I became a customer of Chase when they bought out the bank I had been using. Face it....all banks suck. My experience with Chase is that they don't suck any worse than any other bank.

Actually I have seen the books. Even with losses credit cards have; it still makes the most money per quarter than any other division of banking. The reason they are being so hard is they need to make even more to cover other losses.
A little known secret about credit card losses for banks .... They write those losses off at the end of the year in their taxes. So it is a win win for the banks.

I've had a checking and savings account with Chase for years and have had good luck with them. Back when I was broke I'd occasionally bounce a check and sometimes they would help me out and not charge me for it. And now I have a personal banker there who helps me with my retirement investments. He's always extremely helpful. And I like it that they have ATMs all over the place. That is nice when you need to grab some cash.

I've been with Chase for a very long time. No problems. I had my account go into the neg two times since I've had the account, and both times they took the over draft chrages off for me when asked.
Some banks charge more in penalties than others, but what it boils down to is manage your money. It' not their job to do it.
I do agree though, credit unions are the best for credit cards and such. Otherwise, I think Chase is just fine.

I have had no problems I think most banks live by the same standards - you will always find someone who has got fucked by one of them .
I've only been doing the basic deposit money/use debit card schtick at Chase and it has served me well so far.![]()
Both of my credit cards raised the rates on me when I bought my place. I tried to argue w Citibank but the fuckers wouldn't budge, so I closed the account. It was a Platinum w 7.99% fixed and $20k credit line, for years.
THEN...my Chase VISA did the same, but I had a balance. So I got an AMEX, but am keeping the Chase open just in case.
I banked at BankONE for years and was happy with their services. So when Chase swallowed them, I stayed. They have shitty rates for cash, so I used the Money Market account that my company has for savings. But I have direct debit for many of my bills at Chase, and am too lazy to re-set everything up again. They are perfectly fine as banks go, but they aren't going to negotiate in regards to overdraft fees and such. Its a large bank like any other.
They now have branches everywhere, which I like for withdrawing funds. BankONE had relatively few branches and I was always paying fees when I needed cash asap and couldn't find a branch nearby.
