I saw that last night... that kid is damn lucky! What the hell was he doing there?
He's got a great story to tell for the rest of his life. He is so lucky that's all that he was left with. I don't know how he wasn't paralyzed or killed by a hit like that. Don't you know that football player was shaken up! I wouldn't be able to play again for awhile if it was me.
Where the hell were his stupid ass parents? So manypeople should not breed these days it's horrifying. Poor little baby. I know this is meant to be funny but it makes me angry!

I saw an interview with the mom this morning and she was saying "You can't keep your eyes on them at all times. I turned my head to look at one child and..."
I was SO mad when I heard her defensive nonchalance. What idiot lets their babies play on the sidelines when you KNOW that they go outta bounds frequently.
Dumb Bitch.
I cried when i saw the clip becuse the child looked so scared and upset.
^^^ Well, if it makes you feel better, I saw another clip of him last night on the news. He had a big scrape on his forehead but he was grinning like crazy. He's doing perfectly fine.
Kids are weird like that. When my brother was about that age, he was playing in the pool and a water beetle washed into his ear and started burrowing deep into his ear canal. He was in so much pain; he was screaming and screaming like he was being tortured to death. At the ER, they killed the bug (poured peroxide or something into the ear) and once it quit moving, he was fine. They extracted the bug and he took it home in a Dixie cup, just grinning and bragging about it to everyone he met. Young males love stories like that.
As for the parents... well, kids will definitely wander away from you and get into trouble sometimes, but there's no damn reason that kid should've been where he was.
It said he was one of several kids playing on the sidelines as part of a children's festival. Yeah, that's a great idea! Because the 200lb+ football players should stay out of their way!
And what a stupid mother. Who turns their back on their child on the friggin sidelines? Like, hello, do you not realize how dangerous football can be?
I know!! I'll bet that the festival was in the stadium..but not as this parent seemed to think..ON THE 50 YARD LINE!!!!!
You should be far enough away that even if you do take your eyes off him for a "minute"(bet it was longer than that) he still shouldnt be able to get near the game.

From http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkXXBVjundA
"The university is currently looking into changing its policies about allowing children on the field during games."
Why does something always HAVE TO ACTUALLY HAPPEN before people will do something about it? *sigh* Anyone with a brain can tell you that it is far from safe to have young children (or anyone) that close to the 'action'.... geesh!
The "soft wall" is meant to be for the players more than anyone else.

The cameraman was across the field and most likely figured he would help best by making sure there was a record of what exactly happened. Seriously NO ONE saw the kid until he was hit, and the second that happened there were a zillion people getting help. The player who collided with the kid picked him up, other people were looking for his parents, others were calling for the medic, etc. Plus the kid was crying pretty loudly, which is usually a good indicator that he's going to be okay. There's no reason for the cameraman to run over too.
