Default first shift - decent overall, bad $$, questions

so i finally got a day free from my other job and went to do my first shift. i picked day shift because i am still pretty wobbly on my heels, don't really know quite how to lapdance yet, and i wanted to learn at a slower pace.

well, i definitely was in a good mood, felt sexy and i was excited about finally getting started since i've been wanting to for a while. however, on an 8 hour shift, i ended up only making 26 dollars after tipout (10 to DJ).

it was REALLY slow. maybe it was the weather since it was kind of ominous outside, but there were two points in the afternoon where there was NOBODY at all in the house. i only gave one lapdance and the rest was all stage tips. i tried really hard at being cutesy and to hustle, but i definitely dont know what i'm doing yet. i found it a little awkward to lead into asking for a dance, but hey, at least i asked everyone! i did sit with a few customers too long but there was NO one else to bother and i was hoping maybe the constant sexycute infusion would win them over. alas, it seems no cover charge and free alcohol brings in deadbeats.

however my first lapdance was a dream. a very southern-suburban couple came in shortly after i arrived on the floor, well groomed and attractive. they spent a song telling me how lovely i was and chatting about their daughter. they asked me if i was new, said yes, and they said JACKPOT! danced for the woman (who was very pretty and so sweet) and the man got one simultaneously from another girl. i did a pretty terrible job i think, i was so nervous and didnt know how much she wanted to be touched. i made lots of eye contact though and eventually got to caressing her arms and hair while i danced. before i knew it the song was over and i sat down so they could tell me how pretty i was and then i was called to the stage. the DJ played me an AMAZING first set and i got tipped 2 more dollars by the wife.

also i just had a good time being up on stage dancing. it was kind of liberating and i got a lot of whistles and applause even though i didnt do much but swivel and shake it! i think i will shift to night as soon as i can - i was really wobbly during the last sets from discomfort in my feet, but it was really unbearably slow, and i'm a little sad i only sold one dance.

    anyways, my questions:
    1) "i want to see your stage show first" - i figured this was equivalent to a test drive but NOBODY followed up or even tipped me on stage. common or fluke?
    2) i had a hard time executing some of my normal dance moves. they're very snakey and i usually rock around on my flat feet. is almost all kinds of dancing possible in these things? is it just balance? i don't have a ton!
    3) i found it really hard to give a lapdance in those armchairs. there werent a lot of dances for me to observe and the ones i did see.. i dont want to imitate those. i felt like i was gonna topple over trying to keep one foot on the floor! (also i dont remember what the girls did in all the lapdances i've bought because i get distracted!! )
    4) i wore a pair of checkerboard panties in a bikini cut and was approached by a dancer who relayed to me, "you know, they make thongs for dancers. you don't have to wear panties. everyone is asking me why you're wearing them." she gave me a coupon for a free thong (lol) but i really didnt see what was so wrong with them. i understand everyone wants to look at ass but do we all have to be the same? i got a lot of compliments on my lovely posterior.

also i would love some constructive criticism if you can glean any from the sheer context of my rambly post. i'm hoping a lot of things will become clearer to me in time. i'd just like to embarass myself as little as possible along the way!

wtf? free booze, tits and ass?! that is just I cant imagine, if there's no cover there should be a drink minimum... I mean really now! I'm insulted.

I know so many people who loooove new strippers. I think because girls just starting out haven't found their power to control quite yet... they're cute like a baby goose... who hopefully will become a swan! if that makes any sense...

    anyways, my questions:
    1) "i want to see your stage show first" - i figured this was equivalent to a test drive but NOBODY followed up or even tipped me on stage. common or fluke?
I would respond with "Too bad, I can't very well touch you from the stage" or "You wouldn't rather a more private show?"

    2) i had a hard time executing some of my normal dance moves. they're very snakey and i usually rock around on my flat feet. is almost all kinds of dancing possible in these things? is it just balance? i don't have a ton!
Practice practice practice!! Wear your shoes aroound your house... do chores in them, they will become an extention of you in no time.

    3) i found it really hard to give a lapdance in those armchairs. there werent a lot of dances for me to observe and the ones i did see.. i dont want to imitate those. i felt like i was gonna topple over trying to keep one foot on the floor! DC is no contact, i cant really help, but look around SW for lapdance advice!! and youtube and other video sites!!

There is a difference between panties and like hot shorts or stripper thongs ... panties are what your wive wears... what strippers wear is what your wife (or the neighbors wife) wears in a fantasy... you don't want to look like the Mrs!! It isn't that your panties aren't cute or flattering or sexy... it's that they're what girls normally wear.

also i would love some constructive criticism if you can glean any from the sheer context of my rambly post. i'm hoping a lot of things will become clearer to me in time. i'd just like to embarass myself as little as possible along the way!
I would try out another day shift and go in as a custy on a night shift... see what the other girls are doing, how they handle doing a LD with the chairs... See what their wearing, how they're moving. Try and see who can walk gracefully in heels and who cant and try and figure out why, then practice at home!! give lapdances to your friends and ask them to give you suggestions.

roulette, thank you for responding so sweetly to my entire post. after reading all your responses and reading SW today has made me aware i did so many things wrong yesterday and i'm determined to fix them.

however even though i was cheerful yesterday, today i feel really down. i think i put up with a lot of junk yesterday that i should have known not to. mostly just wasting my time with idiots. guys who wanted to "inspect" me, guys who would just grab at my legs and arms and back, guys who wouldnt look me in the eye, guys who would endlessly prattle on about junk, etc. basically every person i approached was a deadbeat except for the couple. at least when someone offered me $15 for a dance, i said no. later i saw him getting a really skeezy dance (if you could call it that!). also i got one guy who, when tipping me for my dollar dance (which it took him a MILLION years to do, i should have stopped dancing), grabbed at the back of my garter so he could wedge his hand up against my crotch. ew! as soon as i got my dollar, i planted my shoe on his chest and shoved him away.

anyways, it's got me really cold about doing another dayshift. i think i'm somewhat of a novelty act already, what with my weird name, music, looks, etc. i'm very pretty but very unique. i'm still gonna go back, but i'm wondering if maybe just a more varied crowd (ie night shift) will be necessary for me to make any money. (and maybe a cover charge while they're at it)

also i've been practicing in these shoes for two weeks now! i can definitely strut and walk in them well (stairs, carpets, whatever), i'm just finding it hard to do a lot of dance moves! i'm so worried i'll fall over (i stumbled quite a few times). i'm in pretty good shape so at least my legs/feet weren't sore today but my left foot has been tingly since last night. it's a very bizarre feeling. what is that?

i cant wait to get over this newbie period because i think i could be really good at this. just as long as nobody expects me to be able to do the splits because i dont think i will ever be able to!

When you say that nobody followed up do you mean that no one came and asked for a dance after you were done on stage or that you asked everyone and they all declined/made up some other stupid excuse?

If it is the second case then they probably had no intention of buying a dance and just were there for the free show. But expecting a customer to come find you is wishful thinking. When I come off my stage I will go to the people that said "come back and see me" and say something along the lines of "So are we ready for some one-on-one time?" If they say yes then good if they say no then whatever, move on to the next one.

No matter how cute your panties are, certain items of clothing are just a dead-ass giveaway of a newbie stripper, and wearing panties instead of stripper thongs is one of those giveaways. It just isn't performance wear. It's not about all being the same, it's about a certain style and standard that is expected of you -- like doing your hair and makeup and wearing high heels.

The "I want to see you on stage" is a blowoff line. Read Hustle Hut for some good ways to deal with it.

well i bought a thong (two actually, to wear at the same time!) and worked a night shift and made $400 after tipout and i know that i didn't even try that hard. not only that but i had a blast.

no blow off lines, no excessive talky crap, no groping. i think dayshift is just full of girls who do extras, whereas a lot of the girls in night shift are adamantly opposed. i think i'll just switch to night shift because i definitely think this is the job for me.

aw thanks! i think i was so unsure of myself because of the bad dayshift, but nothing reaffirms you like a huge wad of cash in your hand! my feet are still tingly though, even after two epsom salt soaks. they don't hurt but.. they tingle. it's weird-feeling!

Your shoe might be too tight. Be careful, somome on SW has nerve damage from wearing shoes that were too tight. I don't remember who tho... but yeah. make sure you stretch out your feet before and after dancing. There are these yoga things you can buy for your toes to spread them out, I've never used them, but I hear they're pretty rad.

The tingly feeling is nerve damage. No worries, nerves regenerate unless you, like, chop them off. St John's Wort speeds nerve regeneration, so you might get some creme with it in it from your local health food store.

You probably have those shoes with the clear plastic parts that go over your feet? As your feet get warm, they stretch, and then as you cool off they constrict around your feet, cutting off circulation and possibly causing nerve damage. It doesn't happen to everyone who wears them, but when it does happen it's usually this type of shoe.

    i have these: http://www.thereddoorstore.com/sexy/jezebel-609.html

yes, they are a little tight, and the pads i put in the bottom are probably not helping. maybe i'll take them out now that i think they are more comfortable. however the size up was much too big (7) and felt too wobbly. i don't think i've ever had shoes that were too tight before, as i have fairly narrow feet. i guess i'll take a hairdryer to 'em next time, right? i think i read that somewhere before.

^^^ See how that works, but also try on a different brand too. Go to a shop and see what brand you like more.

Put on wet socks and then blowdry them, they will stretch to conform to your feet. Alena Downs taught me this handy trick. The wet sock will prevent your feet from getting burned.

On a side note, I waited a little over six months after I started dancing to learn pole tricks. I am starting to get pretty decent, people at my club are always saying how much better I am getting, and work is a lot more fun. When it is slow, I will practice on a side pole and guys that have previously rejected me will approach me for dances. I make more in stage tips, and the line "I want to see you onstage first" gets turned around a lot more often. If you put work into it, you will reap rewards. FYI I take 3 1 hour classes a week and I go in early to practice new stuff at work...it has been about 5 months of this. I have a pole at home.

You have to pick and choose your battles when it comes to conforming to some stripper standards, like the thong issue. Guys will try to take advantage of you as a new dancer, so you want to try to blend, although it will be obvious when you are onstage. No offense, that is just how it goes. Eventually you will figure out how to keep them in control and empty their wallets simultaneously.

i tried on jante's, ellie's, and dallas heights. i actually took home a pair and after a few hours, quickly discovered they were not for me. these are definitely the most comfortable and stable. they only start feeling tight in the middle of my shift. i think my feet are slightly different sizes though, because my left foot always hurts more.

i think i am starting to see these battles, although i'll retire some of my weirdness until i'm in full control of "the game". i've already outsmarted a few of these chumps who thought they could fool me for being new, but i know i've got a long way to go on learning how to drain wallets. i did manage 120 out of just conversation and eye contact though

i will probably try to invest in a pole/classes in a month or so, after i've built up some more wardrobe. thanks for all the advice!

Mine def are. the left one is a shade bigger. and as far as hurting in the middle of your shift remember gravity is playing on you and your feet are resting at an angle with your body weight pushing on them, so they are bound to continually slide more into the straps that cover your toes.

Really? Pleasers are always the ones that break on me.

It sounds like you have found your place on the nightshift. I've only worked at 2 clubs with a dayshift, but in my experience, the dayshift can be completely different than the nightshift. More laid back, more extras, less supervision, and less attractive girls. I'm not trying to knock day girls because I'll be working days off an on this summer, but I'm glad you found the nightshift to work for you.

You will learn to deal with all the BS lines you get from customers, in one way or another. Some are worth answering, some are best met with a sarcastic smile and walking away.

I hope you make 400 or more every night

actually i -would- have made over $400 if some asshole didn't pay for his 3 VIP lapdances! it sucks too because i made them really good! now i have learned to not stack dances and wait til later to get paid.

also thank you girls for being gorgeous and posting in my thread. carolina even looks like my favorite stripper here at my club
