    Default Trimming Hair

I'm trying to grow my hair out. I'm waiting a little longer than my usual 8 weeks to color it as to give my hair more time to be healthy! I was wondering how often should I get my hair trimmed? Should I just wait a couple more weeks and get it done when I color it or should I go ahead and get it trimmed (it's been about 9 1/2 weeks since my last trim)?

    Cute avatar!
Anyway, I trim mine only a couple times a year. I do it myself, usually no more than 2 in. at a time. I also don't use any heat applicances on my hair to minimize damage, since I color it also.

We see most color clients every 4-6 weeks... every other visit typically includes a haircut. Depending on the condition of your hair, especially the ends (are they pretty healthy, brittle, prone to split ends?), how quickly your hair grows, and what kind of hairstyle you have (shorter hair tends to look more shaggy and in need of a haircut sooner than longer hair), will determine how long you can go between cuts. The average is 2-3 months.

I trim my own hair every 6-8 weeks. Your hair is shorter so it would probably be better to go around every 6 weeks, unless your hair grows slowly.

I sometimes snip just the split ends off between my color/cut, which I do @every 8-10 weeks. But I try not to do it too often, because I tend to get scissor happy and end up taking a little too much off. If it's only going to be a couple of weeks, I would wait.

i get my hair trimmed every 8 weeks. she'll take a fair amount of a lot of the layers, but only maybe a 1/4 inch off the total length.

Okay so maybe I'll just wait till I go and get my hair done. 1-2 more weeks most likely won't make that big of a difference!

So now I'm trying to decide how I want to dye it - because I'm forever trying to f**k with my hair! Right now it's sort of natural medium blonde with highlights. It's wierd because in some lights and when parted in certain ways it looks pretty blonde and in others it looks pretty normal dirty blonde. So I kind of like that. I was thinking that maybe if I had blonde highlights with darker highlights ( like a dark chocolate brown) in addition to the medium base color? Would this look good? I kind of feel that I should minimally dye it though and try to just have my natural color eventually grow out and then just add some highlights to that. How do I even go about letting my natural color show through without waiting a million years for it to grow out?

So I'm confused....I want my natural color - but have no patience! So I kind of want to keep it how it is because it's simple but then I like the idea of the three colors cause it seems like it'd be sassy and sexy. So if you can understand any of my babbling - I'm opening it up to my friends on stripperweb - suggestions please!

oh - here's a picture of what my hair looks like now....I'm hoping this doesn't end up ridiculously big!

Ok, this is how I do it: (trimming)
I bought a pro hair scissors from Sally's. My hair is all one length, almost to butt.
I usually have it damp, or wet from wash/deep condition. I part down the middle, comb out all tangles, put a non-pulling hair elastic at nape of neck. Then I take smaller elastics, & about every inch or so down length, keep putting those in to about 2 inches from the very ends. I take the scissors & snip about 2 in. or so off. I just did this, & my hair looks way better already. I've been doing this for years now. I also cut only at the 1st quarter moon, pref. when it's in a water sign. Good luck.
