    Coconut oil

I used this a couple of weeks ago on my hair. Slept with it on, washed it off and my hair was soft and SUPER shiney. But I ran out of it, gotta buy more. Anyone know what's the best brand out there for the hair?

Also, anyone know what other benefits does coconut oil have for the hair? I heard it makes it grow faster & stronger. Is that true? Like food for the hair.

I use it on my skin and I eat it too - its very good for you but you need to get organic cold pressed virgin coconut oil.
My aunt introduced me to it years ago after she used it to heal a severe burn she had on her hand. She spilt a pan of hot oil all over her hand to the wrist and has no scarring from it at all from using the oil.
I also use it to remove eye make up.

Coconut oil is fantastic for the hair. Not sure what it can do for our skin.

But i read about it in a book, and it said the men who used to cut coconuts off the trees would often time get the oil all over their hair, and these men had shiny long hair.

Any Coconut oil that is pure. Health fod store. I kept mine in the fridge, it got ugly hard and white, but then heated it up. It's good stuff.

Have not used it in a while...

Interesting... I saw some at Henry's and I thought I remembered a thread about it on here... that it helps you lose weight if you eat it... but I think that could have been something else?

I'm putting it on my grocery list! Did it wash out easily? Did you wrap your hair up so it didn't get all over hte place?

That's interesting that you mentioned that Pam! Because this guy I know, uses this one jar of coconut oil paste from the 99 cent store. He said he has used it for 13 years bc someone suggested he take that to prevent his hair from falling. Because male baldness runs in his family. He claims that he hasn't gone bald because of it! LOL. Maybe he just got lucky? I don't know how true this is. He said it helped it grow out some more, and quicker.

I never get diarhea from it, either. I eat a tub of it a week--I use it on everything! It is very good for thyroid health, speeds up the metabolism, and helps your body burn fat. It also cannnot be stored by your body as fat like other fats can---your body uses it immediately for energy. The product needs to be unrefined, pure, virgin oil--if it has been refined in any way, the chemical composition changes and it is not good for you. It is also a solid at room temperature. I can't say enough good things about it.

How do you girls sleep with it in your hair without getting it all over the pillow? My hair's in an urgent state of repair after too much bleaching.

I use Softee brand coconut oil for when I pull my hair back (usually for when I wear falls)... I've never tried it as a leave-in-then-wash-out thing... I tend to use olive oil for that.

The guy who I was talking about here uses that brand. Comes in a white/blue jar. He says that saved his hair from balding. lol.

Wow... never new people ate it, it seems like so much saturated fat. Anywho, I use it on my skin and it has helped me clear up my keratosis pilaris (skin condition with little white bumps / red flushing of the skin). I LOVE it for that. Now I'm gonna try it to help with weight loss and damaged hair, too!

The only thing I DON'T like about it is that, when I use it, it wont wash 100% for almost a week, so I have to wear my hair pulled back the whole time. Ugh.
