfortable at a particular weight.

will the customers still being as attracted to her?

maybe she has a thyroid issue. that causes weight to go either way. and pretty drastic.

I would not feel comfortable with a 25 lb weight gain, I am 5'0 so literally every pound shows. I'm at 115 right now and that's a bit heavy for my frame. I suppose it just matters all about your frame and what not.

So she got married because she thought she was pregnant... but it sounds like she didn't take the test until recently? I think I'm confused about that one. If you're having a shotgun wedding, wouldn't you want to be sure?

I cannot even begin to explain that part of the story

But, from what I have heard they are soulmates.

Yeah I got fat from steroids a few yrs ago... I gained it practically overnight, and it's taken me years to whittle down.

I'm curious if she's actually pregnant. Let us know how her US went please!

My cousin had a drastic weight gain and it was her thyroid. I think someone mentioned it could be that already...

Uuummm, I'm 135 lbs, 5' ONE" and I look like my icon. How can you look like a whale at 150 and 5'5"....?

Maybe my body is just weird though because nobody's heights/weights ever made any flipping sense to me.

Maybe she's trying to portray over-confidence ("I like how I look") to make up for feeling fat.

I'm 5'6 (one inch taller than the woman in question) and I have never been able to maintain a weight less than 150. That was when I was in the Army, running and working out and doing hard physical work every day. My weigh in weight was supposed to be 146, but I almost never made it. they had to do the body-fat test on me. So yeah, 150 for 5'5 does not sound too out of line.

well it completely depends on the body frame... i mean colleen says shes 150, but if you saw her in person, shes not like a BIG girl, ya know? this other girl, might be a BIG girl at 150....

also if shes having the negative test problem (i totally have had that before) along with the weight gain, she could have PCOS like i have... makes ya gain weight (typically) and all kinds of other FUN stuff, lol

Well I'm 5'9" and have always been naturally thin, which I've always haaaated! I think being voluptuous is where it's at! And I knew that I'd lose weight once I started dancing.

So the week before I started dancing I got on Depo (aka the fat shot) so I'd gain weight to compensate for the weight loss.

I was 138 pounds when I started dancing. 4 months later I'm up to 153 pounds, and I love it. Technically, I'm 8 pounds 'overweight' for someone my height/frame/age. But I still look slender. Who comes up with those warped standards that not being stick thin = bad?!?! Hell, I'd love to get up to 175. Bring the curves on!!!!

Numbers obviously don't matter much. What is important is your friend's opinion of herself.
I hope she isn't pregnant and smoking though. Please extend a cyber bitch slap to her from me if that is the case.

First of all, I won't be able to find out about her pregger status for a while because I won't be into work for another two weeks.

OK, I sort of feel like I'm being flamed, well just a little. Those of you who have posted your weights are comfortable with and it sounds like this is the weight you maintain to have a body that you love.

The thing is: she HAD a body that she loved. She was not stick thin at all around 125-130. She even wears things to hide her waist now, so she is not totally proud of it.

I am not dissing anyone's weight at all. Also, I am concerned for her. She maintainded her weight, and never dieted and drank, smoked and ate whatever for over a year that I have known her and then all of a sudden it just happened.

It just baffled me because of all the threads about diets and weight loss on this board and then meeting someone who is more than happy to go in the oppisite direction.

When I get back to work, I'll find out what her situation is and that hopefully she is OK.
