I can't stand cigarette smoke full stop (don't get me started on cigars, yuck!) During busy nights, I have to seek refuge in the dressing room or else I'd just gag from the thick haze of smoke in the club. We've got a no-smoking rule in the dressing room on weekend nights but there are some illiterate, hare-brained dancers who can't read a simple sign and still continue to light up. It's bloody disrespectful.
Horray for anti-smoking laws which will be introduced in my state within a month!
See, we don't have a non smoking rule in the dressing room! So I'm basically stuck in the smoke all day while I'm at work! Isn't 2nd hand smoke worse than smoking yourself??

idk.. I've 'quit' a billion times, but when under stress, I always reach for cigs. Lately, when I find my emergency pack under the seat of my car, it makes me sick just sticking it my mouth, before I even light up. So I guess I'm weaning myself off of it, since it's disgusting me. Although, when I've been drinking, it's so easy for me to smoke and think nothing of it. And since I'm usually drinking at work, I guess I'm not as nauseated by it.. I need to quit for real![]()
On of the shoots I do regularly is shot in a moving van...usually takes about 4-6 hours. EVERYONE smokes on the van...3-4 other people. Ever since I quit..yes it does bug me. I'm trapped in a tiny space FULL of smoke(and you cant even open a window much of the time because the noise from the window would get on tape).
When I'm really stressed(like now) I feel the urge to smoke...but even the thought now causes my lungs to cramp...
G-d, I love California. I love these little reminders of how wonderful it is to live here.
I feel ya!
I quit about 7 years ago. I hate smoke. I know I will never smoke again. (And if I have to smoke for a role in a film? Guess I'll have to figure out a way to fake it/not inhale).
Thank God I live in CA. I couldn't handle working in a smoky bar. It would make me sick.
Make sure to take your Vitamin C, E and folic acid. And drink lots of water.
^^^ If you're acting, just ask for a fake ciggie. The prop guys always have them. It's those scented herbal cigs with no tobacco, and you don't have to inhale.
I love prop drugs, LOL... I was just on a show where people were smoking crack and the "crack" was a little tobacco covered by a piece of macadamia nut. They found out at the last minute that one of the actresses had a nut allergy, so she didn't get to smoke crack.![]()

Nothing worse than reformed smokersSorry guys, my dad is the same way. Can't STAND the smell....
I'm sure if/when I quit I will be the same way, but at the same time I feel like people should have the right to smoke ESPECIALLY outside <- There's a town in Indiana where you can't smoke outside. What kind of commi bullshit is that? (inside, I guess I can slightly understand some of the smoking bans).

NO..I totally think you should be able to smoke OUTSIDE!! Thats BS!! I know if I go to a bar there will be smoke. Period(here at least). If i dont want to deal with it..I wont go. I'm def for the ban in restaurants, stores, etc....but outdorrs and "party" atmospheres...sure.
Oh thank God!! Aren't those called "eXtacy" cigs? I think I know what kind of herbal cigs you are talking about. I have a film coming up where I'm going to have to play a teenager/20-something year old chain-smoker. It doesn't solve the problem of other actors smoking though. Guess I'll have to suck it up. (Pardon the pun.)
Poor girl could not smoke the crackadamia blend. Aw man, she missed out!![]()
Extasy is one brand, but there are cheaper ones and the prop guys usually get the cheapies. Occasionally I bum one because I like these:
I don't smoke, but about once or twice a year I buy a pack of these and have a couple. They're dirt cheap and have no tobacco whatsoever, and they're a movie-set staple so you shouldn't have to worry about it. And BTW, the other actors will most likely be smoking the fakies too (at least during shooting).
^^do they have nicotine? They might be good for when I'm craving the action of smoking(but still dont want the cant breath side effects)
Where do you get them? Smoke shops?
Nope, no tobacco and no nicotine. They're not totally harmless; they produce carbon monoxide and it's still smoke. But they're marketed mainly for helping people quit because you get the sensation of smoking without the tobacco, nicotine, tar, etc. And yeah, you get them at smoke shops... about $3-5 for a pack of 20.
^^ thanks I'll check them out.
