    Default high-intensity pigment?

Anyone here use the HiP shadows? How good are they in terms of staying power, colour, etc? I'm curious to try some of the shadow palettes, but after years of wasting $$ on cheap ugly makeup that didn't last, I'm kind of wary about buying any eye makeup that can be found in a drugstore.

I use hip and I love it. I use the duo that has a bright red on it and it is so beautiful on my brown eyes. Yes its worth it to try.

I have the purple one (Valiant) and the bright pink/fuschia one. They work fine. I forget what they cost - they weren't exactly dirt cheap, but less than MAC. I'd recommend them.

If you keep an eye on the Walgreens ads, they frequently go on sale "buy one get one free"

I have a few of the loose powder ones, and they seem to last pretty well. You can apply them wet if you need a little more staying power.

I like the vanilla, pink, and blue brown loose powders. I don't think the staying power was that good for the turquoise/blue duo even though it was a really pretty color. It would always rub off on one eye and people would be like, why do you have one green eye? Maybe if applied wet it would have been better, don't know. Also the pink and brown duo made me look like I had a black eye.

I've read that per ounce it's actually more expensive than mac (at least the pigments are) but if you don't want a bigger tub I suppose it's all the same.

Yep, I have some of the duos and the pigment. I have the fuschia pigment in both MAC and in HIP. I actually put one on one eye and one on the other to test the difference one night at work. There was none. Exact same color and they wore the same. The duos are also good. I love the one with the dark blue/teal. It looks great on! The colors are rich enough that even the black girls at work can use them. The blues I listed above look great on black women!

That was a very good point Venus. She's definately right. You do get more for your money with MAC. If you're in a pinch, go with HIP as you can find it anywhere on the way to work, but she's right. MAC is cheaper.

I've heard great things about it on specktra.net, here's the thread:

Personally, I have too much MAC already that is not being used to buy any more. Plus I realize I've turned into a bit of a makeup snob over the years, haha. But I think these are a good choice for those just getting into makeup or those who want to experiment with color but not buy a full size jar from MAC. You never use it all anyway! Like VG said tho, you can buy samples of MAC piggies on the internet, for less than $5 even if you get at least a few from the same seller. This is how I built up my collection and it's great b/c if you don't like the color at least you didn't waste $20 on the jar. Another good thing is get some of the sample jars, split the cost of the full size pigment with a friend and then you both get a ton of pigment for half the price!

I have a green pigment from the collection and I hardly use it. It's not bad but I wouldn't buy another for that price.

I got 'done' by our club's makeup artist for the firsy time a few nights ago and he had some hip we both wanted to try out. It looked good and stayed on, though there was some raccoon-ness that needed touchup under my eyes a couple times that night.

    search for these terms:

    "mac pigment sample"
    "mac pigment sample lot"

Also if you are looking for a certain color, throw the name in there too.

I think it's better to purchase a lot - right now there is a seller selling 10 samples for 22.50 plus shipping. I love when I get 10 new pigments in the mail!
