Wow. I mean, I think she was a good looking bigger girl before. But man, its pretty amazing that they could shave her down like that. Weird. I don't like it. I dunno. I think its amazing and depressing like you said. I think its also insulting, but I can't figure out why.
Let me ponder...

^ Oh yeah. Way to put my sentiments in words. Exactly. I mean, like she wasn't a beautiful woman before. And that women are (like you said) a commodity to be manufactured, packaged, and marketed to feed some demanding and scrutinizing market. Ughh. Gives me indigestion.
all i can say is WOW!!!! i didnt know that was possible
I stopped stressing about looking like magazine covergirls when I learned the joy of Photoshop's "Liquify" tool.
It reminds me of an article I read not long ago about a journalist who attended a magazine cover photoshoot featuring an unnamed popular female celebrity. Apparently the clothes were modified on the spot to fit her perfectly, and all the photos had to be shot from the front because the tiny bit of excess fat she had was all pinned back tight with industrial strength duct tape to make her stomach, thighs and hips look more toned than they were. Not to mention the 6 stylists standing by to fix any out of place hair or thread.
It sucks that women will never truly be accepted for how they are.
My BF is an art student and a photoshop wiz, and I recently met one of his models at a party. I was shocked... because she was this flat-chested scrawny girl... not the busty but trim chick in the photos! I was like... Where'd her boobs come from? What'd you do to her face? Why are her eyes so much smaller in real life? (Fun fact: eye size is generally increased about 5% for glamour shots like magazine covers, makeup modeling, etc.) He was like... eh, I just needed a female who could pose a certain way for the original picture... the rest was photoshop.
I was amazed by that video too. Photoshop is sort of like playing God on the computer... even more so than the Sims!

O.O
Wow.

holy poop.

I remeber years and years ago I was looking at a mag cover, and I turned to the inside page to read about the cover...well the editor goofed and didn't catch it, but the original model pic was the thumbnail inside and it was totally different than the cover pic! The sleeve was different and her arms were thicker and her hair had a strand that wasn't really there. Weird.
From that day on I neer trusted what the mag covers looked like.
But like you other girls said. how insulting.
I imagine these cover models work damn hard to look the way they do, only to be changed by a guy sitting behind a keyboard. And if that's the case, then we could ALL be friggin models and just alter ourselves with photoshop!
I'd love to see young women start admiring magazine covers that feature women, not computer generated ideas of what men think women look like.

Wow. Damn I need photo shop... lol jk jk
I’ve always heard "oh they just look like that because they retouch the photos."
But I suppose it never really registered.... I need to show this to my boyfriend!!

Wow. That is an extreme makeover if I ever saw one!

^^ This is good news. Makes me feel a little better I think....
Ya know, I have photoshop, and I don't even know how to use the damn thing, certainly no to that extent.... hmmm... photoshop lessons? New career? Hmmm....

Thats the effect of Photoshop's Digital Diet tool.
I loved going to strip clubs; I actually made some friends there. Now things are different for the clubs and for me. As a result I am not as happy.
Customers are not entitled to grope, disrespect, or rob strippers. This is their job, not their hobby, and they all need income. Clubs are not just some erotic show for guys to view while drinking.

This thread made me think about the Harry Potter/Hermione controversy.

That's true. My BF is a graphic designer and I have sat and watched what he does to pics of the models they use in ads. These girls look nothing like that fat woman ont he clip either but a nip and tuck here and there and they are transformed to perfect for the ad. The whites of their eyes get "shopped" so that there is no veins or any redness visible. The teeth get whitened. Parts of the body get "shopped" such as the arms and legs so that they look even leaner. I watched him "shop" a mole out of one models face in over 100 pics that he had to use for an online catalogue.
It's a good thing to see coz I used to always compare myself unfavourably to these images but not anymore.
