    Default Paris Hilton petition.

    Just forwarding

Her myspace promotes a petition to Californian Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, asking him for a pardon.

I suggest an alternative; that we ask him to ignore that petition.

    Please tell everyone you know.

Wow if she were to use her status to receive a pardon, I would lose all faith in the justice system.

    WORD.

I don't dislike her or love her.. I'm really much more ambivalous, although I'm entertained by the lives of all celebrities (Perez Hilton junkie!). But seriously, this is pushing it for me.. wtf is wrong with this world?!

It seems harsh to send someone to jail for driving without a licence. Does mandatory sentencing apply or something?

No, but this wasn't her first offense. She was placed on probation for a previous reckless driving charge for intoxicated driving. This time, she was stopped while driving on a suspended license, a violation of the terms of her probation. Plus she hadn't enrolled in a mandatory alcohol education program by the deadline, also a violation of probation. Basically, she was giving the court a big middle finger to her previous sentence, which judges usually don't take kindly to.

Sorry. Wrong thread. I thought this was a petition to have her transferred to the SHU at Pelican Bay. My mistake...or wishful thinking.
Idealism is fine, but as it approaches reality, the costs become prohibitive.

I think notoriety is a better term in her case.

She's going to jail for violating probation...she was put on probation for driving w/out a license, and then she did it again.

She should be put in jail just for being stupid alone, honestly.

    I signed it too.

I have not heard any comments from Paris taking responsibility for her actions. I have not heard any comments from her indicating remorse. A short jail stay may be the thing to get her thinking about someone besides herself.
