    Default This seem slike crap...

I had my wisdom teeth taken out...Yep seems they can come back or the first time years ago, it was not done right???

Well one got infected. I am confused. The surgeon said it appears i have developed 'dry root'? Ok, he says it's not red or swollen and just a touch of this perhaps, as when i push ubove the stiches it's very sore. But the others healed and closed.

He said today it will heal up by itself. I never heard of this. I have no pain, only when i touch it. It's not swollen, or red. But the hole is taking it's slowwww time healing up.

Has anyone had this 'dry root' before. The blood does not clot he said..Hmm, i did not spit or do anything for it not to clot.

Just confused. I was reading all over the web today, and people are in major pain...not me.???

    Confused about this crap.

I've heard of dry sockets. Is that the same thing?

I've never heard of wisdom teeth coming back though. If they take them out how do they come back? Maybe I misunderstood what you meant.

Dry socket is pretty common when they remove lower wisdom teeth. I hear it hurts like hell but it will heal. Just do whatever your dentist tells you to do, to help it heal faster.

Just an fyi, some people have 2 sets of wisdom teeth. My friend had them, I can't remember if they removed both sets the first time, or if she just had to wait, but it is possible.

If what you have is dry socket, I had it. The night I got my wisdom teeth out my dumb boyfriend made me the most beautiful meal....he was just trying to help, and I felt bad if I would say no, so I ate a little..and drank through a straw. And apparently those two things are the worst for you after doing that. I was in so much pain, I called to get my hydrocodone refilled when I ran out, and they told me no, to come in. So for the next two weeks, I had to come in every day to get these little nasty tasting bandages put in the holes.. and they gave me a syringe (w/out a needle) to fill with hot water, and stick in the holes and rinse every time I ate or drank. It was such a pain in the ass....yuck.
Hopefully there's a less painful way to take care of that now..good luck, sweetie

Thank you.....DRY SOCKET. I am scared. This can heal on it's own as he says right? Yea he said i must have had 2 sets of wisdom teeth come in, but almost 15 yrs later!!!!

Dry socket....It's sore at the top of my gum line when i feel it. Other than that the hole is closing very slowwwwly. Gosh been 4 weeks!!! He looked at it 3 times. Today he said it sounds like i may have developed Dry socket.

I don't know what the hell it is. But after reading online today scared the shit out of me...I need to work. I try doing phone a few hours and i have to go off and rest.

It's not massive pain, hardly any, but more sore. I keep looking at the hole with a flashlight, and my roomate laughs at me.

After reading the stories from some of you who had it seems it will clear up without having to be opened and packed, i pray...shit.

I have a date and don't want to go. I never sipped through a straw, and don't smoke. It seemed to have formed a clot, and fast.

Warm salt water rinse good for this? Listerine burns like hell in my mouth right now.

    Thanks for the replies.

Yup, dry socket. Wow Pam, 2 sets of wisdom teeth. Now impart us with all of your wisdom, lol!!!

When I had a dry socket, I went to the ortho a few times and they packed something in the socket that hurt like a mutha, but it healed after a week. I developed the dry socket from sucking dick 2 days after the surgery, not supposed to have suction back there! Or it could have been because I smoke, but I like the dick-sucking as culprit better!

    Could it be an abcess?

I have no drainage. It's not swollen. He said just a touch of dry socket...wtf?

Either way, i will wait until it gets worse or the hole closes up and see what happens.

I am so scared. I don't want to be opened and have packing in there...i need to work. This sucks.

If i sucked dick i would actually have told him so. But i came home and slept for 2 days and ate very little...no sucking. I don't get it.

I sure hope you feel better soon, sweetheart. When I had mine taken out, (awhile ago) the surgeon told me not to spit out (saliva, anything) & yes no drinking thru straw. I forgot, & spit out accidently. I went back in, he said he might have to 'scale' it. Like scrape it. Thank God it healed on its own.

I was reading more online today, and my surgeon may not have been full of BS after all. Dry Socket does heal on it's own i keep reading, but takes alottttt of time. Pain is why patients seek help. I have no pain, just sore that comes and goes. Just an open hole (a tad smaller) and i need the damn thing to close.

I rinse gently after i eat anything...Gosh i feel like i am living the paranoid life.

First he pulled. Then i had a follow up, the one upper wisdom looked like is has puss, i went on a Z-pack antibiotics. Then went back again, he squirted warm solution up in the hole and drained it, it bled. Good sign i guess. I bit on qauze for like 15 minutes, it clotted he said. I did not do anything that the 'rules' say could have caused this.

I see no bone in the hole, just pink flesh but it wont close... like all the others are closed completely. Dry socket is enough to scare the shit out of anyone having teeth pulled...shit.
