Default Beauty disasters as a youngster!!!!

I used to try all kinds of crazy shit when I was growing up...so i thought it would be a funny thread to post the most outrageous beauty mishap you can remember from when you were a young girl.

One time when I was like 12, I tried to make leg wax out of sugar, honey, and corn starch. I actually tried to use it to wax my legs with too! Haha it was disgusting and needless to say, it didn't work.

When I was about 13, I tried to put highlights in my own (naturally black) hair with BLEACH!!! I ended up with a headfull of bright orange hair!!!!!

About 14 years old, the cool thing to do was dye streaks of your hair with koolaid.
I thought I would be supercool, and so I dipped my blonde hair in a big bowl of pink koolaid.
I had a line. The bottom half my hair was pink, the top, blonde.
Problem is, koolaid stains. Espicially blonde hair.

I had to grow it out. I was pink for 2 years. And about 6 months later, the phase had passed, and it wasnt cool anymore, so I was just out of style for a year and a half.

The boys would shave the bottom half their hair and pull the top half in a ponytail.

I tried that. Looked pretty stupid for prom.

When I was 11, I wasn't allowed to pluck my eyebrows. I got my dad's razor and shaved half of one off.

^^ I did the kooaid thing too. I have dark brown hair and I used dark cherry flavor so you couldnt tell as bad.

Oh yea.... I cut my hair while it was in a braid by myself. Bad idea.

I was about thirteen, and decided to try curling my lashes with my mom's lashcurler. Well, I did it with lotion on my hands, the thing twisted and slipped, and yanked out half of my eyelashes on one eye!

My stepmother and I used to cut eachothers and my little sisters hair. My little sis wanted a pony tail cut, and I was like, "hmmm, I don't think I can do that... " Our stepmother grabbed her hair up into a tight ponytail on the top of her head and chopped it off. She practically had a bald spot on top.

Does styling your hair in all those "80's Hairband hairstyles" (a.k.a Ginormous Tidalwave bangs) planted, hairsprayed and gelled onto the top of your forhead count as a beauty disaster? From the ages of 11- 13 I wore 50 pounds of hairspray on my head everyday to school. I still cringe when I look at those pics from back then and ask myself what the fuck was I thinking!!?? I also tried to cut my own bangs and ended up cutting them wwwaaayyy too short. I cried, of course.

When I was 12ish my mom didnt want me to color my hair, but I heard I could lighten it with peroxide. ---You know, the stuff you treat wounds with! I put "streaks" in my hair that came out orange. I somehow thought this looked good.

I cut off my eyelashes when I was 5 with a pair of cuticle scissors. I saw my aunt using an eyelash curler, and I thought it was scissors. She said that what she was doing made her eyelashes curlier--so I wanted to try it!

I tried cutting my hair to look like Madonna back when she had REALLY short hair. Luckily I stopped about 1/2 way through and it was able to be fixed.

My friend ran out of conditioner and used cocoa butter instead leaving it so greasy. She washed it 5 times and couldn't go to school b/c of it.

We went to the beauty store to get something to remove the cocoa butter with and ended up getting some stuff to color my hair blonde. She put this stuff in my hair that burned and bleached it. It was called Effersol. I went to rinse it and the hot water heater was broke! The Effersol stayed on so long the hairdresser said my hair fused together at the ends and I was closed to burning it all off!

    What a scare!!

My dad accidentially shaved off an eyebrow somehow, so he decided to shave the other to make it match. My brother ( about 8 years old) thought for some reason, my dad looked cool with no eyebrows, so he shaved off his own. if my dad didn't look stupid enough with no eyebrows, the 2 of them out together just looked like a freak show. Father and son, no eyebrows. I was 11, very fragile, and refused to be seen in public with either of them till they grew back.

My cousin wanted her hair layered. I was about 12 and told her I knew how to layer hair. I cut her hair to look like steps. Hey...it was layered........

The night before my senior pictures, my mom insisted on giving me blond highlights. My hair was already blond but she thought highlights were necessary. My mom was ALWAYS fucking around with my hair and I HATED HATED HATED it... her own hair is very dark and she had no idea what to do with blond hair, plus we have radically different styles and tastes. But she insisted and there wasn't anything I could do, so she did the highlights.

I wound up with my naturally dark ash-blond hair, tiger-striped in varying shades of white and orange. I seriously looked like a tiger. It was horrible. I was furious and distraught, since my senior pictures were to be taken the very next day, and she said she heard dish soap will take the dye out. So I washed my hair with Palmolive, and stepped out of the tub to discover that now my hair was striped orange and GREEN! I tried every kind of shampoo and conditioner in the house and it simply wouldn't budge. I was an orange-and-green tiger.

Finally we went to the drugstore at about midnight and got a very dark brown dye to cover it all up. It was a dull, lifeless brunette shade with no tone or highlight whatsoever. And that's what I have in my senior pictures. Now when people see those pictures they think I'm a fake blonde. *sigh*

The fashion hell my mother was always putting me through, I swear...

    ^ Damn!

    * In junior high, I put my hair in sponge rollers overnight and woke up with a CurlyFro instead of sexy cascading curls....I looked like Carlos Santana..The curls were all tight and frizzy...

    * In 1999, I stupidly tried to dye my brown hair blue with a "punker" bleaching kit..turned my hair brittle and orange/ yellow with light blue streaks. I dyed it with black dye to cover the damage...Ugh, all I got was a bleach-burned scalp and flat ugly hair.

Right before 7th grade started, when the Rachel cut was cool, my mom took me to supercuts to get my haird done. She refused to give me the extra $2 to request the stylist, and I ended up with this guy that had some birth defect that left him with REALLY short arms. Yeah, they let this guy cut hair.

So, got my hair cut, and it looked so awful that I cried for like a month, and I hadn't learned to style my own hair yet, so it was just this big poof with layers so short it still poofed eevn if I tried to put it up. I wouldn't let anyone at all touch my hair for 2 whole years. So yeah, because of that one cut, I had 2 whole years of bad hair. Not to mention my crushed self esteem and feeling ugly everyday.

Well, about a week ago I saw that man walking in a shopping center. I recognized him right away. His evil face and stubby arms are imprinted on the back of my eyelids. I wanted to spit on him. After 12 years. Yes, it affected me that much.

i used to want big full curls in my hair - but was never allowed to use heated appliances etc - wasnt old enough to go buy my own either. so i used one of those cylinder brushes - just a norml round brush. got the front bit of my hair wrapped it round the brush rolling it all the way to the roots and it got stuck and tangled. any time anyone tried to free my hair it killed like hell so there was only one option...cut it off!!!

    Hahaha oh where to start....

I liked the grunge look, I wore flannel shirts with a ridiculous amount of black eyeliner and purple lipstick.

I dyed my hair pink with koolaid, but it didn't go as dark as I wanted, so I was red tinted.

I decided I wanted auburn hair, my mom bought tone on tone colorant. I'm blonde as can be, and she got it for dark hair. I had bozo the clown orange hair. I had to have it stripped, the hairstylist wouldn't believe me that my hair was blonde, and dyed me a level 4 dark brown and had to chop all my hair off cuz it was all streaky and different colors.

I used to pull on my eyelashes, and ended up pulling them all out.
