    Default I'm an idiot

I tried to dye my dirty blonde hair a more paler, lighter color and of course with my luck a few spots came out orange. It's not too noticeable though. Should I go get it fixed at a salon? How would they fix it?

Why does it always turn orange on me?

Yea, I would..just cause it's not to noticable to you doens't mean it isn't very noticable to others. Have them only fix the section you are unhappy with. Maybe it wont' be that expensive..

So I went to a salon where they were supposedly experts in hair color and was told by a lady with a mustache that they would have to lighten it some more. Isn't re-dying a bad idea? Last time I did that it broke off. Can anyone from Vegas recommend a good coloring salon?

What kind of salon did you go to? Make sure it's a good one...especially when dealing with blonde. I learned the hard way that just cause they will attempt to color your hair doesn't mean they know what they are doing! Good luck!

^Yes exactly. That's what I'm worried about. I went to a salon that specialized in hair coloring, not a big place, but I wasn't too convinced they'd do it right. I can't really afford to get it done but I can't be walking around with multi colored orange and yellow hair either

I am convinced that it is a mistake to color your hair at home. Even if it comes out okay, very rarely does it look fantastic. I did my hair for a long time at home and I will never do it again. Now I only get it colored at a salon (I have an affordable one and a splurge one) and my hair is ten times healthier (better quality hair dye) and looks amazing! If you are not happy with it, they also have to fix it for you.

Go to a salon and get it fixed. The more you fuck with it at home, the less likely you are to be happy and the more damage you cause to your hair.

Unfourtunately, the only way to remove color is through decolorizer, AKA bleach. This is assuming you used a permanent haircolor. The only routes you can take are:

    1. eveing through lightening- most damaging, however a good colorist knows how to best minimize the damage. Call around and see if you can find a Redken salon or any Redken Certified Colorists in your area... they just came out with a new decolizer that is super hydrating- it's called Blonde Icing. My co-worker went from a deep, rich, dark red to a med/light blonde. It took two applications of blonde icing, but her hair is still shiny and doesn't look fried at all.

    2. evening through darkening- this imposes no damage to the hiar if done with a demi permanent color. Depending on where your orangeness is, you may not need all over darkness. A colorist may be able to to simply add low lights and diffuse the orange. Doing an all over dark can be time consuming since hair needs to be filled with it's missing pigment with repeated demi-permanent color until you get to a desirable color... a lot of colorists start charging color corection prices (by the hour) for this option.

The reason you keep seing orange tones with your DIY coloring is because you keep picking colors with warm or red bases. OR, depending on the developer used in the box (which, if it is boxed color like Feria, you'll never know what volume developer your using) your hair could just be lifting to an orange and the color that you've choosen either contains pigments which enhance the orange, or are too light to deposit enough pigment to neutralize the orange.

Check out Citysearch.com for salon reviews in your area. Good luck
