I've worked at a couple of dives that were relatively clean but their filthy parts affected me physically. Both of them in the penisula of the SF Bay Area.
One was The Hanky Panky in Redwood City. The Mexican owner would always cook his early dinner in the club. They had kitchen but didn't sell food. They had no air conditioning and that Mexican food would make the whole club smell for hours
Also, I worked there during the summer and being by a body of water made it humid. Again NO AIR CONDITIONER!! And because it was by a big body of water it was a breeding place for misquitoes. I was bit everywhere. Even my face, under my clothes. I had to wear insect repellant head to toe and take extra B complex (makes your blood bitter so you don't get bit as much). Our owner liked to "mind fuck" the girls and fire them every once in a while. for the smallest thing. They always got their job back. They just had to ask. Finally, (it took a while. At first he was so nice to me) it was my turn. Fine I was fired. I was drunk and angry and spoke my mind and stormed off. Damn! I left all my stuff there and had to go back the next day

There was no way I was going to ask for my job back.
The other one was Club Ante in San Mateo. This was a good money club w/ good management. It was right before I moved here and it was storming up there a lot that winter. Our club was underground and we got some nasty ceiling leaks in the club. It smelled so bad because of the mold and I ended up getting mold poisoning for around a month. It was until I moved here to LA that it cleared up.
In Cabo San Lucas, I worked in a club in which a cockroach jumped out of my locker the first time I went to use it, bu that was the only time. Other than that, it was a decent club.
