You love it!

Damn...do they really look that bad? What kind did u get? I LOVE my fake ones...I think they're called LUV MY NAILS or something. The only way I can take mine off is if they sit for a few days and the glue starts to get old. They either just fall off themselves or I pick them off. Have never tried to take fresh nails off. You might have to wait a day or 2 until this happens....sorry...![]()
Please don't pick them off you'll ruin your nails! Trim them first and then soak them in acetone-based nail polish remover, they'll soften up and you can gently scrape them off with a manicure stick...
I had a salon do this once...soak cotton balls in acetone. Place a cotton ball on each finger tip and then wrap the tip in foil and let it sit. I think it's a little less abusive to the skin than soaking the whole finger tip in the acetone....you just get the acetone where it needs to be.
You can buy artificial nail remover also.
But either way, soack the nail, then file it a bit, then soak...the filing helps get it down faster. Dont pick them off. You'll damage your real nail.

Oh babe those home kits are horrible. Don't do it when u can get a full set at some salons for $35!
Yep as boxingdoc said acetone soak. They way they do this at the salon i go to is:
- put acetone in a bowl
- place fingers in
- cover with towel
- if you have a desk lamp put it over the top to provide some heat as this will speed the process
- keep checking them and filing the acrylic off as it dissolves
I hate soaking my nails off....it's take forever!!
I wish there was a faster way.
wow that was horrid and never again will i do that!!!! i soaked and soaked and soaked and soaked for what felt like forever but they are off!!!!
YAY Thanks girls.
When you do get them done proffesionaly (sp?) How long do they last and how long dose it take?
You love it!
Acrylic usually takes about 45min-1 hour. They need filled every 1 1/2 -2 weeks.
Cost is generally 25-40 dollars, depending on what you get .I get pink and white acrylics, and they are a bit more expensive, but look great. Its a permenant french manicure.
Ugh I hate acrylics!!!
Gel nails are much better for your real nail(both are damaging but acrylics are even more damaging)
I get a gel nail set with white tips and airbrush design for $60... Depending how fast your nails grow they last awhile. I just went a month and a bit before getting a gel fill done, a fill costs about $30. I am in Canada though and its a bit pricier from what i've been told.
But yea gel lasts much longer and are way less damaging to your nails.
^^ true...I've never had gels before because apparently, they are not as strong as acrylics, and because my real nails are soo short, the gels wouldnt last for me.
My natural nail is about half of my nail bed...I bite them pretty much to the cuticle. I need my acrylics filled every 4-5 days!!
Eep.. damn nail biters
Keep the acrylics long enough to get your nail back lol then get gels. Im a nail biter but not that bad.. and my natural nails are super soft so I have to keep fakes on. My gel nails are strong, they hold up to me working with horses and pole dancing 6 days a week... and im an aggressive pole dancer..

I have been getting acrylics for about 10 years. It takes about an hour to get a full set done. You can get the white tips they look good. The place I go charges $55 for a full set but there are cheaper places. To get the refils done which u will need about once a fortnight its cheaper ($30 at the place I go to).
Huh, am I the only one who loves the DIY fake nails? I HATE having nails of any appreciable length unless I absolutely have to, so I glue the fake ones on at the last minute before I hit the floor, and pry them off in the dressing room as soon as the night ends. Really. I never use acetone; I just yank. It hurts, but I've never sustained any damage. But then, I also feel very little pain in my hands from years of cooking and getting burnt... this might have something to do with it.
Sometimes I'll leave my nails on for 2 days if I work 2 nights in a row and don't have much to do on the day in between. But if I have to clean, or want to work in the garden, or bake or something, I cannot stand to have nails on. It has something to do with my germophobia... I can't stop thinking about all the bacteria that gets trapped under nails, real ones or fake ones... I want my nails short unless there's a lot of $$$ at stake.
