Iron? I've got a report on Hemachromatosis I'm doing, and I just read this last question on the second friggin sheet which I couldn't find all weekend... and the report is due this afternoon. I'm going to be searching the net for a while, but I figure collective input is quick and has always proved helpfull.
So, the exact question is:
"Find out what difference it makes from a nutritional standpoint (if any) whether iron exists in the body as ferric or ferrous ion."
Anyone have and idea? I mostly wrote about hemachromatosis symptoms and the strangeness of it effecting a lot of eastern european jews and a lot of africans and the symptoms, and treatment... but nothing I read discussed the type of iron, I guess it's supposed to be common knowledge?
