    Default "Different" looking dancers...

I'm not a stripper and I'm not quite ready to get up there and audition, but I've been considering it for quite a while.

My question is...is there any way to be different looking and not be the "scary" dancer?

I'm pale, and I have lots of freckles...and I've got a few pretty big tattoos, with more on the way, and multiple piercings. It's all fine and good in my line of work (I'm a tattoo artist and don't plan on quitting) but I see stripping as a hobby, something I'll do for my own thrills.

All the dancers I've seen are really tan and glamorous-looking, with one exception. "Raven" was her stage name, and she was REALLY pale, like milk-white, and she had green dread extensions, black lipstick, and danced to industrial/goth music. Definitely not my thing.

I don't want to be the "scary" dancer, but I just am not able to have that time-tested stripper look. My skin doesn't tan, and spray tans look crappy on me. I'm Irish. It's just painfully fake on me. I don't want to be a novelty act like Raven (she worked at a club where ALL the other girls were "normal" strippers). I want to do something at least a little classy, not a shock act.

Should I hang up my heels before I even put them on, or is there hope for a girl that's a little different looking?

It's really the freckles that I'm worried about.

Um... I'm hoping one of our seasoned vets will back me up on this, but freckles are fine. You're really worried about freckles most of all? Assuming that you're within the normal range of freckley, it's not a problem; honestly, it'll be part of your appeal. The tats and piercings, however, will probably be more limiting than the freckles... maybe you don't want to hear this, but depending on where you work, you might be confined to the role of Novelty Stripper if you're way more tattooed/ pierced than the other girls. It's not that bad, really... I enjoy being Novelty Stripper... it permits me a number of good (although cheesy) one-line openings on busy nights. I'm aware that I'd make more $$$ if I was more conventionally stripperified, but I wouldn't be as comfortable with my appearance, so this is a happy medium.

I agree with ODB, you'll need to attach pics for us to get any real understanding of where you're coming from.

Oops, I thought we weren't supposed to post pictures and be like "Tell me if I could strip!" (Noob here, ladies.)

It's not just my face, they're very prominent on my arms and I have a very light dusting of them on my chest/back/legs...anywhere that sees the sun. If I try tanning, I get them on my stomach...so I go out of my way not to see sunlight.

I guess it's because I find freckles un-sexy that I think everyone does. Men still think Lindsay Lohan is hot and she is WAY more freckly than I am.

Here's the best example I can give you of my freckles. THIS PICTURE HAS A GIANT DISCLAIMER: I'm on the left. This was taken at my Grad Night party when I was 17. That tattoo is NOT real and I had just gotten out of the pool. I'd use something more recent if I had it, but for some reason I have no other "body" shots in my photobucket.

This is more or less me now, in my natural state. No contacts, no makeup, nothing. Those are the piercings I have, besides my navel/nipple and ears. I'm much cuter when I'm properly made-up.

I think I made myself out to be scarier than I am.

Another question....SCARS. I have an appendectomy scar. It's almost 10 years old and not terribly noticeable...it's almost white and blends in, but there's an indentation which you can definitely feel and see from the right angle.

Here's my scar...and this shows my arm freckles. My body isn't bad...I'm just really worried about my skin being an issue. There's a big difference between my skin tone on my arms and on the parts of me where the sun don't shine.

I think I can make the whole thing work somehow...I'm teeeeeny, barely 5' tall, and I get a LOT of attention from older men because I look like I'm 13. (My last boyfriend was 14 years older than me. I'll be 20 in August.)

Is the "naughty little girl" act enough, or does it get old fast?

I've seen girls COVERED in tats and piercings that weren't the "scary" dancer. You may have issues getting hired at the top gown clubs...but I've always found that I made more in the "lower" clubs anyway.

I dont have tats..but I'm Irish too and covered in freckles(as you can see from my avatar)...nobody even notices them in the dark club under blacklights.

You're really cute...so you'll be fine. the naughty little girl thing never gets old if you know how to do it(it isnt my thing..I've never been able to play that well..I'm more the bitch dom smartass type)

I cant even see your scar..it'll be even less noticable in the dark club. and I have just as many if not more freckles on my arms!

Tee hee... I like you... you are cute and adorable and you have imaginary appearance flaws. WHERE are the problem freckles? WHERE is the appendectomy scar? Honeypie, you will be just fine.

I, by the way, have a giant tattoo on my ass which covers zillions of SI scars; a few of the scars still show between the ink. I've never had a custy notice my scars... the tattoo deemphasizes them, which was the idea. Honestly, in your case, a sexy flat tummy will make a much bigger impression than a tiny scar that marks it.

You'll be fine, girly! I don't think you'd look like the "scary" dancer at all. You look cute and kinda edgy, and I'm sure you could figure out exactly what you want your look to be. I really wouldn't worry about the freckles and lack of tan.

maybe "raven" isn't a "novelty" or a "shock act". maybe she's just being herself? also.. it is possible to be alternative/rock/goth/whatever and remain "classy".

food for thought. s'all i'm sayin'

hahhahaha i read the post and had something in my head that u would look like and then i see your pic and your totally not what i was thinking.

honey u r beautiful. go for it.

anyway not everyone needs to be tanned. many strippers arent even tanned they (we) wear bronzer such as sally hansen airbrush legs all over our bodies plus we have flattering lighting - it covers a multitude of sins.

Hot and edgy is a look you'll bank with! You're gorgeous, and have awesome eyebrows, haha. Hot body, too. You don't have to be a tan, blonde stripper to make good money - confidence comes before that.

Perhaps you should consider burlesque or some other form of performance where you can obtain said thrills without the troublesome added aspect of oh, trying to make a living. Hit some amateur nights and get it out of your system at the most.
