    Default French Toast

    You know,

Gotta say... I make a damn good post-strippering-toolingaroundacity-french toast.

I didn't look up nothing, just had this epif...epiph....revelation this morning that I had the ingredients for it.

The cinnamon was a sweet add, but the powdered sugar was bliss...

The tortilla chips, not so much... Turns out there really IS only a 101 things you can do with tortilla.

But they cooked well and though a little crunchy (I like it...it puts hair on mah chest) These are above and beyond the call of duty in the realm of self pleasure.

    Just....thought I'd share that...

oooh, i LOVE french toast. i put lots of sugar in the batter. if find that using half and half is good too.

if i'm feeling really nice towards my hubby, i'll sprinkle the newly dipped bread in powdered sugar...it does make it a little crunchy...yummy

Did you actually make the French Toast from tortilla chips?

I'm only asking because I've made it from pork rinds myself (don't ask) and it was actually ok.

Either way, keep going with the cooking attempts/threads. This is way better than watching The Food Network.

Somebody make me some french toast too, dammit!! It's my favorite breakfast item. I had some in LA last week and it just didn't do it for me, so I need some good ones to make up for it.

Challah makes the best french toast. (Especially handmade-in-small-little-batches-every-Friday-by-hardkandee's-little-hands challah.)

I make the best French toast I've ever had. Sorry, not to brag, but I do.

Get the thick-cut Texas toast bread (not toast, just a loaf of very thick-cut bread, or slice your own from French bread or challah). For the batter, whip up an egg, a splash of milk, a dollop of honey, and a bit of pumpkin pie spice. Dip the toast in the batter and fry it in real butter just until the edges are brown and crispy. Transfer to a plate, sprinkle with a little powdered sugar, a dash more pumpkin pie spice, and slice a fresh banana over it. Pure heaven.

You WERE? I could have sworn you'd used a cookbook that I'm pretty sure you own. Page 66: 'Coated Tortilla French Toast'* from "101 Things To Do With a Tortilla".

    6 eggs
    2 cups milk
    1 tsp cinnamon
    2 tsp vanilla
    6 medium gordita-style flour tortillas
copious amounts of powdered sugar (my own recommendation)

Mix all ingredients together except torillas (duh). Dip each tortilla in egg mixture and place in nonstick frying pan with a little butter over medium heat. Cook about 30 seconds and turn over. Spread 2 tablespoons of egg mixture on top, turn over again. Keep repeating this process until a layer of egg mixture coats each side of the tortilla thoroughly and is golden brown and crispy.

Serve as you would traditional French Toast, with aforementioned sugar and syrup as desired. I also think some hot pepper jelly might be kickin' on it (and thematically appropriate), either jalapeno or cherry-habanero. Would go FABULOUSLY alongside some migas, too.

*Why they didn't name this one "French TOSTADAS" is beyond me, but I wasn't in the consultation loop for this one.

French toast made with cinnamon-raisin bread is amazing. I make kickin' toast, too. But then all the kids want some. So I end up making an entire loaf's worth and having to keep it warm in the oven and it just becomes this huge annoying ordeal. Now I want french toast. Great. THANKS MAST.

^ I love French toast like that! I worked at a little bakery for about 4 months, and we made this amazing cinnamon raisin bread. Working with the dough was so much fun... it was gooey and warm and lusciously wonderful. And we'd have a huge bucket full of it. Gallons and gallons of warm cinnamon dough.

But yeah, the French toast from that bread is so wonderful. Every Stipperweb girl (or guy) ever should try it!

You know Luke, the view of "Calvary" is nice from up here.

    6 eggs
    2 cups milk
    1 tsp cinnamon
    2 tsp vanilla
    6 medium gordita-style flour tortillas
copious amounts of powdered sugar (my own recommendation)
Oh ahaha When I said Tortilla... I was thinking of the chips! hahahah

ANYWAYS Yea, minus the eggs, and add egg beaters then minus tortillas for bread and we got a morning date.

    Well it was just me.

BUT I PUT OUT GOD DAMMIT. SO I DESERVE BREAKFAST FOR ME.

I also think some hot pepper jelly might be kickin' on it (and thematically appropriate), either jalapeno or cherry-habanero. Would go FABULOUSLY alongside some migas, too.

Have you never had pepper jelly? I get it direct from Tucson AZ. Mmm! Though I think it might be an unpleasant start for your day. Unless you're starting to really like that cayenne burn from thre Master Cleanse
