Default Hmm... There's a way to fix this, right?

So I just got my shoes in the mail today, and I encountered the same minor problem I always have with shoes -- I have a long, flat foot, so I can choose between the 7's, which are a little too short length-wise, but don't give me extra room at the top, and the 8's, which don't give me toe-hanging-off-ness like the 7's, but are loose in the straps.

I ordered the 8's this time. See how the clear plastic strap is too big? I can wear them, but it sucks to have to think about holding them on all the time, you know? I can't just swing my feet around without putting in effort to keep them on, if you know what I mean. Anyone know a way to fix this? Can a cobbler do it?

    Thanks!

I've always had that issue and the moisture created from the plastic and my skin was always enough to keep them on.

I don't see why a shoe doctor couldn't remove the strap, trim it down and re-attach it though...

    Good luck!

Okay.... go to the drug store and pick up Dr. Scholls gel insoles. The puffier (gellier) the better. If they are the full-foot variety trim them so that they line up with the middle of your foot (halfway b/w the heel and the ball of the foot) and make them long enough so that they line up about halfway with your toes (to the middle of the toe knuckles). The idea is that they are the right size to directly fit underneath the strap of the shoe. Glue the insole to the bottom of the shoe padding with crazy glue. This gives you a cushier shoe and a tighter fit.

Use a hairdryer to shrink the plastic onto your skin and form into your foot.

Wow, why didn't I think of that? I have tiny Japanese feet, so anything long enough flops around unless they lace up. Thanks!

^^^ Oh, that would work too? I knew there was somethign with hairdryers, but I thought it was to make the plastic stretch if it was too tight.
