    Default Water Crisis

In Australia we are in a major water shortage, they say if it doesnt rain soon some areas will run completly out of water. I want to know is this the same in other parts of the world.

When I was in the UK 2 years ago there were water restrictions there (in the SE) due to a water shortage. Im not sure how long they lasted for but I was shocked at how much water people were still wasting over there. None of my friends believed that England really had a water shortage worth worrying about.

Vegas is always in a water crisis. we have all kinds of rules and laws on how and when to use water.
We are on a schedule that we can only water the yards 3 days a week, for 2 minutes each time, and only between the hours of 3am-5am or something like that.
No car washing. You can be fined if you use your hose.

What amazes me is that peopel act liek its suprising that Vegas has a water shortage. Umm....You built a city in the damn desert, what did you expect?? They built the largest man made lake in the world for our water supply, Lake Mead. It's fed by the Colorado River. Thats where all of Las Vegas gets its water from.

I wish they would just run a pipe out to the ocean, build a desalinaztion plant, and life would be good. Or go steal some water from the east coast. They seem to get enough. Yeah..I know its not that easy. But Im tired of the damn HOA fining me.

I've only ever experienced a drought like one summer here in PA. That sounds really terrible and I hope Australia gets some rain soon. I will ship you some of my snow from blizzards which you can melt into water next year.

L.A. is in the middle of a bad drought right now too. We got a little rain last Friday but nowhere near enough. They're saying this summer's fire season is going to be really bad because of it. There's already been one major fire, and usually fire season doesn't start until late July.

So it looks like the problem is world wide. I think we do need something like desalinaztion plants. So many people and industrys in Australia use clean water for all the wrong reasons. So one day we all will be drinking recycled water, our own wee!!

Hard to believe that this is going on when large parts of NY and NJ were under water just over a week ago.

I'll do a rain dance for you all!!!

idk... usually West Texas has really bad droughts, in fact, it's been illegal to use fireworks around here for years.... but this winter we had tons of snow, and now we're having rain at least weekly. nowhere near excessive, but it's a nice change. Sorry times are getting hard down there... I've been in a situation where we were limited in the water we could use... that sucks
