    Default Mystique NYC

OMG. Went there last night. Soooooo ghetto. No real dj, bartender just plays music when she is not busy giving lapdances herself. Private rooms have doors that close. Almost all (no exaggeration) of the girls looked like they were hookers or drug addicts.

That being said, there seems to be money at this club. Every guy who came in spent money. I stuck to doing lapdances in the very open and not at all private lapdance area. $40, house takes 10. It seems to be a hang out for wall streeters who want to "slum it" with "the wrong crowd."

    There is no house fee.

You can wear whatever you want.

The management is really nice and they are pretty easy about scheduling.

Stage is disgusting. I don't think they have cleaned it, ever. I usually do floor work but got down there once and that was enough.

Ran into one girl I used to work with years ago, she was as nice as I remembered her being.

And I would like to point out that despite the girls being drug addicts/hookers they were absolutely the nicest girls I have ever worked with on a first night. Most clubs I have worked at the best you can expect is for everyone to ignore you. The girls at Mystique came up to me, introduced themselves, smiled and were helpful in anyway they could be; I was really suprised.

I can't say that I am going to make this club a long term option for myself - working in that sort of environment can be depressing - but it is certainly a good place to go if you need a break from the stress of more upscale Manhattan clubs.

Sounds interesting. I drove by it once in a cab. This place is way on the West Side. Any further and you'd be in the Hudson River. How easy is it to sell a dance for twice the going rate, I wonder?

I didn't find it that hard really. You have to talk a bit more but no big deal because you are getting paid a bit more for your dance.

They also sell $20 drinks if you sit with a customer that you get $10 for.

I've only worked one night but I'll let you know how the rest of the week goes.

Please keep us posted- I've worked in slummy places before and this can't be any worse. I want somewhere to work while I'm in NYC for a couple days.

Do the allow women customers in?

    What are the dancers backgrounds?

    Thanks!

    Women allowed in: Yes

Dancer backgrounds: Varies. Seems like most are full time dancers, no students or anything. But really, this club IS NOT picky. They would let you work a couple of days while in town if that is what you wanted.

Working a few days a week could be fun. How is this place on the weekends?

No house fee! I missed that one- sign me up. I'm gonna stop by when I'm in town.

Usually house fee is proportionate to earning potential. However, keep in mind they take out 25% of every dance ($10 out of $40). So is it really house fee free? I dunno....

That's true, no house fee is deceptive when they take a percentage of your dances. But plenty of clubs take a percentage of your dances AND make you pay a house fee so I guess it is better than that. Also, yes, I agree, often times house fees are proportionate to earning potential. Although I have found that Manhattan club house fees are based on what it was like to dance 8 years ago, not now. (Harder, much more competition, not as many free wheeling corporate accounts) You won't make as much at this club as you might at one of the top clubs in Manhattan but there is money there. The charm with this club is the laid back management, the nice girls and the wear-whatever-you-want policy.

    But anyway...The update:

Well, finished up my third night there. This place is defenitely a brothel. I actually saw with my own eyes (no third party stories) the manager giving condoms to a girl on her way to do a VIP room. And then later giving her MORE. Damn girl, hope you got paid good.

There was also drama because some girl claimed that one of the customers hit her in the VIP room she was in. I dunno, I didn't see any marks on her but sometimes these things are immediately visible. I don't know if this happens regularily or not - I took it as a good sign that all of the girls were really shaken up and saying that stuff like that never happens. What was disturbing was that management didn't believe her. But, like I said, this was only my third night. For all I know that girl is crazy and says stuff like that all the time. I dunno.

Either way, this place is defenitely shady. But again, I can't say anything bad about the girls. They have been nothing but nice to me, as has management. And there seem to be enough guys not looking for sex to make it worth my while for the time being. I'm not going to break the bank in this club but it is a nice filler between trips to NOLA and Dallas. The best days are weekdays because they get after work customers.

Again, I would not recommend this club as a long term option. It is really ghetto and defenitely a brothel. But like I said, if you want a break from the stress of an upscale Manhattan club this is not a bad option.

I worked for the parent company that owns Mystique- well the place where I worked and Mystique were related somehow. The mgr @ my place told me that he would call & let them know, if I was interested. I was also warned that it was a club that only girls who A) prostituted themselves or B) did coke heavy I.e. were willing to sit around and get high with the customers worked. Now, my co-workers told me that I wouldn't make any real $ there, b/c all the girls did either A and/or B, so I wouldn't make anything. I was also told that they had BEDS in there. I also checked them out on other strip club sites and the reviews were terrible. Needless to say, I stayed away. This was during Winter so perhaps it has changed... but I was told to stear clear and work @ a classier joint.

I've moved on to Cheetah...this place was just too much for me. I thought it was just a dive bar club but it was too much of a brothel. I did make money off of dances but the constant fear of being arrested was sort of a downer. The club is full of cokeheads and prostitutes; and management clearly does not have a problem with this.

But, again, for a few days or whatever it isn't so bad. And the girls were really nice, despite obvious problems.
