    Lightbulb Mastering stage shows

From the short time I have been dancing, I see how important a good stage show is and how it can effect making money in a club.
Sometimes though it seems it is so hard to "get in the mood" when the custies are not reponsive to you....for whatever reason, or "its just not there".
I was just wondering what works best to keep a good presence and rapport with the customers on stage...Im not into doing dirty stuff on stage or crossing the line from sexy to skanky, any pro advice would be great.

Well, sometimes the club is just dead and you're basically dancing for that one dude at the bar or all the guys have girls with them. Boo, it sucks. If no one's paying attention to me, I'm basically just practicing my pole tricks or something.

    Smile.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Right. If there's nothing going on in the club and it's dead just take each stage performance as practice for when things start to hop. Just have fun anyway. When it starts to get busy you'll already be pumped up.

There's a girl at my club who does amazing stage shows. She gets every guy out of their seat and tipping even if the club is dead...it's amazing. I can't pin down exactly what she does -- no special moves or anything, and hardly any pole tricks. Her movements are very lively and she makes great, sexy facial expressions. I've tried to copy her, but it's not as easy as it sounds, or not for me anyway.

Its about interaction. It took me awhile to nail it... I mean im paid to get the club riled up so I had to figure it out. There are some days it just cant happen but once you figure out your niche you should be able to hit it more often then not.

No matter how many guys are in the bar always come out with a huge smile, be lively, pick music to hit the crowd. I mean if you have a bar with the majority of older customers you arnt going to dance to hip hop, right?

If you have energy and eye contact the customers will feed off your energy.

Hell i've been known to stand there and scream 'make some fucking noise!!' then stick my tongue out(again thank you Alena for this trick lol) and it works!!

Interaction... I cant stress it enough!!

I must admit that I'm also the same with paid stage shows ... I will stand there and be all puppy sad faced... then they make noise and I put on a big smile. Sometimes I play the room off itself as such... I will divide the room up and stand there.. point to one half... and put a hand to my ear to listen... nothing... oh okay then the other half of the room gets the show as they made noise... and so forth.

Even in a 'normal' non paid stage show (where I'm working to sell myself and/or for tips) I will try to interact with a few of the audience members here and there.

At the same time, some people just have it ...... it being stage presence. Some people develop it and some seem to have it naturally or something... yet ultimately stage presence IMO is very much linked in with your confidence level.

If you are sending out vibes that you truely do believe in yourself.. then so will others.

eta: if the bar is really dead or slow or whatever, i agree with the others.. don't waste the stage time.. practice... or do moves that help you stretch your muscles out and warm you up for the night.
