I absolutely love 'em for lower body. I could never really get the stair climber quite right, so I just started doing high incline on the treadmill. I prefer a brisk walk over running though. I like being able to feel the resistance and focus on the muscles being used. I'm not sure what you mean by non-motorized though. could you elaborate on that?

I really want one for cardio...I just have no room left in my house! I've found several that fold up against a wall....are there any that fold down(so you can store it under a bed)?

c_k, I saw one on qvc, it was a new non-motorized one, more compace than mine, or other ones I've seen. Not sure how it folded for storage tho, go on their site & check it out.
Non-motorized, you step on it, & it runs. No motor to control the speed, you do that. Mine has 3 inclines also.

In all honesty, I join a gym because there's no way I could afford to keep up with the technology that they provide with their cardio equipment. I also like using low weights too, which I know I can afford... but treadmills are pricey!

I use them at the gym .. honestly I couldn't quote brand names or styles, but I like to run on them with an incline .. and I often use the pre-set 'workouts'. There's like fat burn and cardio and hike or something.. I always use cardio. I think treadmills are a fantastic way to get a run in when the weather's bad, or when there's not a good place to run outside.

I've seen a cpl in my area on ebay for less then $200..good ones too like Nordictrack. I dont need anything fancy...but cardio is the only thing missing from my routine and I'll never burn off this layer of fat without it. But I have excersize induced asthma and will have to work up SLLLOOOOWWLLLYYY to being able to do a real cardio workout. I'd rather just be able to jump off if I feel an attack coming on and sit in my own house then collapse a cpl blocks away on a strangers front lawn!!
So I'm excited to get a treadmill

^^ thats why I'm filling my house with gym equipment as i can afford it(the treadmill should be my last thing)

Its so much better to just be able to pop in and do 10-15 minutes whenever I'm bored then to have to carve out a scheduled time in my day.

I walk at a speed of 3 (a 20 minute mile), no incline, for an hour or two... every time I go to the gym. I love me some treadness. w00t!

Anyone have any experience with this one? Its only $100 but I''m afraid it'll be crap and break after like 2 uses....

    I have a Pro-Form CX 18i.

Features fan, incline, handgrip and chest pulse sensor (optional), custom and programmed tracks, adjustable incline, led backlit display, pro shox (to cushion joint impact) and ipod & mp3 capabilities.

I absolutely love it (!) especially the incline, although nothing takes the place of a nature walk.

what's the best way to use the treadmill? what's your routine like? i.e. how many minutes, speed, ect....i want to start using the one at my apts. gym. but i don't have the first clue on how to use it! i've got about 5 lbs. of fat i'd like to burn off (i had a baby 5mo ago) and that last 5lbs. just isn't going to budge with out some cardio!!!

I change it up and do intervals.

a few minutes at 3mph/5% incline a few minutes at 4mph/12% incline, 50% incline at 2.5, back down to 15% at 3.0...

just conmstantly change it up so I dont get boerd. really no rhyme or reason, I just alwyas alter the speed and incline when I feel liek it.
