I have some unpaid credit cards, bad rental history, late car payments on my credit. If I pay everything I owe is there any way I can get those things taken off my credit?

This isn't first hand info but my cousin went to a lawyer who specialized in that sort of thing, he just looked up in the yellow pages in local area for him (i.e. lawyers/debt)which was Springfield, MA for him. I believe he ended up paying a reduced fee on pending bills and straightend out his credit.
Well, I'm only 21 so I haven't established alot of credit yet. I think what I'm going to do is just pay everything off, then try to get some more things I can build my credit up with like another card or something. Then that should help my score, right?
^^^ A bank loan will be better for your credit score than another credit card. Pay everything off, and then take out a personal loan or an auto loan. Keep it open and make regular payments for at least one year, and then you can either pay it off or keep making regular timely payments on it. That's the best way to better your score.

I got some bad charge offs removed by repeatedly disputing them to all 3 credit agencies. They have 30 days to respond to your certified written dispute . If they dont reply back to you in writting in that time you can legally have them remove it (even if you really owe the bill). I basically sent the same letter every month to the ones that did respond until It fell between the cracks or was not followed up by a new or lazy employee. One took me 10 months but I got it off.

The only thing is you are the one that has to do all the follow up . It is a pain but an option.
So pretty much, as long as I don't have anything that I owe to people, if I pay off everybody, then my credit will be fine? What about bad rental history on my credit?
All negative credit stays for 7 years. The only way it would fall off is if 7 years is now or if you got a letter from the original creditor (not collection agency) stating that with a PIF balance, all negative reporting would be removed.
Other than that, your credit will not be great until all of those negatives falls off...which could be 7 years from date of payment (final action on the account). You are really better off visiting the credit boards and tapping their brains. Good luck!

This is true. I used to work in property management and know they dont hesitate tacking the bill to you if you owe them money. Like posted above pay it off , get written agreement it is satisfied (try to negotiate the balance down of couse). Most management companies for apartments pull credit, background, and then some . It is hard to get approved with bad rental. I've seen exceptions for credit issues but not so much on rental history.
