    Default Make-up Foundation Suggestions(Kinda long)

I'm sort of looking for a more "polished" foundation. I'm not even sure if that's the right word.

Right now I use a very light coverage one from Revlon. I think it's "Super Stay Active Light make-up" or something like that. I use it because it has an SPF of 20 and it doesn't have an obvious make-up look to it. I don't need a huge amount of coverage. My skin is clear but I have inherited a tiny bit of rocecea(sp?) bit of redness between my eyes and just a bit around my lower nose area. It dosn't really show unless I have been working out or in the sun for a time.

I am oily, though not excessively and I do have one line between my brows that is never going to go away. (I'm in my thirties). Other than that my face isn't so bad.

(Sorry this is so long). I think what i am looking for is something that has a more glamorous finish, just to change my look up. I know a lot of the girls at work use Mac Studiio Fix. It seems kinda heavy to me. I have been to MAC and have had a couple of lessons and consultation. I always like the eyes, but I have never really been into the foundations they have used on me.

I tried to do a search and nothing was really coming up. So any suggestions would be great.

    honestly.. i use bare minerals.

then i use mac studio fix for touch ups.

bare minerals all the way! great coverage, not heavy at all!!! just make sure your moisturizer is dry before you start buffing...

    i use minerals from smokymountainminerals.com

i like them cause they don't use the Bismuth Oxycholoride like most of bigger brands do...which can definatly irritate rosacea. i haven't had a flair up in years of mine!

I was thinking minerals too, but she put that she wanted a more "glamourous" finish. Aren't the minerals light and natural looking?

^agreed...the more you buff on too, the more coverage you get.

I have LOTS of freckles all over my face, if I really want to totally cover them, i'll mix a bit of the powder concealer with the minerals and it will totally hide them. it stays on in water too, so if i go swimming or sweat, it won't run off!

plus the stuff lasts FOREVER, especially the concealer since you only use a little bit. i LOOVE my minerals. i was doing something for tv a while back and they put on some liquid mac foundation on me...i felt like i had icing all over my face! lol you really can not feel the minerals at all, it's like your skin can breath or something.

oh, and if you want a more dewey/shiney look, you just put on some of the "veils" or "glows" on top..super pretty.

    Thanks, ladies:-)

I have kind of a natural "shiny, glowy" sort of look. I think what I am looking for is more of a velvet finish.

I'll check out both types: the minerals (I have some bronzer that is that consistancy) and a cream to powder.

I don't like Bare Minerals or Studio Fix. Bare Minerals is just awful for oily skin and doesn't stay on for crap at work. Studio Fix can make you break out if you are prone to that. Makeup For Ever makes some awesome foundations. Go to Sephora, find a nice SA, explain what you are looking for and follow their suggestions.

And I've been very interested in the bare minerals movement...is it very expensive?

the starter kit is $60, and i had to trash my foundation because it lasted me over 2 years (it expired!) so yes, $60 for foundation for 2 years!!! YES! get it!

i don't use bare min because they "fluff" it with fillers and other stuff that can irritate sensitive skin.

i use smokymountainminerals.com, they are way less expensive and don't have the crap in them. shipping is free and fast too! (better yet, it's on sale right now for $10! woohoo! score!)

i use the light foundation in the winter and medium in the spring/summer. in early spring and fall, i mix the light and mediums to create an "in between" shade. this stuff lasts FOREVER. i JUST used up one pot, and i bought last spring!

the blushes are really pretty too.

Sounds like we have similiar skin.

I love Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation. Great staying power, looks natural and has a sheen like glow without being oily.

I used to use MAC studio fix for touch ups and it is too thick and becomes cakey.

I followed LatinaRose's advice ( from another thread ) and now I use MAC 's blott powder instead for touch ups, and it makes a world of difference!

^^I've been wanting to try the Armani b/c I've heard amaaaaazing things about it. I've been weary due to the price and the fact that I'm constantly trying new foundations. It is soooo hard to find one that is perfect, not only in color, but in appearance, staying powder, etc. If you really recommend it, I think I will splurge!

And yes, blot powder is the shit!! No shinies!

I use Everyday Minerals (from everydayminerals.com). They have four finishes: original glow (like the shiny mineral makeup you're probably used to), semi-matte, matte and intensive. They will send you three foundation samples along with a blush and concealer for the cost of shipping so you can see what it's like.

I use Double Wear too. It might be heavier than you're used to, but if you apply it with a damp makeup sponge, it'll go on lighter. And it lasts forever and leaves a very "polished" finish.

I also recommend Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, especially if you have clear skin. It leaves a natural, luminous and moisturizing finish, but it is also very "polished" and evens out everything very nicely. It's long-lasting, but not as hard-core as Double Wear...that shit stays on all day!

A dancer up in Darwin bought and uses Estee Lauder Maximum Cover and I was impressed! It cost her a pretty penny yet she only had to use a small amount to get that 'flawless' cover and it stayed on!

Once I'm finally finished with all my foundation I'm definately investing in some

I'm glad someone besides me thinks that of BM. I bought the starter kit and hated it. It always looked funny on my acne prone oily face and doesn't stay on for crap. I love MUFE Mat Velvet and their undereye concealer (not sure what its called)

However, lately I've been using a weird variety to get the perfect face. I'm going for the soft porcelain look thats nice, creamy and natural. I use Laura Mercier Secret Camoflage as my concealer. Its expensive ($28 ) but it has sooo much pigment and I barely use any (I have a lot of blemishes). It should last me at least a year if not much longer if it doesn't expire. I used Revlon's Colorstay concealer before it and bought it a few times a year, by the time I'd done that I could have had secret concealer. I use the LM Tinted Moisturizer to even out my skin tone on top of that. Its great because I hate the feeling of makeup. Unlike other tinted moisturizers it has some good coverage and serious staying power. Anything that shows through or looks blotchy/red gets a dash of Bobbi Brown foundation stick on top of that. I think this is the perfect consistency heavy foundation that doesn't looked too caked on.

I splurge on foundation like crazy but skimp on most other stuff. I'd rather have beautiful glowing skin than some hip eyeshadow. I do have a few LM standbys of Face Tint in blushing and shadow in whiskey
