Default Are your eyebrows lighter or darker than your hair colour?

I was just wondering, should eyebrows be lighter or darker than hair colour. I know its preference but what in your opinion looks best? What do you have, lighter darker or matching? And if your browns are lighter or darker, how many shades is it by?

My reason for asking...I am naturally jet black haired - I mean blacker than a permanent non-blue tinted totally only ever gonna be black marker pen!

    As are my brows!

I like my black hair colour but theres no dimension to it. So have tried numerous things and the only hair colours that go with my skin tone are caramel ish colours which are cool. Means total all over highlights. However it leaves my brows...yup you guessed it...black.

Iv seen this darker browed look many a time before and it look great - but I had a fw pics back from a weekend out and am looking at my brows like - wow theyr like totally dark and the only attraction of the picture!

Il post some pics of what I mean in a sec but just curious on your thoughts as the posts on here by you sw ladies have helped me so much already!!

I've been thinking about bleaching my eyebrows to like a warm chestnut brown to bring out my features more. My eyebrows are the exact same color as the hair on my head, very dark brown, almost black.

THIS is what I was aiming for. I think the colouring is beautiful with lots of blonde highlights and slightly brown eyebrows.

didnt realise mine looked so dark....

im the one with the lighter hair and the darker brows

Does that look really stupid silly? How easy is it to lighten brows or should I just start lacing slightly browner low lights through my hair as well as blonde - instead of two types of blonde - just one type and one brown too?

Argh im going crazy - i need to sort my image out - and pronto!

I prefer fuller, darker eyebrows. It's a much more glamorous look. Just think of all the most famous actresses throughout time. I do think that lighter brows softens features a tiny bit, and can make you look a bit sweeter, but sexpot is what I like.

In the picture, it looks like you color your brows w/ pencil, do you?

Also, yes I would suggest you add a little color, and more highlights. I like big lush waves of hair..

yeah i pencil a little in due to thefact that some women a few weeks ago really botched them up so deadly seriously they were tiny and i prefer slightly fuller ones.

With the hair, you think brown and blonde lights or two types of blonde. I love the lady in that pic above me...i think i wanna do unmentionable things to her - might take the pic along to hairdress consult and see what they say

I think you're penciling (sp) to heavy. I knew you penciled in as soon as I looked at the pic. Eyeshadow or brow powder are much more softer than pencils. Also, fill in your brows with a color a few shades lighter than your eyebrow color.

What she said. Just get some cheap eyebrow shades from the drugstore to see what looks best before you go all out with dye or anything. If you do dye make sure you go to a salon so you don't damage your eyes(sorry if this sounds like duh advice but a friends of mine did just that!)

I think il give powder a go. Im not from the states - I bought some eyebrowz stencils from the US and got them - love the shapes. Will go buy some powder shortly and an application brush. Think you're right - think once I get that sorted i'll know exactly how I want my hair. Thank you!!

and a couple of shades lighter...so lets say a mid brown?

    thanks x

i dont think id be able to 'dye' my brows per say - i think it would be more of a bleaching/lightening situation - as they seriously are blacker than you could ever imagine!

    I like this look.

I think if you're going to get them bleached, have it done professionally.

    thank you so very much!

hopefully will get this all sorted and be over the moon with eyebrows, get a hot new hair colour and style, and then spend loads on that beach bunny swimwear that is amazingly hot.

why are eyebrows so freakin fiddly?!?!?!

I think your brows look hot as is... maybe use a lighter pencil than the one you're using, but they don't need to be bleached or dyed. I think your hair is gorgeous too. You're very sexy, actually. I don't see anything that needs to be changed.

    B.strp, you look GORJ!
Anyway, at least you don't have thinning, bare-ish brows like me. Also, to light for my hair color, looks weird. I've tried a NYC brand brow kit, w/wax & powder, but too dark, hard to apply just right.
I also bought a brow set from Benefit, what a disappointment for the price. In it is a thick light pink pencil for highlighting, (I like that) but also a mascara-like color for brows that is soupy consistency & dries weird, doesn't give much color.

My eyebrows are lighter, but I think it's due to the fact that there's not much hair, like they're thin (not in shape, but hair growth). I do use a powder on them to fill in some color, and I think it looks fine.
Personally, I think if your eyebrows are shaped well, and look good, you can get away with no make-up..daytime anyways. I think brows really pull any look together.

P.S. I really think your brows look good, btw. I wouldn't worry about changing them, just keep up waxes/plucking to keep 'em clean!

I think you look hot in that pic. I like the look of darker brows with lighter hair. My hair is naturally light brown/dark blonde and I have black brows. I think it helps draw attention to the eyes.

Mine are a teeeny bit lighter, but they look a lil moreso because they're thin. Yay for eyebrow pencils...

My hair is naturally medium brown and my eyebrows look black, but are a very dark brown.

I think it looks cool and dramatic this way.

My brows are a light brown, slightly darker than my highlights but lighter than my natural hair. I can post a pic if you like. I don't like very dark eyebrows at all, I think it looks too harsh. I mean, you want people to see your face, not your brows first.

I use an angle brush and shadow from MAC on my brows. I think pencil looks rather harsh too.

If I were you, I'd bleach them a bit to lighten them and fill them in with a powder.
