    Default anyone from Montreal?

Two of my former students, who are visually impaired, are moving to Montreal. Anyone from there???? They are trying to find a safe area for them and their two toddlers to move into. Because they cannot drive they need an area with good public transportation. I am looking online for their appartment but is hard to get to know what areas are good to live in that way.

    thank you

Your criteria apply to pretty much the entire city--there are very few areas that aren't safe, and there's good public transit everywhere except the distant suburbs. Are your students fluent in French? How much are they willing to spend on an apartment?

Some good neighbourhoods include the Plateau, Mile End, NDG, Westmount, Cote des Neiges, Lasalle, Rosemont, and Old Montreal.

They are fully fluent in French. They are getting public assistance right now and get a certain amount every month for rent. I believe right now they have been paying about $750 dollars a month for rent on a two bedroom. So they are looking for that or less.

Okay, that helps. I think a good neighbourhood for them might be Cote-des-Neiges--there are lots of affordable apartments there, shopping, parks, public transit (it's just about 15 minutes from downtown), and it's probably the most multicultural part of the city. There are some dodgy apartments there, but also some very nice places, especially near l'Universite de Montreal.

FYI, in the arcane language of Montreal rentals, a two-bedroom apartment is commonly known as a 4 1/2.

Anyway, best of luck finding something, and feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
