Default Does This Really Bother Entertainers?

Tonight, not more than 15 minutes ago, I had a couple of customers in the club that were clapping loudly and cheering for every girl that went on stage. Customers with life, compared to the typical golf clap men that come around every single day of our lives. They never said anything mean, they just clapped and cheered enthusiastically, without a hint of sarcasm. Two guys here to have some fun.

Suddenly, one of the dancers gets up during her part of the rotation and tells them "Shoosh, this is a gentleman's club." First off, I thought she was kidding, so I got on the mic and said "It's a party club, too." Giggles and cheers.

Next thing I know, the dancer gets off stage after her set, and confronts me in the DJ booth. "Why did you undermine me?" (at this point, I'm angry, so I have to paraphrase what she said) Those guys are loud and obnoxious (they were loud, but nothing obnoxious was said). They should sit quietly (no, they shouldn't, I ask the crowd to 'make noise' for every dancer). They weren't tipping (well, prior to her little outburst, they were).

Rant over, but does it really bother entertainers when the crowd actually does cheer? Was I really out of line for chewing her out?

P.S.- I honestly hope I posted on the right forum... (Crow don't kill me if I didn't).

The only time I HATE customers clapping for me is when they'd rather clap than tip the stage. Clapping DOES NOT pay my bills.

I love it when the crowd gets into my shows!! The more noise the better... fuck i've stood in the middle of the stage and screamed 'make some fucking noise!!' (thanks for that Alena lol).

I get seriously bummed out when everyone is all quiet n shit... I thrive off the energy in the bar.

The more the crowd cheers and claps the better performance I give. It gives me an adrenalin rush. It sounds like the dancer from the OP is not much of a performer if she doesnt like cheering or clapping.

Oh hell yeah! I LOVE when I have a cheering section....theres nothing worse then busting your ass trying to entertain to an audience of glazed eyed, bored looking guys. What a downer.

I loved it too. When you're forced to do 15 minute stage routines, it can get kinda depressing when they're not interacting.

I definitely get into the show more when the crowd is riled up. However, if they're not showing gusto with their tipping, it can wear off quickly.
People equate sexy with promiscuous. They think that because I'm shaped this way, I must be scandalous - like running around and bringing men into my hotel room. But it's just the opposite.

It doesn't bother me at all. I love it and it makes me feel appreciated, with money too, of course!

It doesn't bother me at all as long as they are tipping. Although I have seen some guys be completely obnoxious about it (think drunk college boys) and that is annoying.

Hell yeah I love clapping. In my mind I'm thinking "ooh they clapped for that well then they are sooo gonna clap for this next move...I wonder what I can do that will make them clap more??" It gets me going and I give a way better show. I mean shit who doesn't like encouragment. I hate doing a badass new pole trick that i worked hard on and hearing crickets chirp...

When I am NOT being paid for my stage show (as in the club isn't paying me to do the show) then I am all with CK on this one. As much as I love a good noisy audience as it shows me that they are alive and here and enjoy-ing my show... follow that noise up with tips please or else I get "over" the whole noise thing very quickly.

If I'm being paid for my show like Cally gets paid to do hers .. and tips aren't a concern because I'm getting paid to do the show.. then I'm all with Cally in that if I do a show and I'm not getting ANY reaction.. I kinda get lost up there because I don't have any feedback from the audience to tell me what is and is not working (or what they do and don't like so I can do more of what they do like and less of what they don't like)...

At my club people do NOT clap and that shit seriously bothers me. I dont know why but it does. However, who's going to start clapping if everyone else is sitting there on their fucking hands.

Im with cinn and rather have tips however, appreciation is what it is. I'll take what I can get sense it amps me up to do better or more . Otherwise Im lazy which typically I am.

I know girls at work though that loath it and get all pissy when guys clap. I dont get that shit at all.

Hmm, well the guys were tipping. So girl in question needs to disinsert the stick from her ass and chillax. What about the girl they were clapping for? Is it possible that girl A had issues with this particular dancer and was trying to douse her fire?

as long as they're tipping too, yea clapping really pumps up the energy of the club. I was a dancer who really put effort into my stage set so I loved clapping and cheering.

I'm 100% with y'all! Bring on the cheers (and money)! Seriously, what's up with that dancer? "This is a gentlemens' club," . . . sooooo, what? Sit quietly and behave? It's not a flippin' LIBRARY!

I hate preformimg to a dead club/crowd. I need the hootin' & hollerin' of the crowd to really get me in the preforming mood. Like Cally, I feed off their energy. If I know the guys are having a good time, then I am too, and in my club, if they're making noise for ya, the they're gonna tip ya too!

They guys were clapping for her when she went on stage.

I understand the tipping thing, and like I said, the guys were tipping before she had her little attack of attitude. As a result of actions, no one tipped her that set. She killed the crowed with what she said, and that's why I got so pissed. I got the crowd back, but I basically had to buy those 2 guys a drink to keep them from getting peeved. I don't like losing good customers.

Sounds like she's an uptight biotch. Even if they were being slightly obnoxious, they were doing so in a positive way, keeping the clubs energy up and drawing attention to the stage.

Clapping does not bother me. Hootin' and hollerin' sometimes makes me cringe, but it just kinda embarrasses me, I would never get pissed about it.

I don't mind it if the guys are tipping. But if they aren't, it irritates me. I work off stage tips only, and the clapping doesn't pay my bills. *shrug*
