Default Ipods and the like- help for someone stuck in the stone age

So, I'm, uh, a little bit behind in my knolwedge of technology. I only got rid of dial up in Jan or feb. I've had a bluetooth thing a reg bought me when he bought my phone sitting in the box for over a year because I don't know how to hook it up, and I'm too lazy to learn.

Anyway, I'm thinking about buying an ipod, or something like it, but I don't know what is good or even what to look for since I really have no clue when it comes to this kind of thing. But my cd player is fucking off, and most of my cd's are scratched anyway, so I figure this would be a good time to take a step up. What should I look for, and any recomendations on types? Are there even different types? I've seen some with movie screens, and I wont be watching movieson them so that is not important.

Oh, and also, a reg wants to buy me a laptop, so what should I look for in those? Price is not an issue.

I just got a Motorola KRZR which is a tiny, sleek phone with an mp3 player in it, besides the cam & video. It holds 1 GB of memory which is plenty for me. It hooks up to my Bluetooth and although it took me a minute to figure it out (tks Mast) I'm totally groovin to it now. You def cannot go wrong with the ipod brand mp3 player though. All Mac products are very user friendly and have great support systems.

Yep. If you need something easy, an ipod is great. Mac computers are good too, but if you're used to a pc, it can be a little different especially if you're not good with stuff like that. But macs are good, and it's worth it. Right now, I have a sony vaio and i've never had a problem with it but I still want a mac. Everything is just so easy with them.

I've heard Macs are the easiest to learn on, but arn't compatable with much, which would probably be bad for a college student? Is this wrong?

Most colleges have some sort of mac lab, but yeah. Alot of stuff they aren't compatable with. Unless you're majoring in something to do with art and stuff as a college student, it would probably just be easier to get a pc. And in that case, I love my VAIO. I've only had it a few months, but haven't had any problems with it really. I can't remember the website, but google laptop review. It'll bring up some sites where you can read some info on laptops.
