Default Want to go Lighter w/out a dye job.

I have naturally brown hair and really want a sunkissed look for the summer. I usually dye my hair red and when it fades it turns into this amazing coppery- strawberry- blondish- brown color...but it's so messy getting it done!! Do any of you gals know a new lightening product that is out for hair that isn't so messy as dying and doesn't fry hair? I used to use Lemon Sun-in a looonnnggg time ago...is there something better I can buy? I like the natural hair looks...no salon highlights, etc, since 80 percent of the girls at my club have highlights.

I did this a few weeks ago & it did lighten out my hair but it also made it brittle .....The low-cost of the lemon juice is offset by the time & need to purchase deep conditioner. Just FYI.

You could try a tea rinse...I've found the tea lightens hair subtley, and especially places up red tones.

Mix tea with 2 pints of hot water, and let it cool. I usually add 2 or 3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Wash and condition. then pour the tea over your hair,t hen sit out in the sun for an hour or so.

It always makes my hair nice and silky too

Is this black tea ? ("Orange Pekoe cut" Most name brands are the same kind)

I heard blondes can use chamomile tea to lighten up their hair...

& Sometimes the lightening effect is the stripping out of mineral deposits from heavy/unfiltered water....

I've used chamomile (I have dark brown hair)

But I've also used stuff like Lipton and Tetley

Honey mixed with conditioner is supposed to lighten hair. It contains a very weak peroxide.

Cranberry juice combined with sun exposure can subtly lighten dark hair and bring out it's reddish tones. From there you can lighten it further with lemon juice.
