Default Audition questions (SF in particular)

Can we have some sort of sticky thread about how to prepare and what to expect at an audition? I see so many threads but I still have questions!

Those of you who have danced in San Francisco will be able to help me out the most, because this is where I will be auditioning.

I emailed Gold club, Im told to come in after 7, and after I meet the manager, he will decide if he wants an audition. What does this mean? That he might look at me and decided im not right for the club, or that I might not need an audition to start working? Im guessing I should come with full make up and a sexy outfit?

How long might this audition last? A full set, like 3 songs? Should I purchase a dance outfit or just wear a nice lingerie set? Do I get to pick my music?

Do I audition in front of an audience, or just the managers?

I get very nervous when I dont know what to expect! Plus, I dont want to bomb my audition at this place because, although i dont quite know what im talking about b/c I havent been there, this club seems like the best one to start out at, especially for someone like me who wants a topless, low contact club.

It would be hard to make a sticky, because auditions are very different depending on the club/city/state
Some places don't even make you audition, they hire you on the spot. Other places make you change into stripper clothes and just look at you, and hire you based on how good your body looks.
Still other clubs will make you get on a stage and dance, maybe for 1 seconds, maybe for a whole song. Maybe until they've seen enough and can tell if you can dance or not.
Some places make you autition on a stage in a closed area of the club where no one else is around...but not everywhere has an area like that, or will use it, so sometimes it will be in front of the audience.

Always go to the club with full makeup on, prepared to audition. Take an outfit and shoes. Be ready.

I would say if they said after you talk to the manager they will decide if you need an audition to mean 3 things.
    1. You look good enough to be hired without an audition
    2. You look so bad they don't even want to give you an audition
    3. They can't decide by just seeing you in street clothes, and need to see more of you on stage/in stripper clothes to decide. Maye they want to see your confidance on stage or see your personality dancing.

While I agree about the variety of audition situations makes a sticky hard, I would think that most newbies will end up having to audition if they admit to never having danced before. Just so the manager can see if they can handle being onstage at least?
