Default Help Needed please... Top Coat nail polish peeling off

Hello hopefully someone has an idea for me
This has never happened before except just this past year... so when I paint my nails I put a shiney clear top coat on.... I let things get good and dry ...
So when I take a shower (even with just soap no scratchy things) afterwards I'll dry off and look at my nails and the top coat is just peeling off.. Ive gone through probably 7 different types... all ones you can get at CVS or Safeway so not fancy
Im wondering if my nails are just funny .. I cant see how they could sell products that peel off just by taking a shower
Has this happened to anyone? and if so did you ever find a brand that truly doesnt peel?
I did my nails last night after a shower.. then this morning I took a shower and a couple nails are already all peeled off..
ONE thing im thinking maybe i have a residue of oil from lotion still on there when I apply it which makes it not really "stick" to my nails? Im a lotion fanatic so that could happen... Just if anyone has ideas Id appreciate it
Ill try doing them again today and use a cotton ball of nail polish remover first to get all oils off them .. if that solves it i'll post thank you

Make sure your nails are BONE DRY when you apply polish. Applying right out of the shower isn't good, because your nails have absorbed water. This will affect the adhesion of the polish. Also, wipe nails with nail polish remover before applying polish to remove any oils that may be on the nail bed. Always use a basecoat--this is what the polish adheres to. And use a good topcoat--the cheapies don't protect from chipping the way the better brands do--the cheapies tend to be more brittle. Mavala has an excellent base and top coat.

I always think you get what you for. I like Seche Vite, OPI, and Essie at ULTA. Seche Vite is the shiniest, glossiest top coat I have ever used and makes your polish last a super long time.

I used to use Sally's Hard as Nails, but it always peeled and looked nasty. Now I use OPI Nail Envy - great for strong natural nails.

Agreed on the OPI. Definitely pay a little more...it's worth it.

And when I have my nails natural, I still use a base coat before putting on the top coat. Helps it adhere and stay better.
