Never wore Makeup & Audition on Thurs

1st HELLO SW!!! OK, so I gt my 1st audition on Thurs, and when I talked to the guy he told me to dress up as if im going out, full hair and maekup. prob is, i have never worn makeup in my life. i may do a little lip gloss, but nothing else. i always get compliments on my look, and i prob shouldnt try to do some extravagant thing before the audition, but i wonder if that'll be a problem...should i try to do some sort of eyeshadow thing...or i guess concealer (i have dark spots where I used to have pimples), and then of course i have a few red pimples on my face.

    i dunno...what do yall think?

on another note, i was off my birth control pills last month, and omg, my face completely exploded! I had pimples everywhere! but about two weeks ago, once I got back on them, my face slowly calmed down...anybody else experienced that? I guess i will never have any kids cuz when i tell you my face exploded...HUNNY, i looked worse than the people on proactiv commercials =)

I would head to a Mac store and ask them what to do...

You do need makeup in the club... it makes a huge difference..

Being and looking extravagent is what sets you apart. Like Cally, you should try to go to a MAC store and get a makeover, be forewarned you will more than likely have to spend at least $40 on products.

If that is not in your budget, I suggest:

Covergirl liquid foundation: Go w/ a friend and find the match for you. Take a little from the top and stroke it across your jawline. If it's like a perfect match you have your color..if it's off (even by a little bit) DO NOT buy!

Loose Powder: Since you are a WOC (woman of color) I'll tell you about a product I've been using that I LOVE! I've just started using Black Radiance loose finishing powder. You put that on over the foundation.

Blush: Black women (unless you're lightskin) do not blush. lol For your skintone I suggest you buy a plum colored blush. Suck in your cheeks like a fish and apply UNDER the "fish line"

Lips: I'm pretty plain here. I do the lipgloss thing too. Sometimes I'll do lipliner and clear gloss.

Eyes: I like Maybelline XXL mascara. Apply the primer (white) first and then the mascara DO NOT let it dry first. Buy a black eyeliner pencil to line your eyes. Buy a gold eyeshadow. A WOC just cannot go wrong with gold eyeshadow, NEVER lol..

That's a pretty simple look. You'll be polished and put together.

Read some of LatinaRose's instructional posts in body business about applying eyeshadow and how she does her stripper makeup, she's like the makeup guru around here. And definetly hit up the mac store, I dont' care how naturally beautiful anyone is, under all those dark lights you will look plain and washed out without any dazzle. Good luck!

Yeah, I agree that makeup makes all the difference.

Since you don't normally wear makeup, I would definetely suggest Bare Minerals foundation, it's a really lightweight powder and it covers WONDERFULLY but I don't even feel like I'm wearing makeup. I think you can get it at Sephora, but there are also some other companies that have come out with similar products, I think I saw another brand (forget what brand) at Wal-Mart you could try.

Also, definetely wear mascara! Mascara makes a HUGE difference as well. Good luck to you and once you get more comfortable with makeup like Natalie said, I'd definetely check out Latina Rose's makeup tutorials

I appreciate your advice ladies! I would never have thought it made that much of a difference...I'm glad I asked! Now, I get a couple days to practice...I pray I don't end up looking like a clown =) I did look @ some of those tutorial pages...and was a little confused I'm ashamed to say =) Danggit! I wish I had been a girly girl or something, then this wouldn't be an issue! The makeup part is the only thing I'm nervous about! I not too worried about dancing or my outfit...just the makeup part =)

So is MAC the holy grail of makeup? Any other things I should be considering as a WOC?

--->Oh, and just to point out the obvious discrepancy, I joind SW a while ago when I thought about stripping, but then I got a job, and didn't really have the time. But then...I bought a car. So, here I am, getting ready to dive headfirst into it! I guess I wasn't thinking that ppl are prob like "This chick been stripping for years and she dont know how to put on makeup?!?!?!?" =) <---

MAC is great makeup because of the color payoff. i agree to check out latinarose's tutorials... just use what you can afford now though. if you don't have the $50 minimum that MAC prefers, don't go in there and embarrass yourself. just get what you can afford. read up on those tutorials though!

i would say, invest in a mineral foundation ($10 for a brand like jane, milani at target) because it's got good coverage, and check out dollar tree. they get discontinued makeup for $1 each.

but if you can afford the mac, GET THE MAC. You will not regret it.

Yeah, so I did it. I was THE worst! But I still got hired. I though I was coming risque in a short skirt and corset and fishnets...hell no! There were five other females that made me feel like a grandma w/pearls on! I was doing the same moves...they had us watching the girls for about 2 hours, then we did the show. And all while I'm watching, I'm like, yeah ima do that onstage. Please! When it was time to go, I was shaking I was so nervous! Im like, ok, give eye contact, look seductive, blah blah blah. I couldn't even look at the guys. I was so scared. It was all a blur! Even though I know in the long run it prolly doesn't mean anything now, but I feel kinda ugly/weird. Those girls just look so great and are so good! I know rome wasnt built in a day, but damn! I suck!! This girl was telling me (the one who got second) to watch the girls who make money...let me go thread searching now so i can get some helpful info on that. Does anyone know where the link is to "How to start as a newbie and become a stripper overnight!"? =)~

Oh honey please, you couldn't be THAT bad if they hired you, remember that! So how did you do your hair/makeup? What music did you dance to? And which club did you get hired at?

Yeah, that's what my boyfriend was saying. He also volunteered himself in case i want to practice. He's always the one to help =) I got hired @ the Admiral. The makeup didn't turn out bad! I had been practicing everday since I got the stuff, so I knew what it was going to look like. I took your suggestion with the gold eyeshadow, and I bought a 4 in 1 type of thing so I had all the colors I was supposed to use. I looked at the latinarose tut so I could figure out how to put the stuff on. Still can't get that eyelining thing though, but it turned out cute. My hair, I had no idea what to do with it. I have natural hair, but I pressed it out and put in rollers. It came out cute @ home, but by the time I went on stage (2 hours after I got there) the curls fell. I think I may have to invest in some sort of wig/weave. My hair is a decent length when pressed, but it's thin, so it doesn't look nice down. And I guess guys are into that hair whipping thing, so I'll have to do some research on that. Um, oh! I danced to Prince, Get Off =) I wasn't sure what kinda music they played (turns out they dont play rap), and I figured all races can jam to Prince, so it was a safe bet. It was only a minute and a half that I was up there.

Anywho, I'm getting excited though. I'm still nervous as hell, cuz I start sunday and dont have any clothes, so i guess I should go pick up some sort of outfit this wknd. But I'm focused man! Im making a list of all the things i want to do with my money so i dont get sidetracked once it starts coming in. I'm too geeked right now =)

Hell yea! I dance to Prince too! Love him My hair is natural too. I have a wig cap, and I wear wigs at work. Get plenty of bobbie pins too to secure it.

Hey sweetie, just saw this thread. If you have any questions on makeup, feel free to pm me. And if your hair is thin, you can get a lot of body using a hair waver like this:

I bought mine at Target, but I don't recommend using it on hair that is shorter than shoulder length.
