Lightbulb experienced dancers create better atmosphere

The club I work at has about 80% brand newbies and 20% experienced dancers (who have danced elsewhere, some for even 10 years and more).

I always thought shifts where the more experienced girls weren't working would be better for the newbies coz less competition with powerful hustlers.

However I have noticed that when all the newbies are on and none or not many of the experienced girls are working the atmosphere becomes shit and none of the custtomers are spending.

It seems that the girls who knnow how to work it create a better vibe where custies feel that they have to start spending.

The other night none of the more experienced girls were working and it was like getting blood out of a stone trying to get mmoney out of customers.

    What do u think?

yeah it makes sense, when the floor is full of newbies the customer can get someone to sit with him for free, why pay for anything?
also the vibe, I believe. Experienced dancers are better at providing a spendy vibe.

I agree with you. The experienced dancers know how to work a room and keep the energy up. Newbies will often sit and talk for free or walk around with thier arms crossed scared to talk to anyone.

You know - it's not even newbies sometimes though. At my club I HATE working with the bad attitude, wannadance girls. I'm pissed right now thinking of yesterday - this girl was working and she's the type to just sit with a guy who isn't going to buy a dance from her, just to "claim" him, so no other girls can go over there. Guys were coming to my rack and bitching about her. When they'd shake her finally, they'd tell me how she was just asking for money. Like "can I have $10? How about $5?" Anyway, it makes it so much harder to get that positive selling environment when girls are bringing customers down. Or they're used to the quick "wannadance?" so when you approach them, before you can even introduce yourself they have this defense up.

Anyway. Good observation Jaizaine. I agree with you.

Never thought about this before, but I will now. I do hate working shifts with lots of wannadance-girls (fri and sat mostly) because customers will get so sick of it that they don't give you a chance when you approach to talk. On the other hand, maybe customers who are sick of amateurish dancers will appreciate a more mature girls when she comes by. Guys often makes comments to this affect -- they like a girl who knows how to talk, dance and be pleasant company. Of course, they don't know they're complimenting my hustle, but they are.

I agree - I think few things are harder than working a room when the majority of your co-workers are just behaving like Girls Gone Wild amateurs, sitting with the youngest/cutest/most obnoxious customers ENDLESSLY, for free, doing shots, etc. etc.

And I thought it was just me. I knew I wasn't going crazy.

This time of year we get alot of fresh faces and I have noticed the club morale go down because of the inexperienced newbies and the negative vibes by the wanna dance girls. It's hard to go in to work when you know it's an uphill battle to get a guy to spend when your competition is camping out with these guys like they have nothing else to do.

IMO They're not being properly trained by staff and alot of these girls don't respect the business and care about how they are being perceived by others.

The stage as of late has turned into a trashy display of club dancing. There is no hustling. Girls are whining about their earnings to customers and how much the club charges them. It's like they're wearing their newbie status as a badge of honor.

My club has repeatedly tried to address these issues with the new girls that come in, but we still get complaints from customers and veteran dancers. I'm tired of hearing about all of it and it's difficult and draining at best to be the only one trying to up the spending vibe at my club.

Some of these girls have never held a job before and it shows. Stripping is not all that's glamorized in the media. The jaded mentality that some of these girls bring to the business is annoying at best. I can't wait until they realize how much of a dog eat dog world it really is...

Oh yes. I'd much rather work with a bunch of experienced girls, and girls with good attitudes. Newbies and girls with bad attitudes can ruin an entire room.

From a customer perspective, I agree with you completely. I have left a club a few times with a lot of cash in my pocket (that I intended to spend), because I could not shake one of these types. Took the fun out of the evening.

Also, some have taken so much of my time, that it cut into the time/money that I would have spent on someone else. I am polite and a gentleman, so I just can't bring myself to say "scram will you." I would think after politely decling three or four dance requests she would get the picture. Then again sometimes they don't get the picture when you give a good tip to a dancer on the stage and ask her to join you when she is done.

I think this is a valid point, Jaizaine.

I feel this is very similar to the way dance specials cater to cheap crowds.

I totally agree. At the moment one of our clubs is overrun with newbies...there was one night where I only knew ONE girl in the changeroom, we both freaked out...we found it's even worse because they're ALL newbies and there's hardly any of the older girls around, they basically didn't introduce themselves at all, helped themselves to our stuff, and acted like they own the place.

We're actually having major issues with a few new girls that have really disrespected the older dancers and brought down the moral of the entire club.

I also think they're just more shy at the start and aren't sure how they should behave. I was put up with a newbie for her first podium on a night when I was the only experienced one around and she was like "yay! someone to learn off!" when she came down she said she doesn't think she'll ever have the confidence to do what i do.

But then again, I am the noisy, hyperactive, insane one that runs around squealing and screaming at everyone, so I don't blame her, but still. Hehe.

Oh and umm...a point that's been brought up at our club lately...it's always the new girls that steal...

My ego takes a beating when the experienced girls work. They hustle circles around me. Aside from that, I like when they are working. They get the customers in spendy moods and drive out the jerks with only nickels in their pockets.

I noticed newbies don't know how to say no when a slick, pervy customer tries something on them. And the poor newbie doesn't know that she consented to an "extra" until after the fact. You can't pull that shit with an experienced girl.

actually IMO it has nothing to do with newbie-ness as there can be experienced dancers who can ruin it for everyone as well (i have done this every once in a while so i can speak as one of the 'bad attitude' girls just that generally overall i'm a good attitude girl... those 'bad attitude' nights aren't that common)

It has to with QUALITY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When the club is full of dancers who know what the hell they are doing regardless of how long they have been in the industry... thus QUALITY dancers... this is when the club is rockin'.

It is when the QUALITY starts to go downhill that it sucks.

Yet I have resigned myself to the fact that, unfortunately, the clubs couldn't give a fuck about the quality (and IMO are shooting themselves in the foot) thus we have to put up with those bad nights because it is the club is full of girls who don't have a clue.

(warning: i'm about to thread jack in a way)

I say this because the club I work in up in Darwin has this problem. They think that the supply of dancers will be endless... and yes it will be.. they can replace any of us anytime whenever they so desire with another dancer.... yet they are pissing off all the good QUALITY dancers... when will they get it that the supply of QUALITY dancers is NOT unlimited and they will end up shooting themselves in the foot because all they can supply themselves with is only the odd quality dancer and the rest sub-standard ??? --- end rant

^Well, generally speaking, it's the experienced girls who know what the hell they're doing. Most newbies are content to sit and shoot the shit for an hour and do shots, OR they're just afraid to ask for dances so they sit and sit hoping the dudes will ask them but of course they almost never ask because - why should they? They're getting all that entertainment from the girl for free...

To Alaska - when all us old bitches retire you younguns will then be the old bitches complaining about the newbies

agreed- also, experienced girls will bring in the regs, who will encourage others to tip on stage/buy dances... plus they encourage newbies to keep a positive vibe. usually.

^^Oh, man. It's unbeleivable to me how some girls don't value their time. The other night this girl I'd never seen before bragged to me in the dressing room that she sat with a guy for an hour without doing any dances and he gave her a whopping $20...she was completely amazed that he gave her money for "nothing." I was completely amazed that she gave away so much time for all-but free. I did tell her that girls usually charge a lot more for an hour of their time -- I always try to get $150, minimum. She looked at me like I was crazy.

I've known new girls who took the job seriously and were quick learners, though, so I don't want to bag on new girls in general. But I wish the club would give them some kind of training before they throw them out to sink or swim. A club full of sinking dancers is no fun for anyone.

Honest to god a girl was all breathless in the dressing room the other day "that guy just pulled out a hundred!" me: "oh that's good, you sold some dances" her: "ya he got two, and when he paid me he pulled out a hundred and I gave him change" I guess she just saw her first hundred dollar bill?

    anyway.

For me, when a lot of the experienced girls work, I do so well. Partly b/c my competativeness, and b/c of how good the atmosphere is. 3-4 girls who know their shit make a world of difference.

Ahh. Sometimes I miss getting all excited over a $100 bill. I don't think I ever got excited just to SEE one, but still. These days I'd only get mildly excited if I got a $100 as a stage tip.

I can definitely understand this making sense, although it kinda makes me feel stupid because I've only been in this for 6 months so "newbie" still means "me". Luckily I had SW to teach me not to sit and chat for an hour for free. However, the world of houston-stripper-hell, a bunch of experienced dancers makes for a terrible atmosphere, because most of the girls at my club that have been doing this more than 2 years are the ones paying management to recruit those seeking extras of all flavors to them. So why would any of the custies pay me $100 for five dances when the can pay old sally $100 for a blow job. Ew.

But hopefully when I move soon I will be able to agree with this.

Shit man, I dance in Vegas. I can't even remember working with newbies except when I was a newbie... Ahh, the Lake Geneva Sugar Shack. I digress....

Sometimes, I think it's better, sometimes not. New girls sometimes have a glimmer in their eye happy unjaded attitude. I like that. But also, sometimes they don't "get" what's going on also, and that's annoying. I remember I basically let customers group me (while choking back tears) when I first started dancing, because I was very young and I thought I had to do it.... Gross!

I think it's more important that you work with smart and grounded girls, regardless of how long they've been doing it.

I agree with this. Generally I think most old school experienced dancers are cool to work with but there are plenty of experienced dancers who are not cool to work with too. I dig new strippers who know the deal and stick to the rules etc.
Ditto about the clubs and quality verses quantity thing.
