    Default Awww crap. My hair.

I need a hair cut really, really bad, but Im broke. Against my better judgement, I went to a Great Clips. Now, I know they suck, btu I made it very clear to this woman, Im a model, my hair is important, dont fuck up. She went on and on abotu her 20 years experience, and how good she was..so I took a chance.

My hair is up to my chin.

    I can't afford extensions.

I have modeling jobs booked in Phoenix, LA, and here in vegas over the next 3 months. They are expecting a girl with long blonde hair. Granted, I dyed it red today, but it is a temporary color. It'll wash out in 2 weeks. Unfortunatly my hair wont grow back in 2 weeks.

    Fuck.

My bf wants to go back in and demand they pay for me to get extensions. But its great clips. I didnt expect a great cut...but somethign decent. teh cut isnt bad. The cut is actually pretty good..its the length. I asked how much she cut and she said 6-7 inches. I wanted to lose 2-3.

    Fuck.

I would definitely go in and talk to a manager or owner. You're right, you can't expect something magnificent at a cheap place, but you did give them business, and they ought to do what they can to make you a satisfied customer. I don't know if they would pay for your extensions, but you should definitely tell them it's imperative that your hair be of appropriate length pronto... Just be firm and don't back down, otherwise they won't take your complaint seriously, and they'll just send you off with a Great Clips coupon.. Good luck, sweetie

I don't think they are going to pay hundreds of dollars for extensions on a $12 haircut. By all means, complain and see what you can work out; but I wouldn't count on that particular remedy.

Get clip in extensions. I relied on these when the fucker at Toni & Guy chopped my hair and I no longer felt sexy at work. My hair looked sexy and long while my own hair grew out healthily. You can get human hair ones for about $100 or less if you want to make them yourself. You can curl, straighten them, even color em, but that's a pain in the ass.

If you look on my myspace page, I'm wearing them in the main pic (but that one doesn't really show em off) and on the pics page, the one where I'm grabbing my friends boobs. I like to curl em like Victorias Secret hair and it helps them look more natural and blend with your own hair. I can post some more pics if you like.

    More pics comin right up!

    Victoria's Secret curls

With the smaller 3 barrel waver (rollin my ass off in this pic, haha)

Straight (don't look the best this way, but will do when you don't really feel like getting ready)

They stay in very well at work. I've never had an issue with them slipping or falling out. If you are worried about it, you can tease and hairspray the hair where you put the clip. I did this the first few times I wore them, then realized I didn't need to bother with it. I just twist the section of hair where the clip is going and clip them really close to my scalp. Go for at least 18 inch length hair. These are a God send to me, made the growing out time go soooo much faster.

I was too lazy to make them myself the first time, so I bought them on ebay:

If you don't know your color #, go to a beauty supply and get matched up on the color wheel.

Yay for extra money!! Tuscon is a few hours south and Mesa is 25 minutes away. We're gonna have a lot of fun!!

Thanks!! They look great. I think I might do that. I saw some clip ins at Sally for $80, and they looked good. Im gonn ahave to dye my hair blonde again before I invest in extensions tho, cause this red isnt permenant..was just a fun thing to do for a minute.

How do you curl it to get the soft waves in the first pic? Victorias Secret hair?

You don't put them all the way to the top where your hair in the front is. Put them up to about an inch away from your part. In those pics, my shortest layer is not quite chin length, but definitely above shoulder length. The reason I purchased them was the exact same reason as you - a hairstylist did what they wanted rather than what I told them!!

The best way to make them blend is to style them curly or wavy. As you can see, straight doesn't blend as well (unless you wear them into a salon and have them cut layers into the extensions to help them blend and frame your face, which I never bothered to do.)

"Victoria's Secret Hair" - I should really do a pic tutorial on this as I'm sure many of you have heard me used that phrase numerous times. VS hair is long, loose flowy waves or curls, more wavy than curly. Pay attention to the hair on their site, they have an ongoing theme - Very Sexy, haha.

To get curls like those you need to use a large curling iron and not a cheap one, Hot Tools are my favorite for this. Part of the look is nothing looking too done or perfect, so when I say 1-2 inches be random about it. Do some sections smaller, some bigger, etc. Spray a 1-2 inch section with hair spray and curl STARTING AT THE TOP. Sounds weird, but you start curling 1-2 inches from the root on your hair. Let those couple inches get some heat, then open the curling iron (CI from now on) a tiny bit. Slide it down an inch or two, then wrap the CI back up to wear you started. Let that absorb some heat, the slide the CI down a few more inches and wrap that back up. Do this slowly until you are an inch or two from the ends. DO NOT CURL THE ENDS. That is key to this look - curled ends are too done looking. After you are done making that curl, spray it with soft hold hair spray again. Don't separate it until all your hair is done, just move on the next piece. Do this all over your head, then flip upside down and shake all the curls to loosen them up, flip back over. Run some texturizer pomade LIGHTLY thru your hair to help keep the curls separated. Tease your roots a bit if you need it.

Some lazy girls tips - you can create the same look by curling from the ends up, but still leaving the bottom 1-2 inches out. That doesn't look as great, but just do the top layer with the method above and when you shake it out, it will blend and still look pretty damn good. You can do bigger sections too. But if it's a modeling job or a big night out, I'd go all out. Clip in extensions are awesome for this look esp. With clip ins, you do less damage to your actual hair. If you feel really lazy, you can do it in front of the tv early in the day, then when you get ready, quickly curl your own hair as you put in the extensions then shake it all out and it will look good enough for work. Haha, that's what I do when I'm tired. Except now, my hair has grown long enough not to need em

Whew!! That was a lot to write! I know it sounds kinda complicated, but it's not, I promise. Once you practice a couple times, you will get the hang of it.

Kaylinn - when is your next shoot? I'll do a tutorial for this b/c I'm sure it would help a lot of girls, but I won't be able to do it til the weekend. But definitely buy some clip ins and when you come down I'll show you a couple different ways to do them. I recommend them to everyone since you can totally change your look with zero commitment. Oooh, I can't wait to do your hair and makeup!! I love this kinda stuff!!

Kaylinn- I clip some of my hair back.... I'll take a photo. But since I'm growing out bangs, and they're about chin length, it'll give you another idea of what to do. I pair that with my own VS hair!

    Thanks!!
So far, all the pics I see are making me feel soo much better, everything I was worried about doesn't seem true. All the pics look natural, and they blend well in the front, and look really good. Thanks so much, guys!

You're very welcome. I really felt for you, because I didn't want my hair that short either and it was a shock! And I even went to a higher end salon and got butchered.

And I must REALLY like you to post that horrid pic of me with no makeup!

Ah well, I'm old...I'll deal with it, lol. But trust me, get a good color match and all will be well.

BTW, I didn't cut those extensions at all. When I curled them, they just blended for some reason.

Just for reference Kaylinn, since you asked-

Tucson is about 2 hours south of Phoenix, all highway driving.

Mesa is on the east side of Phoenix.

I got a new question for you extension ladies....
    Any particular brand to recommend?
Im going to buy human hair...and im poor. I've got about $125 to spend on them.
Any recommendations for good looking hair in that price range?
I saw some at Sally's for $80, 18 inch human hair...
    This..only longer.
    Is that any good?

I think Im gonna splurge and get the fusion extensions after all my shooting next month I will have the money, but I gotta get the temporary clip ins just to get me through the shoots.
Whats the price range on the great lengths extensions?

Go to a ghetto type beauty shop and it'll be 100 or less, and they'll match you well.

    Things to look for:
    color (duh)
thin weft (top bit, so it blends and won't show)
    silky healthy feeling hair
when you run your hands through it not a lot falls out

Make sure you bring em down here so I can show you a bunch of different ways to do em. The Sally ones will be fine, they only last so long anyways. Lola is right, the ghetto beauty supply is the best place to go. You will probably get better quality hair at a cheaper price, but they don't always have them already made, just the supplies to make them yourself. Sometimes they do have em already made, but if you want to make them, it's super easy. And if you want them thicker, you can always buy some hair on a weft and sew it on yourself.

Seriously, you will love them!!! Nothing to be nervous about, pretty much everyone can wear them and look fantastic. And they don't fuck up your hair like extensions!!!

Oh, I can't sew for shit either! It's not sewing it's basically knotting them to a clip. I'll try to take some pics of the clips on mine for reference.

The best beauty supply in Vegas is called Beauty Supply Warehouse. I no longer have their card, but I do remember they have 4 locations and the one that is straight up in the ghetto is the best one. I've never seen so much hair in my life!! Try a yellow pages search for them, although they may not sell them pre-made.

Here's what you do when you go in: Tell the SA you need 18 inch human hair to make clip in extensions. They will have several types and different brands, so get one bag of the nicest hair you can afford, plus 12-14 clips.

If you drive down early on Sunday, I can take you to the beauty supply here, get you matched up and show you how to make them. But you would need to be here at least 1-2 hours before they close, which is 5pm.

Okay I found their card, these are their locations:

    1929 N las vegas blvd, 702-649-0500
    1401 N Decatur blvd, 702-648-5162
    3310 S Nellis Blvd, 702-450-1006
    2600 S Maryland Pkway, 702-650-9944

If you do decide to drive down early on Sunday, you could just stay the night here rather than paying for a room in Tucson and we could watch Sopranos and Entourage while we make your extensions and I show you how to wear them. Haha, every Sunday night I am glued to HBO!!

I have 2 shoots here in vegas this weekend that I need the hair for. Im busy as hell lately with modeling!

I'd rather stay in a hotel right in Tucson on monday night, that way Im close by for the shoot Tuesday..but instead of getting a hotel again Tuesday night and driving up the next day, I could drive in that night and stay with you a day eariler...depends on how tired I am after we are finished shooting..how long the shoot lasts...It always tires me out!
But it would be better for my broke ass to drive in and stay with you a day eariler....well....I will have enough cash....it depends on how tired I am and hwo long it lasts...but I will cal you Tuesday for sure and let you know what I'm gonna do...we'll just see how things go....

Oh..Im sooo excited!!! For my hair, for my trip to see you...we're gonna have soo much fun. I cannot WAIT to party with you. I have no partied with a girl by myself is 4 years!!! My bf is always with me. Not that I mind, but you know..a girl needs to be with other girls alone sometimes.

It didn't work. Im completly fucked.

First of all, for some unknown reason, I CANNOT get my blonde back. I have dyed it, stripped it, redyed it, dyed it again using 40 volume....NO BLONDE. Can't get it back. I got it to a light brown, which isnt bad, but it isnt blonde.

I bought the clip in extensions in a light blonde, and bought the matchign blonde hair dye, dyed my hair with that using the 40 volume, and its not blonde. Which means the extensions I bought DONT MATCH. not even fucking close.
As if that werent bad enough, the clip ins suck. There isnt enough hair, And my hair so short and layers no matter what I do, I cant get it to blend in. the pieces stick out to much.

Im freakign out because I have photoshoots comming up, and if I cant fix my hair I gotta cancel them. Cancel my trip to Phoenix, how can I strip with this hair? I will lose over a grand this week in shoots alone.

My dad western unioned me $150 to fix my hair. The extnesions are non returnable. even if I dyed them brown to match my hair there still isnt enough.

We have $300 to our names, and its because my boyfriends dad sent us that money for the electric bill. If we dont pay the electric tomorrow it wil be shut off. So I can fix my hair with the money and have no electricty, or lose all my jobs.

Im soo screwed. Partly my fault for going red, but I never thought Id lose all my hair to, and need to be blodne again. the red was temporary, and I liked it, it just wasnt permenant.

Im freaking out. I dont know what to do. I dont know why the fuck I cant get the blonde back, i cannot go to a salon cause I had no money to, I had to do it cheap, I dont knwo why i cant fix it, I certanly cant try again, or it wil start falling out. I can leave it brown and buy 2 bags of hair and get them glued in, btu I cant afford the hair. I spent all the money on these clip ins that are non returnable.

    I am soo fucked.

NEVER. NEVER get a cheap haircut. Even for a trim. I saved myself about $30 bucks, and it is going to cost me thousands that I do not have.

I can say goodbye to my car. I already got the repo notice, but thought I coudl pay it with my modeling jobs this weekend. I just kissed thoee jobs goodbye. Unless I turn off my electricty to fix my hair.

sorry for the long rant. But this is the LAST fucking thing I needed right now. I was just startign to pick myself up, and get over my rut, now this. How much more am I expected to take?
