Some dumb ass who don't know how to use coasters got a big ass ring on my coffee table. It is dark wood- I got it from Aarons. Is the spot permanent or is there any way I can get it off? I'm so pissed right now...

It's permanent unless you refinish the whole table.
Well shit.
Refinishing isn't that huge an ordeal. You could do it yourself and have Mr. No-Coaster help with the cost of materials if you like. It's expensive to have someone else do it, but it really is the kind of thing you can do yourself at home. And be sure to add a few coats of polyurethane on the top so this doesn't happen again.
Well, the table is really glossy now so I thought it had a couple coats of plyurethane on it already. It also has two tables that match, so I'm scared if I have to refinish the whole thing it won't match the other tables. I guess if I can't get the ring out I'll just cover it with a decoration or something. I'm planning on getting a new set in the future anywayz.
Yep, pretty tablecloths and stacked magazines are great for that sort of thing!![]()
I've heard of using Mayonnaise & cigarette ashes mixed together to rub on the ring....That's the best I can think of...
Edit- oh, coats of polyurethane.....? That might not work. The hardware store has fix-it kits for cigarette burns & gouges...it might work for the ring.
The high gloss shine is from the rubbed oil finish. Had the table been coated in polyurethane before the water would not have penetrated. Sand it down, stain it again, oil rubbed finish up to high gloss, high gloss poly urethane. Done and coasters are a memory. except for dings.
I had a dark coffee table and the same thing happend....some moron didn't know how to use a coaster and.....rings appeared.
I did do the mayonnaise thing and it did work as long as you did it shortly after the occurance. Just slather on a wad of mayo and let it sit for about an hour and wipe off. It does help make a difference.
